  1. My parents just finished watching The Dukes of Hazzard movie. They're actually on their way home from the theatre in Atlanta as I'm typing this. I asked my mom to give me her opinion without giving away too much info as I want to be surprised when I see it on opening night. My mom said that this is definately not a movie for children due to some of the content, but mostly the language. She wasn't as negative and as I thought she would be. She said that Willie Nelson and Jessica Simpson didn't have as much on-screen time as she originally thought they would. She said that she felt both Johnny Knoxville and Sean William Scott did "alright" as the Dukes, but Scott, at times, really portrays the character of "Bo" as being a little too over-the-top and just down right "goofy". She went on to say that all of the driving sequences featuring the General Lee were really, really good. GA-Duke01
  2. In order for the jump to take place there at Oxford College, it was mandatory for the Charger to be "flagless". Before anyone goes and blames this on Mtv, it wasn't the network who wanted to take the flag off of the car, it was one of the Deans there at Oxford College. Really, it was a big deal, but then again, it wasn't that big of a deal because from the angle of which the jump was shot, you couldn't even tell that the flag was missing. All in all, this was hands down the absolute best jump that I have seen in person. "Your Movie Show": The Dukes of Hazzard will be airing on Mtv on July 27th. The network really did a good job being that they didn't even have a General Lee to jump until about 12 days before filming was set to begin. They signed Corey Eubanks to perform the stunt. Once Corey was aboard, he then assisted them with finding a Charger. Original Dukes mechanic, Tom Sarmento, along with his Charlotte crew, prepared the car for big the "Seney Hall" jump. GADuke01

  4. A lot of people aren't aware of this, but Sorrell Booke and James Best also had a dispute and threatened to leave the show right around the same time that John Schneider and Tom Wopat walked out. Realizing just how valuable Sorrell and James were, they were quickly brought back. If those two, or even one of those guys had left at that time, The Dukes of Hazzard would have been over and done with. GADuke01
  5. Growing up, I never really cared much for the Coy and Vance characters, but I have grown to like the characters somewhat as I've gotten a little older. The "Coy and Vance" episodes weren't as bad as a lot of people think. The stunts throughout those episodes were nothing short of phenominal. Then again, they felt that the stunts had to be something extra special to aid in helping people forget about John and Tom not being part of the show. Look at it like this. Both, Cherry and Mayer were given the opportunity of a lifetime. Heck, anybody would have jumped at that opportunity. However, they weren't given much to work with in the character department. They were pretty much puppets for Warner Bros. However, both guys did what they were told, but there was just no way of making it work. I remember James Best saying that they should have at least had Cherry and Mayer dress differently than the characters they were replacing. Best felt that having the "new" Dukes dress differently might have given both characters a little more credibility. Of the two, in my opinion, Byron Cherry was the most convincing as being down-home good 'ol country boy. John Schneider even recommended Byron for the job. Christopher Mayer on the other hand, looked as if he had just walked off of some soap opera or possibly the set of "Urban Cowboy". He just didn't look comfortable. I agree that they really should have given both characters there own identity. GADuke01
  6. If anyone here is aware of any General Lee or Hazzard County Patrol car replicas located in or around the state of Georgia, please let me know. So far, here's who and what I'm aware of and their location. ************************************************************* Lance White - General Lee - Covington, Ga. Andy Baluch - General Lee - Alpharetta, Ga. Adam Cochran - General Lee - Macon, Ga. ? - General Lee - Milledgeville, Ga. ? - Gwinnett County, Ga. ************************************************************* If anyone can provide me with any more info, it will be greatly appreciated. If something that currently in the "planning" stages actually becomes a reality, which I think it will, we're gonna need as many "Hazzard County" vehicles to appear in Covington, Ga. as possible! Thanks again! GADuke01
  7. It's hard to know just what to believe regarding the original Dukes cast and the new movie. One of the "insiders" who was on the set told me that Jay, the new film's director, told him that the original cast members were contacted to possibly be in the new film, but each of the cast members wanted way too much money and the film's budget just would not allow it. GA-Duke01
  8. David Koechner, the "new" Cooter Davenport, can also be seen in the Ashton Kutcher/Tara Reid comedy "My Boss's Daughter". After thinking about it, Koechner just might portray 'ol Cooter very similar to the character that he portays in the movie I mentioned above. GADuke01
