  1. Rosco’s heart beat faster than the unfriendly Duke’s horse carried the rascal out of sight. He stood up a little shaky, but unhurt and wiped his hands over his shirt. All he had planned to do was ask the young man how Jesse was doing. He looked down to see Brian and another fella talking. He turned his head and saw another figure hurrying from the opposite of the alley. With quick steps, he hurried around to the other side of the tavern. He blinked in surprise at the three horses that stopped the Sheriff in his tracks. He smiled at the woman who emerged from the shadows. “1,000 dollar bounty on Chet’s head?†She nodded. “Might be more if the townsfolk take up a collection after what he did to you…†“I’ve been scuffed worse,†Rosco replied. “Don’t worry.†She took a deep breath. “I’m glad you’re ok.†“Me too,†Rosco’s blue eyes gazed over the quiet horses again.
  2. "That ain't a nice way to hello," Rosco raised his other hand and moved the gun barrel so it was away from his head. Never flinching, he stared at the younger man. He heard boot steps coming down both sides of the alley. (cue anyone!)
  3. A uniformed man took quiet steps until he reached the left side of the young theif's horse. A document in his pocket. He raised a hand and placed it lightly on Chet's knee. His blue eyes were as bright as the sunlight, and gleam of the badge pinned to his shirt. He tilted his head and grinned. "Howdy there," Rosco paused. "Don't believe we're met." (cue Chet!)
  4. In an alley near the tavern, Daney asseted what she had found amidst neighing and whineing. The paper in her hands told of nine stolen race horses. And in less she was mistaken, they had just been found. A gentle, hot wind blew the closest stallion’s mane in her face. “Oh,†She exclaimed and stepped back. Daney contemplated whether to gather the horses herself and try to lead them to the local authority. Or leave them be while she went for assistance. The thought of becoming Crepe Daney cinched her choice. “You fellas, stay here.†She whispered. Hazel eyes took another glance and she walked back down the alley. Her boots stirring dust with each step. She walked into the tavern to inquire where the Sheriff was. (cue anyone)
  5. One of the barmaids watched the exchange between the two men. She turned to a long haired brunette dressed in a hankercheif material top and denim waist overalls. “Think I should get someone?†She whispered. Daney shrugged and picked up her hat. She started for the tavern’s exit. She needed to check something in Examiner’s saddlebag. She couldn’t remember if she had left a document in her coat. A smile crossed her lips hearing the rowdy laughter of patrons having a good time. She peeked back over her right shouler to see...
  6. Forty hours later, race day morning. Daisy stood up from the kitchen table. She had double checked each registration paper and placed them back in the legal size manila envelope. The boys were out with Chance going over the course. Kristy had taken Jamie and Shay to play with the Rhuebottom’s grandkids. She walked over to the sink and made a fresh pot of coffee. A low engine rumble came through the open window. A light breeze blew the curtains. She saw the General Lee pull up to the barn just before the curtains fell back in place. (cue anyone!)
  7. I have another question considerin' for time period, I was thinkin' of going back to the days of Gods, Godesses and Titans. Do the dohff.com guildelines apply to challenges as well? Thank ya. 8)
  8. Daney followed the Sheriff. *You're welcome, I'd have went and got Bandit but Brian is right, it was probably best for him and your doppleganger cousin to go.* She paused in her thoughts. She blinked seeing MaryAnne and the Doc... (cue anyone!)
  9. Can two challenges be combined together, like spark word and picture for one story? It's great to see this section up. Yay, Deputy! 8)
  10. "Yeah, Chance checked her over. It's either retrograde or traumatic form," Daney paused. Hazel eyes stared into the dark ones peering around Cully's shoulder. "She could have her memory back by the time we walk in the room." She sqeeuzed Rosco's hand. "Thank you- do you think maybe if she seen Bandit that might help?" (Cue Brian or Rosco)
  11. =) Nice job you two. I wonder where Ian and Hope will end up.
  12. "Yes, Cooter." Daney nodded. "Doc got her all fixed up..." She paused and pointed down the hall. "Please excuse me." She hurried away. And didn't stop until she nearly ran over a friend. Hazel eyes blinked and stared at the gentleman and his companions... "I'm sorry." She whispered. "I wish it was me with no memory instead of MaryAnne."
  13. Daney felt helpless. She hated that MaryAnne didn't know who anyone was. As for what Chance had said about time, what if months or years before the bright eyed Deputy regained her memory. The former private investigator wasn't willing to wait that long... MaryAnne being without her memory was terribly upsetting. She walked down the hall and bumped into a familiar face.
