The Strate twins traveled along the main dirt road that travels toward town. A was a litte ways from their farmstead where they both grew up. "So have you gotten the gumsion to ask Miss Daisy to court you yet?" Val asked as she rode along on the back of Whisper. Enos's face became flushed as his sister asked that subject, "Um, not yet." "What are you waiting for Christmas?" Val chuckled. "Ya know you can't rush those kind of things Val. Plus, I want to buy some land first. Build myself a little cabin, get a few milk cows, dig a well..." Enos answered day dreaming about his perfect life with Daisy. Val rolled her eyes, "You can still ask to court her. Sheesh. By the time you're both ready for marriage you'll have a log palace at the rate you're going." Enos looked at his sister a little deflatted. "I'm sorry 'E'. Look, maybe we should focus more about the task at hand than your love life." She apoligized. "Yes we should." In the distance the two riders could see two forms walking side by side as they were approaching the outskirts of the town. "Hey look there's some folks walking up ahead. Maybe we can get some information or maybe they need some help." Val pointed to the pair in the distance. The twins spead there horses up to the two women. Val then realized it was the two girls she seen at the bar, the trouble causing gambler and the 'working' bar maiden. She suddenly felt a warriness in her stomach as she approached. "Hi, um... need some help?" Val asked dryly from atop of her dark bay mount. (cue Chance or Min)

Val sat on the wagon with her mind in worry. The shock that someone could steal something that fast from her was on her mind. She then felt her left ear where the pieces of jewelry use to be. The ear lob felt a little swore then as she put her hand back down her sleeve caught on something in the lace of her dress. It was one of the sliver clasp pieces. She clutched it tightly in her palm. Now she had even more proof of her stolen jewelry. Soon they were approaching home Val looked to Enos, "Let's get the wagon unloaded then head back to town with Whisper and Justice." Enos looked oddly at his sister, "Why do you want to go to town with them? We were just in town." "Well, we need to talk to the sheriff about those earrings." Val replied as the wagon came to a stop. "Yeah but..." "Yeah but what?" "Well, ok... I suppose we can go for a ride. Whisper does miss ya." "I know... I miss her too." The dark haired woman smiled then got off the wagon without help from her brother. Soon they took her baggage inside the country home. She greeted her family while her brother readied the horses. In no time the gelding and mare were ready for travel. Val came out with two blanket rolls and tucked one behind the saddle of each horse. She was careful to make sure the right roll went to the right horse. Enos looked oddly at his sister after she done this. "What's the blanket rolls for? We're just goin' into town to talk to the Sheriff." Enos replied. Val smirked as she mounted the dark chocolate Cleveland Bay, "Insurance!" Enos didn't like how she spoke the word, 'insurance'. 'Insurance' sometimes got people into more trouble than the 'insurance' was worth. He shook his head but some how, she might be right. 'Insurance' maybe needed, especially if the same folks that were in the Boar's Nest were still around. He hoisted himself up on top of the dapple-gray Tennessee Walking horse he called, 'Justice'. "Val whatever ya do in town, sugar, leave it to me and the Sheriff. I don't want you gettin' hurt." Enos replied as the gray horse came up along side the bay. "Yes, brother dearest." she slightly rolled her eyes, "You know I spent a year or two as a bare back rider in Buffalo Bill's Wild West show. I can handle a horse and a gun Enos." "Yer a lady now, Val. That stuff is just parlor tricks. Leave the real deal to the Sheriff and me. Kay? We'll get that cur that stole from ya. Sides ya got that clasp?" "In my pocket." "Good. Now let's pay Sheriff Rosco a visit." Enos smiled to his sister. With that the two horses moved across farmland back toward town with a smooth even but heavy gate.
-
Valerie wrinkled her nose when the black clad stranger whisked the painted barmaid away upstairs. Enos was gawking at the lady but then stopped when he caught a glance at his sister's expression. "Come on. I want to get home and relax. Besides you're a deputy sheriff shouldn't you be out looking for my earrings!" She snapped slightly at her brother then yanked him by the arm out of the saloon. The twins left on a horse driven wagon with the sister's belongings. Valerie wanted to get home and relax as soon as possible. However the stolen earrings seemed to plague her mind. Outside the bar after the twins left, two more fellows showed up on Palomino horses. One horse named 'General' and it's partner 'Lee'. Their riders were two men, one with blond hair and the other with dark. As they dismounted Bo noticed a glimmer of something in the distance. A woman had tossed something in the air then caught it in her hand. He told his cousin about it. They both made note of it but then decided it was nothing and went on inside into the saloon. (cue whoever)

