Lily gasped "Oh Jake!" then she closed her eyes sighing "I love you for doing this, but am I really worth it? I can't do nothing right and nobody but Mr. and Mrs. Strate really loves me. . .I think you do too, but I just. . ." she sighed.
Jake nodded "Thanks." and he went down the hall. He gently knocked on the door and heard a quiet 'come in'. He walked in and stood beside the bed. "You all right?" he asked. "I don't know reallly." Lily moaned. Jake nodded "Well I brought you something. "What?" she asked as he handed her a little box. "You'll see." Lily nodded and opend it. She smiled "Jake what is this?"
When Enos came out with the kids, minus Lily, Daisy smiled as they all sat down at the table. However, Enos of course knew that inside she felt the opposite of what the outside showed.
Daisy's lips curled upward ever so slightly as she gave a silent prayer. She then went back to the kitchen. Enos gently wrapped an arm around her waist.
Enos nodded, a slight glint in his eyes was obvious despite his serious face "Yeah, Daisy. Just know that we have an unspoken promise to work together on this as hard as we can." Daisy nodded "True. I think I'll go check on Lily for a second." Enos watched as she headed back toward the rooms.
Enos sat down beside her and sighed "Daisy, I'm sorry I upset you earlier. I realize this is all troubling to you. I just want you to know that it's just as hard on me as it is you."
The next morning while she laid awake in bed, Daisy thought about the plan she and Enos were concocting to get rid of the Hogg who had hurt Lily. Finally she pulled herself out of bed to get breakfast started.
Wow. I might not have if it weren't for my friend. She came to school one day reading it and I was kinda interested. I haven't read it yet, but can't wait to.