  14. (Co authored with the Deputy) Daney stood in quiet ponderment of what had just transpired. Her vision had cleared about the same moment that MaryAnne went off after Brian. The incident bothered her deeply. *Does this mean I am gonna have to choose one over the other?* She shivered and her blood run cold. She shook her head and looked at Rosco. He was the only one she trusted to get his kin and not make a bigger fracas. "Would you like my help or you want me to stay here, sir?" She asked. Rosco turned back to Daney. He paused in thought. "Yeah," he said. "And actually..." He looked at Cully. "Seeing you've got a car, why don't you go up the street there where the alley ends. Daney and I can go around back of Rhuebottom's here and check out the other direction." Cully nodded. "You got it." He got into the car and guided the Pontiac down the street, past Cooter's garage and down the street that turned into those same storm damaged houses Brian had just made a bee line for. Rosco looked at Daney and waved for her to follow him. "Take it easy," Daney yelled to Chance and Hilery. She saw Val and Enos run up behind the black truck before taking careful steps behind the Sheriff. She hoped that Cully wouldn't get lost or stuck in a tight spot from trees being down, parts of buildings scattered everywhere. Dukes had always been known for having a sixth sense when one of them was in trouble... Coltranes did too. Daney almost bumped into Rosco as he stopped. A figure was several yards in front of them. It was MaryAnne and Rosco didn't stand still for long. He hurried his steps and approached her. "Are you awright?" he asked. MaryAnne looked up at the two people approaching. She noticed the man was wearing a police uniform like her, but she didn't know who he was. The girl she didn't recognize either. "I have the most horrendous headache you can imagine...and some schmuck just tried to steal a toaster from the store back there." Rosco snorted. "That schmuck happens to be your cousin." MaryAnne stared at him. "Huh?" "It'll all make sense to you in time. In the meantime tho', I'm Rosco and this is Daney. Do you recognize either one of us?" MaryAnne rubbed her throbbing head and studied the two faces that looked at her. This was starting to get scary. She didn't know *anybody*. She shook her head hesitantly. "No...." "Do you know who you are?" he asked. "Everybody keeps callin' me MaryAnne." Rosco nodded. "That's your name. You're MaryAnne Coltrane. My last name's Coltrane. The "schmuck" you were just chasin' after is Brian Coltrane. We're all cousins." MaryAnne blinked. She turned and looked down the alley where Brian had disappeared and then looked back to the Sheriff. She said nothing, because she didn't know what to say. "Rosco, if MaryAnne will let me, I'll take her back to Chance and," Daney paused. The way the Deputy had peered at the alley seemed to indicate Brian's directions. She lifted a hand and pointed toward the alley, certain of the feeling she had. "You'll find Brian and Cully down thatta way." Daney gave Rosco a small confidant smile; she could see the worry on his face. She was scared but there came a time when everyone person had to step to the plate and be strong. She had learned from MaryAnne. Rosco looked down the alley and a little relief seemed to come to the corners of his mouth. "I think yer right," he said. He looked at MaryAnne. "MaryAnne, sweetheart, Daney here will take you to Dr. Walker. She'll help you get rid of your headache..." *and hopefully we can figure out how to get MaryAnne her memory back.* MaryAnne rubbed at her temple again. "That would be nice..." she said. MaryAnne stepped toward Daney and Rosco smiled. As the two girls headed out of the alley, he walked the other way. (Cue Cully)
  15. Happy Birthday to you... Happy Birthday to you... Happy Birthday, Marie. Happy Birthday to youuuuuuuuuu. 8)
  16. =) Hope is a unique creation. Nice work, C. Congradulations to both of you on working together, C and Jax. Will be interestin' to see where this goes if you two decide to continue.
