Luke moaned softly but continued to sleep.

Jesse heard the gentle moan, frowning a little before standing up carefully and heading quietly to Luke's room, now seeing him shift and turn, his face furrowed into pain lines.

He quickly got two of Luke's painkillers and a glass of water and returned to his eldest charge, calling to him*

"Luke...son..."

Luke moaned softly blinking his eyes open with a grimace as he noticed the pain more being awake.

Jesse carefully sat down next to Luke and helped him to sit up a little, handing him the pills as he supported Luke's head.

"Here take these...it'll dulll the pain.."

Luke looked at him but didn't deny anything just taking the pills.

Jesse nodded gently as Luke took them and sipped down the water Jesse offered him.

"There we go...those should start workin' soon enough..."

Luke nodded a little resting his head back agaist his pillow biting down against the pain.

Jesse sighed softly and gently ran a hand through Luke's hair.

"Did ya get everythin' sorted with Jaime?"

Luke nodded a little. "Yeah...I think so..."

Jesse nodded gently, sitting back against the headboard.

"You wanna share the problem?"

Luke turned his head towards Jesse gently. "She...she don't want me to date anyone..."

Jesse raised an eyebrow a little before realization dawned on him with a small smile.

"Oh...let me guess...she doesn't want you to because she's worried you'll love your date more than her and she'll be shunned out with no one else to go to..."

Luke nodded a little. "Sounds familiar huh?" he asked shifting a little.

Jesse nodded with a smile.

"Went through the same thing with you..."

"With me?!" asked Luke in surprise.

Jesse nodded softly, looking to him.

"You were the first one ta arrive at the farm...we had ya fer about a year...before Bo then came along...and at first you couldn't wait..then Hughie Hogg said somethin' ta ya at school that changed yer mind right quick...an' then you was givin' me the cold shoulder until I made ya tell me what was goin on...you said you was scared that I would love Bo more than ya...that you would be turned out an' be sent to live at the orphanage..."

Luke swallowed hard nodding, remembering the day as if it were yesterday.

Jesse sighed softly, slipping an arm around Luke's shoulders.

"Took me near a week to convince ya otherwise..."

Luke nodded a little, not revealing that he had still worried about that...up until he left for the Marines...

Jesse sighed gently and squeezed Luke's shoulders a little. He knew that Luke still had insecurities about where he stood in the family...but most of those were whether or not he would be good enough to take over once Jesse had gone.

"Uncle Jesse...how did you get me convinced? I don't want Jaime... going through what I did," he added to himself.

Jesse frowned a little, shaking his head.

"I don't think I ever did...it wasn't until Bo actually came to stay that you found what you were thinkin' was completly wrong..."

Luke sighed. That didn't help much.

Jesse shook his head.

"Sometimes it ain't neccisarily what ya say that helps a situation...sometimes you just gotta try and make people see what yer sayin' is true then let them see for themselves...actions have always spoke louder than words..."

Luke nodded the pain lines in his forehead fading as the drug began to take effect.