A smooth refined female voice replied from behind the dark stranger and the golden haired drifter, "Well, gents... I would like to thank you both for saving my own life as well as my dear brother's." The lady 'dandy' came up and hooked her arms gently around each man's elbows and smiled, "Care for a quick drink boys? On me of course..." The refined woman smoothed her hands down their elbows and released her hook on them. She then went back to her seat at the bar to pick up her purse. Then she realized something, her sliver and jade earings she was wearing were gone. Someone stole them in all the commotion. Right off of her own ears! A mortified look glazed over her face and her sibiling knew something was a miss. "Val what's wrong, sugar?" Enos asked his sister. "My jade earings are gone. Wild Bill gave'em to me hisself!" She hissed slightly. She didn't mean to but the thought of someone taking them right from her ears without her knowing caused her to feel violated and embarrassed. (cue anyone)

Dukes of Hazzard Season Two DVD - Due out in November?
Val Strate replied to Brian Coltrane's topic in Dukes of Hazzard News
I know what I'm going to ask Santa for this year! -
Yeah, I noticed that too Gator. I have some of the eps on the boughten VHS. Some of the eps have that on the VHS and on the DVD they don't. I'm going to go back and compair each just for ya! I got High Octane on VHS as well as on the DVD. So I'll go back and watch the end of the tape and compare the two. That should tell us if it was added or it was left off. But I know what you mean because one of my tapes has Boss saying that when the logo pops up at the end.
-
Val smiled politely to the black clad figure who gave her a nod. Enos just nodded back and helped Val to her seat. Val and Enos had sat down at the bar. They both ordered drinks from Daisy and engaged in small talk with the bar maid. Val realized that the Boar's Nest Saloon was full of shady company tonight. She whispered to her brother, "Boy, I haven't seen this rough a crowd in a long time." He mumbled back to her, "Yer right Val, I ain't either, and I was here just yesterday." Suddenly the pair of twins heard a loud crash. Both Strates turned to see what the clatter was about when they seen a woman laughing at a man and an over turned card table. She was about to make her exit when a dark figure stopped her.

You know, I was just thinking. For the role of Uncle Jesse what about Kenny Rogers. I know he's kind of retired from the lime light and he is a country singer. However, I remember in the 80's he did a couple of acting bits, facted he even stared in a few westerns. Wasn't he in the Gambler? Personally, I think he'd make a good Uncle Jesse. He would fit the part as far as looks and he often trys to take parts that are morally sound or have a lesson to be learned from them. Plus, for all those children of the 80's he was a big country icon. What do ya'll think? Val

Enos stood beside the stagecoach. He was dressed in a brown suit with a brown boulder hat to match. His deputy badge shown in the light as he grasped the white-gloved hand that emerged from the stagecoach. A smile spread to his face as his eyes met the soft gray pupils of his twin sister Valerie. She wore a dark green riding dress with black lace up boots. Her hands had nice crisp white gloves on them and the sleeves of the dress extended down to her wrists. She smiled back at her twin from under an off green boulder. Tucked neatly in the brim of her hat was a long quail feather. It’s iridescent hue shown in the light along with her daggling green gemstone earrings. The dark brown hair of Miss Strate was tucked up into a bun. She appeared to be quite a social-light. Enos smiled brightly at his well-dressed sibling, "Wow, ya sure do look pretty Val. Looks like your job with Wild Bill has really paid off." Valerie grinned back as the driver unloaded her luggage and handed the bags to Enos, "Yeah… Annie, Frank and Cody are all going to England to visit the Queen and King." "Oh, so ya have some free time then I suppose." Enos replied now carrying a bunch of luggage. "Yeah, I do. So I'd thought I'd stop for a visit." She smiled then ungloved one of her hands and stuck a finger into the lacey collar of her high neckline, "Actually, do think you can let the driver watch the luggage for a bit. I would like to go get a drink at the Nest and say 'Howdy' to Miss Daisy. It's so hot and I need to cool off. I about died in that stuffy stagecoach from the train." Enos nodded and pulled some money out of his pocket. He handed the driver one of his last two crinkled dollars with the driver. The stagecoach driver wrinkled his nose and gave Enos a look. Enos looked sheepishly at the man and gave him the second dollar. The stagecoach operator then nodded and stood with the baggage. Val had glanced back at the scene and sighed, "I see Boss hasn't given you much of a pay increase." Enos still looked sheepish only to his sister, "Um… well money's been kind of tight and all Val…" Valerie rolled her eyes as her pocket book hung off of her arm, "Oh Enos, don't bother to explain. Money's been tight in this county since Boss Hogg took the seat. Come on. I'll buy." Enos shrugged and followed his sister to the Saloon. He then stepped in front of her and held the door open for her. She walked inside and he followed.