  17. (Miss Jax gave permission for Min and Ian to be mentioned) A pair of weathered hands grabbed the cb mike off the box on the stand in the kitchen. Min and Ian were helping Bo and Luke get comfortable in their room. Daisy had already settled on the couch. The boys had insisted on her being tended to first upon the family’s arrival home. Nate had borrowed Jesse’s old shine car to go on a business meeting that he hadn’t been able to get out of. “Shepard to Scout…†Jesse called. He waited several minutes before repeating the words. He put the mike after still no answer. He walked into the living and got a small knife and unfinished whittled creation from the bookshelf. He went over and sat down in the rocking chair. Meanwhile in town, Daney had ditched the Game Warden Val and her brother Enos Strate. She called the hospital from the telephone company and been informed that her family had been released. Since there was no answering machine at the farm, she left a message for with Mabel for her family. There were still people missing that she cared about. She had strolled to the boutique that had survived Mother Nature’s wrath. She hastily grabbed some clothes from a rack and hurried to the dressing room. She changed from her torn, dirty tank top and jeans to a black peasant blouse and shorts. She left a note on the counter for Mrs. Hedstrand to charge the garments to the family account. Daney reached her hands up to her neck and held onto the silver chain. The brightness reflecting in a wall mirror reminded her of Mary Anne’s smile. Her lips pressed together to stop tears from forming in her hazel eyes or falling on her cheeks. She knew her family was awright but not her best friends. She took a deep breath and ran into the street. Her platform boots barely making contact with the pavement with each step that Daney took toward the police department. Daney caught a glimpse of Hunter, her dark green Plymouth Duster parked across from the pool hall just before she changed direction. Something lead her to Rhuebottom’s General Store. Blurry vision and dizziness slowed her pace. She stumbled blindly toward voices. One, an unmistakable thick, male city drawl. The other, a soft female country tone. Feeling safe, she called out to the people. “MaryAnne, Chance, Hilery, Brian!†Another vehicle came screeching up behind the black Ford Bronco before anyone answered… Two gentlemen who looked exactly alike got out. (Cue MaryAnne!!!!)
  18. The "00" was from the 1st reunion movie in 1997. It was owned by Buzz Kilroy and a decoy one driven by Cam Cutler until Buzz showed the boys that there were two "00"'s during the race... Mama Max's illegal one and Buzz's original that had according to the back story been the only car ever to beat the General in an over land race.
  19. (Please note, Val’s author phoned to say her internet connection was going to be out for a few days. She asked that I write for the Game Warden if the occasion warranted.) Val’s mild grey eyes narrowed seeing a still figure along side of Doc Walker’s house. Her six-foot tall frame scurried like a chicken from a fox in the Duke’s henhouse. Her ears heard a graceful rendition of ‘Small Town' by John Mellencamp. A mule eating briars type grin spread over the Game Warden’s lips. The five foot, eight inch form rose up. Slender hands came up and ran through waist length brunette hair. “I feel like an eighteen wheeler ran over me,†the brown green hazel-eyed woman said mischievously. “Daney!†Val exclaimed. “That’s an awful thing to say.†“This is Hazzard where it doesn’t get dark,†Daney countered good-naturedly. She had already spoken a silent prayer that everyone else had made it ok… her best friends, family, Chance, and a list of folks longer than offenses on Hughie Hogg’s rap sheet. A copy of that document kept in Boss’s office safe. She forgot the pain in her body, appreciated the fact that she was alive. She blinked and focused attention on another resident. (Cue MaryAnne, Chance or Hilery)
  20. Nate shook his head and turned toward the voice. His mouth opened in surprise seeing a doppelganger of the gentleman on the ground. He heard yelling from the courthouse. He ran inside instead of taking a chance with the fella outside. (CUE CULLY!!!!)
  21. Nate walked over to the County Courthouse. His foot touched something near the steps. He looked to see an unconcious male body. He reached down and felt for a pulse... it was weak. He fumbled around for a wallet and found one in a trouser pocket. Eyebrows rose up as he read the driver's license name ... Rosco P. Coltrane.
  22. I think Joseph will be a nice addition to this community. So Welcome to Hazzard, Renee. Wether your stay is years like some of us have been here or months, I hope you enjoy yourself. 8) P.S. Welcome to Hazzard, Dixie Davenport. Your story in the other area is interesting, keep up the good work.
  23. Daney watched Ian and Min run. She turned to stroll over to Doc’s house. A dark haired man bumped into her. “Nate!†She gasped in surprise. “What are you doin' here in Hazzard?†Green brown hazel eyes stared into the light green eyes. His attire of silk shirt and jeans clung tightly to a muscular six-foot frame. “I signed papers to turn the music store into my new law office.†“That's nice," Daney commented. “You want a tour?†He asked. “Right now? There was just a tornado and another one could hit,†Daney paused. “I really should go check on folks.†“You could check on me first,†He smiled. Daney felt uncomfortable. “C’mon,†Nate urged. "It’ll just take a few minutes." “I don’t know,†Daney hesitated. She really should be searching her kin, friends/accquiatnaces like Chance and Val. Nate’s response was to plant a kiss on her mouth. "Say you will," he whispered. “I need to make sure my cousins and friends are ok.†She hurried away. When she reached Doc Walker’s house, a frown came to her lips as she saw the damage to Chance’s property. “Poor C, lost her porch.†Realizing that she couldn’t exactly use the front door to go in and see how the Doc was, she took a hazardous path to the back door. (Cue Chance)