  9. Hey "MaryAnne", I totally understand where you're coming from by questioning as to why ERTL/Racing Champions is simply re-packaging items that were previously released. If anything, I was hoping that we would have seen a variety of new and better detailed items debut as The Dukes of Hazzard movie's debut approaches. Instead, the only thing "new" that we've seen so far is the packaging featuring the new cast. Maybe we should all petition ERTL/Racing Champions. In regards to Daisy's Jeep in the new film, the only name they want you to see is "RUBICON". GADuke01
  10. You might as well quit using the names Rosco and LTD in the same sentence. Everyone else here has been correct in saying that Rosco's Hazzard County Sheriff car is a late '80s/1990 Chevrolet Caprice. It's not an LTD. GADuke01
  11. Not only do the Hazzard County Sheriff Dept. uniforms resemble the uniforms from Broken Lizard's "Super Troopers", but there is another tie-in to that movie as well. Enos, in the new movie, is wearing a mustache. If you watch "Super Troopers", you'll notice that all of the troopers have mustaches. It's pretty much an inside joke with Broken Lizard. However, they shouldn't have put a mustache on Enos. I don't have that big of a problem with the Hazzard County Sheriff Dept. uniforms in the new film. The uniforms actually bring more of a "realistic" feel to the movie. Those tan/brown uniforms are actually identical to what the majority of the departments here in Georgia wear. If they had dressed the Hazzard County Sheriff Dept. in uniforms like the ones worn in the original series, they would have looked way too similar to the uniforms worn by the Georgia State Patrol officers. I'm really glad that they decided to bring the "Georgia State Patrol" into the new movie as well. In my opinion, this will also help in giving the movie a more "realistic" feel. GADuke01
  12. Hey "Scott", thanks for sharing that photo of the wrecked cars. It's pretty neat seeing just how those cars look after sustaining such massive jump damage. GADuke01
  13. Hey, "Dale the Bold" is right. Originally, the yellow Road Runner was Luke's car. Remember in the episode "Daisy's Song" when Daisy asks the boys about Starr and his crew regognizing them driving General Lee? Luke immediately tells her that they would be driving the Road Runner referring to it as "this car". It started being referred to as Daisy's car a few episodes after the show relocated to California. GADuke01
  14. You're right "01 General Lee 01", it really does seem like they're promoting Jessica Simpson as the "star" of the new Dukes movie. The entertainment show, "The Insider" did a brief bit on Simpson as Daisy Duke last night and showed several clips of her in scenes from the new movie. Being from the South, I thought Simpson's southern accent sounded pretty bad. With her being from Texas, I honestly thought that pulling off a halfway decent southern accent would have been pretty easy for her. Oh well. "Dale the Bold", I see you're point as well in regards to the "Daisy Duke" shorts. I suppose that I also should take into consideration that Simpson is way shorter than Catherine Bach. GADuke01
  15. I keep reading in magazines and hearing on various entertainment shows that Jessica Simpson's "Daisy Duke" shorts are way shorter than any of the shorts that Catherine Bach originally wore on The Dukes of Hazzard. Call me crazy, but I don't think so. In all of the photos that I've seen of Simpson on the set, there is no way the shorts that she's wearing are any shorter than those that Catherine Bach used to wear. What do you think? GADuke01
  16. Does anyone know exactly how many Lees were actually used in the filming of the new Dukes movie? The number that I've heard is 25, but I've also heard that the grand total is closer to 30. Does anyone know for sure? GADuke01
  17. I'm wondering. Does "bamamediamafia" understand one thing about American pop-culture? I don't think he does. Surely, someone should know a thing or two about pop-culture, especially when referring to themself as "media-mafia". Also, regarding the comments about Simpson as a brunette, yes, we will definately see her as a brunette at some point in the new movie. Then again, that's really no secret as US Weekly posted some of the photos of Simpson wearing a brunette wig a couple of months ago while filming a scene. In talking with a couple of people about the new film, the word is that "Daisy" puts on a brunette wig as a diguise to fool the local law. (Imagine that, the character of Daisy Duke disguising herself as a brunette!) I guess we'll just have to wait and see. GADuke01
  18. I agree with all of you guys on this. CMT has posted record numbers for airing The Dukes of Hazzard and the Inside Fame: "The Dukes of Hazzard" special. With original episodes of the Dukes now airing in the U.S. again, there is now going to be even more pressure for the new movie to even come close to stacking up to the original series. Once again, the original series is gaining popularity with an new generation who think that it's a brand new show. My 6 and 4 year-old cousins absolutely love it and can't wait to watch it every evening. It's just good family-oriented television. I keep hearing that the new Dukes movie was made with "Smokey and the Bandit" in mind. Well, if that's the case, why didn't they just remake "Smokey and the Bandit"? Nontheless, I'm still trying to reamin optimistic in regards to the new movie. Seeing the General Lee on the big-screen is going to be awesome and from what I hear, the stunts just might be the best on-screen car stunts performed in quite sometime. The General Lee is going to definately outshine everyone else in the new movie. Take it easy! GADuke01
