I live in a small town and just outside of town at a farm house there is a 69 charger sitting beside a little shed, I am 23 and have been stopping out there for 9 years wanting to buy it, i have had my dad stop out back when i was 15 and getting my license, i have stopped out numerous times and have had my wife stop out and ask to buy it but they will not budge. It is just sitting there rotting away it makes me so mad to talk about it I just hope one day when I stop out that they will have a change of heart and sell it to me. Does anyone have any chargers in there hometown sitting or no of any for sale.

I had the experience as well Dukefan1, a '69 charger , rotting away beside a barn. I asked them if they wanted to sell it. They said it's a package deal, they had another one inside the barn, and the one outside was for parts only.

They were so mean, they would not even let me see either cars, all because someone was "supposedly" buying it.

Then I asked just to have a look at the one outside and they would not let me near it, was I ever mad, like I told them, it's not like I am gona steel any part of it , me driving a '79 malibu.....was I ever fuming....

I feel bad for you guys because ......well I see dukefan is 23 & I'm not sure about dukefan1 but thinking around the samne age?

If not I'm sorry for my guessin BUT the reason I feel bad is because.....GONE! are the days of finding & buying these cars for $300 to $800 still runnin in backyards.

I grabbed mine for $1500.00 runnin but ugly & I thought at the time that-that was high! I look back & say to my self thank goodness I bought it.

I payed the guy in payments because I had other obligations at the time but had BIG plans with this car (as you all seen lol). However the car sat at my Moms house for almost 10 years b4 I did ANYTHING 2 it at all.

People would stop all the time to try & buy it & Mom used to say, "my son is going to re-do it".

I am sure they all walked away saying, "Yea Sure he is lady".

OK back on track. There is one sittin near me but I have not stopped to try & get it for my son because I am going to go there with $$$$ in hand & ask & show the cash hoping this gives me some upper hand or something?

Dunno if thats gonbna work but thats one option for the guy you know near you or sometimes people want to hear that you are going to restore it to its original glory and would be glad to stop back with it to show them & allow them to be a part of it. I know it sounds weird but people have attachments with some of these cars, so try that?

All in all its so hard anymore to find'em cheap or in rough shape anymore & man do I miss those days!

GOOD LUCK GUYS & I mean that!

I am 43, and time is running out for me, if only I could find my friend In Moncton New brunswick, 30 minutes from here.

he told me his uncle had all kind of old wrecks, including plenty of chargers, that haven't been crushed in 20 yrs, and that was 5 yrs ago, or so. Ican't find Darren any where's .

he told me he would take me to his uncle's junk yard, we would pick the best charger , that is not sitting on the ground, then take parts off other charger and put it with the half decent one(well as decent goes, coming from a junk yard).

All I would have to pay is tow fees to bring from there to here, and so far I can't find Darren.

So this summer, I will try his dad, he runs the Moncton Times, news paper there, and I hoping he can help me out. Wish me luck.

I remember I was at a school bus garage near Buffalo New York back in the early 80's. A guy who worked there had a black 1969 Charger in the parking lot (and he owned 2 more) so I struck up a conversation with him. He said he liked the Dukes of Hazzard but he wasn't a big fan. He wasn't happy that the number of cars they used on the show was driving up the price of used parts because the show was buying up cars all over the country. I told him I couldn't believe that they were buying up cars from this part of the country, after all, we were a long way from Hollywood. To my surprise, he pulled out the local newspaper, opened the classifieds and proved it!!!

I Taped a show called, "the life and times of the dukes of hazzard", in it, it talked about how All the caracters ended up with their parts. At the time Bo did not meet the requirement age to be on the show.

So he lied about his age and got in. It talked about all their biography(when they were born and stuff), and what films they were in and what they were all doing before they got the part for the Dukes of Hazzard.

Then came time to talk about the General Lee, they were so low on chargers, they were going to park in lots of malls and putting signs on anyone who had a charger parked there, with a not saying,

"if you want to see you car on the dukes , give us a call, that's how reduced they were to finding chargers for the show.

I still have that tape at home, I wish I knew how to convert it onto my computer, and make a dvd with it, it is almost a 2 hour special.....

Dukefan1,

Hang in there it'll happen with patience & persistence oh & mostly luck. I am sure peopl ehave the wildest stories on just how they located their Charger. Just start a thread & ask & I'm sure you'll be amazed at some of them.

Dukefan,

You & I are right at he same age almost & I JUST decided to make a General. I helped friends make'em & drove in them never really lettin on just how much fun I was having because he was buying, makin & sellin them. I have had at least one Charger at all times in my life since 1984 & in fact still have my 1st Charger to this day in addition to my General. So so glad I never sold it. Like I said b4 to try & get back in now is alot more difficult moneywise now then it used to be.

You also need to Google that Darrewn guy you mentioned. Just type his full name in there & if that dosent work try Facebook.com & then any otyher means of trying to locate him because that sounds like a sweet deal he offered ya. KEEP US POSTED both of ya. & as always Best of Luck!!!!!!!!!
