Am I wrong , or was there a particular movie that the DOH tv series was based on? I was only 9-10 at the time, but i swear that I remember hearing that. I even remember seeing parts of a movie that it was said that the show was based on. It was a serious movie. Not a comedy.

Yep,Moonrunners 1975.Gy Waldron based this movie on the true life story of Jerry Rushing a true moonshine runner.Jerry is in the movie was also Ace Parker in the episode Repo Men. Then Gy loosely base Dukes of Hazzard off of Moonrunners.Even took some of the character names from Moonrunners as there was a Sheriff Rosco Coltrane,Uncle Jesse,and Cooter in Moonrunners.

Nope still alive.Without him there would be no Dukes of Hazzard. He was at Dukesfest last year I believe and had pretty much nobody coming to his table for signatures and his life story started Dukes.What irony.

My local video store doesn't have Moonrunners even though they have a decent sized old VHS section. Thanks for all that info Tim. I'm gone.