The Moment We All Have Been Waiting For...
Val Strate replied to Val Strate's topic in Dukes of Hazzard News
You know, you are right. It would be nice to see the other seesons on DVD for once. But I don't really have any inside on that one. I figure if Season One sells well they will probably release the six other seasons. I know with some TV shows the series come out no problem. M.A.S.H I know has been on the store shevles for a while. I think they are up to season five or six was the lastest one I seen released. However, I've only seen season one of Charlie's Angels on the store floor, and they even had two movies made dedicated to them. But it's all probably based upon the old law of Supply and Demand. We'll all probably know if the other seasons come out in a couple of months when they get an idea on the sales they generated. (I know, I'm going into Retail mode here... LOL.) But that is an excellent question, and if anyone in Hazzardland knows, please drop a line. -
The Moment We All Have Been Waiting For...
Val Strate replied to Val Strate's topic in Dukes of Hazzard News
Ok... I was incorrect. There are THREE disks!!! It's a beatiful collection of the first season. John and Cathy actually do a comentary on the One Armed Bandits. Plus the last disk has an array of features and commentary. It's so entertaining just watching the eps. But the commentary is just the icing on the cake! Just listening to the actors and actresses talk about their involement with the show, is so entertaining as well as heart warming. Plus, the little flashbacks on moments just makes it so much fun. It's packed with good stuff! Well, I have to run. Take care all. Val ;D -
Yes folks it's finally in stores! Dukes of Hazzard: Season One on DVD. I got my copy last night at my local K-mart. Since K-mart has it, I assume that your local Walmart, Target, Meijer or whatever retail chain you prefer to go to, has it for sale. I do know that K-mart had it priced at 29.99 in my area. I don't know what other chains are selling it for but that's the price I paid. I'd imagine that other stores would be in the range of a dollar to five dollars more or less. The Season one set is on two disks. Three eps. to a side of each disk. The case is very brightly colored. I haven't looked at all the features yet but I'll keep you posted on what I find. I highly recomend this for any serious Duke fan. Plus, I would think that the number of copies they sell will determine wether or not they release other Seasons. I would love to here other thoughts and comments on what others feel about this. I will also post some more info after I finish watching the DVD! Val ;D

Dukes of Hazzard Soundtrack Speculation
Val Strate replied to Brian Coltrane's topic in Dukes of Hazzard Movies
Personally... I think the soundtrack should have Walyon in it. No matter what they do with other songs, Walyon Jennings's music should be included on the soundtrack. He helped make the Dukes and his voice is remembered in their eps. I feel if the producers used at least one or two of his songs in the movie that it would keep some nostalgia feel to the film. Days later.... An oak picture frame sat on the Game Warden's desk. Framed inside, was a picture of all of Hazzard standing around the fallen oak tree. As Val studied the photo and the frame, she remembered how chaotic it was durring that time and how eventually everything seemed to turn out in the end. Yep... no matter how deep of trouble you seemed to have in life, it always turns out in the end in Hazzard County. Val smiled and sat the frame down, "Yep... Ya just gotta have faith that things will all turn out in the end." THE END. (Note: If everyone involed doesn't mind, I was going to edit this and submit it to MA for the RR's in the fanfic section. Please Email me or PM me with your thoughts. I will probably be asking you all anyhow and recording your names down for who all gets credit anyhow. Thanks.) Val

Um... Do you want a couch or a coach? Because I don't think people would like being sat on. *giggles* It's ok. Honest mistake. Fact.... I think I would like to be the coach for the oppositing team. *smiles big* Unless someone else wants the job. I'll go for it. See you around eight. *whispers* Hey, all you heavy hitters! Come join my team! Val

I've seen Bullit, Brian. Ah yes, with Steve McQueen, mmm mmmm mmmm! Sherly Crow has a song about him that pays tribute to that movie. Yeah, the chase sence is pretty intense. The end is not what I expected. Even tho' I'm not a Ford fan, that mustang is pretty sharp. *Humming* Like Steve McQueen, driving a fast machine... LOL Val