  19. You are exactly right sir. Still, it never hurts to wonder about , "what could've been". What are you thoughts on actress Kate Beckinsale? She's a great actress and definately isn't too hard on the 'ol eyes! Take it easy! GAduke01
  20. Overall, I've heard that 26 cars were used. About half of the cars were 1968 models, half were 1969 models, with one or two 1970 thrown in. From what I understand, most of the cars were small blocks. However, Mopar Performance did supply the builders with (1) 529 HEMI prototype engine to palce in one of the cars. You should see this engine shown a few times throughout the new movie. One original Lee retained from the original series owned by Warner Bros., was reconditioned and used in the new movie. The other cars were all rounded up and purchased from all over the country. GADuke01
  21. As far as I know, Byron Cherry still makes appearances from time to time in support of his time on The Dukes of Hazzard as "Coy Duke". As for Chris Mayer, I've heard that he is a born-again Christian. As far as I know, he is still acting from time to time. I met Byron Cherry back in 2002 for the first time. He seemed like an all-around good guy. He still basically looked the same as if he had just walked off of the set of The Dukes of Hazzard. GADuke01
  22. Believe me folks, I definately see where the character of Daisy Duke and country singer Gretchen Wilson have a few things in common, but there is no way that Wilson could play Daisy Duke in the new movie. Sure, both women are alike in that they are both brunettes, tough country girls, who like country music, but that's about it. Gretchen just doesn't have the looks that's needed to be Daisy Duke. She's doesn't have the body and she's definately not all that pretty. She just looks very hard and rough. Catherine Bach had it all. She is and always will be Daisy Duke and is the standard of what the role of Daisy Duke should be. Out of the actresses listed above, Jessica Biel would have been a great choice. She even kind of reminds me of a young Catherine Bach. Overall, I really think that actress Kate Beckinsale would have been the absolute best choice as Daisy. She has the looks, the body, and can play tough when she has to. I really think they made a bad choice with Jessica Simpson. They should have at least had her dye her hair for the part. it would have given her a lot more credibilty as Daisy Duke. GADuke01
  23. As a child, like a lot of the fans of "The Dukes of Hazzard", I didn't think that anybody could ever replace or be as cool as Bo and Luke Duke. However, I still watched the episodes that featured Coy and Vance Duke. Although I was very young, I realized that those two guys (Byron Cherry and Christopher Mayer) had been hired to basically do the impossible - replace John Schneider and Tom Wopat. Given the fact that both of the new Dukes were given scripts that were originally written for the characters of Bo and Luke, it certainly didn't help their chances by having them dress identically like Bo and Luke and watch hour upon hours of tapes to literally learn how to walk, talk, and act like the actors that they were replacing. Although it was a no win situation for Cherry and Mayer, it was also the opportuntiy of a lifetime. Back in 2001, I had lunch with Ben Jones in Covington, Ga. We talked about kinds of Dukes-related things. Ben even mentioned then and there how he would like to a new version of the show, but with new characters. I went on to ask Ben about overall mood on the set when Cherry and Mayer were hired to be the new Dukes. Ben told me that he, along with with everyone else, was really hoping that things with Schneider and Wopat could have been worked out. However, he did go on to say that he was glad that Cherry and Mayer kept things rolling until Schneider and Wopat's returned. I do remember that he said that it was really a relief when they all saw Schneider and Wopat "rolling back down the road". Recently, I believe it was at "DukesFest '04", James Best stated that they should have really have had the characters of Coy and Vance dress differently. At least it would have given them a little more credibility than just being carbon copies of Bo and Luke. All in all, the episodes featuring the characters of Coy and Vance has some awesome stuntwork. I thought Byron Cherry was better casting choice than Chris Mayer. To me, Cherry was very believable as down-home country boy, while Mayer looked like he had just walked off the set of "Urban Cowboy". In closing, I wonder if the characters of Coy and Vance will appear on the cover art when "The Dukes of Hazzard: Season 5" debuts? Afterall, the 5th season of the show basically belonged to them as they appeared in more episodes than Bo and Luke. Take it easy! GADuke01
  24. Although, I have never heard that Byron Cherry auditioned for the role of Bo Duke, I do know that John Schneider actually recommended Byron for the role of Coy Duke. Tom Wopat does still seem to be very bitter towards both Byron Cherry and Christopher Mayer referring to them as "the clones". He seems to be especially bitter towards Byron Cherry, leading me to believe that the infamous "mooning" rumor just might be true afterall. GADuke01
