Hey y'all. Probably only those of you who grew up watching the Dukes in its original CBS run will know what I'm talking about, but do you remember midway through the show, during a commercial break, they would show that same shot of Waylon's hands and guitar, playing a snippet of the theme song, which faded into a shot of the General Lee flying through the air and Waylon's voice saying "Dukes of Hazzard will continue" and the General was then freeze-framed in mid air? They also did the same thing as the show was coming back from the break, only there was no voice-over from Waylon, it was just the music playing over the shot. Well, I was just thinking that would make an awesome screensaver, if anyone had a downloadable version to put on the net for fans to use. I would prefer the second version, without the Waylon voice-over. But I imagine it would be hard to get unless there are fans out there with original recordings from CBS, including the commercials. Any thoughts? -Keith

Whatever they decide to do for a sequel (and I really hope they'll make one), Luke should get to drive the General at least half the time. Can I get a "Yeee-Haa" on this? I mean, I know the General is Bo's car in the movie, and yeah he's totally obsessed with it, but come on, he oughta share a little, even if he's supposed to be a better driver than Luke. If y'all recall, in the first episode of the show, the General was supposed to be just Bo's car. Luke had his own car, but Cooter wrecked it. Then as the show went on, the writers came up with the concept of the General being half-owned by each of the boys. And of course Luke drove the General more and more right up until the end. So yeah, give Luke a chance in the sequel. He could jump it just as well as Bo. -Keith

I think expecting any of the original Dukes cast to be involved with the DVD is DEFINITELY wishful thinking. This is about the movie, not the TV show. Each season of the show that has been released so far has had special features, usually including commentary and interviews with some of the cast. I think we can expect that to continue with future releases, so there is really no need for the original cast to be involved with any of the movie stuff. I think John Schneider would be the only one who would even want to anyway. I believe the people involved with the movie have been trying to separate the movie and the show as much as possible from day one, except for the movie itself capturing the spirit of the show. And that's probably the way they want to keep it. That's just my two cents, though. -Keith

I separated the movie from the series going into it, which is probably one of the reasons I was able to enjoy it. I accepted it on its own merits, because you can't really compare it to the show, although there are certainly elements throughout the film that capture the spirit of the show. Anyway, on to one of my favorite parts of the movie. For anyone who has not seen it yet, you may not want to read further. When the boys were being chased in the beginning of the movie and they came to the first big jump, crashing through those construction barriers and hitting that huge pile of dirt, the General flying high in slow motion with dust flying behind it (a beautiful camera shot, by the way), the boys yelling "Yeeeee-Haaa!!", and then....that wonderful oh-so-familiar freeze frame. Man, my heart was pounding! And if all this weren't enough, Waylon's recording of "Good Ol' Boys" began playing right at the freeze frame, with "THE DUKES OF HAZZARD" (in the same logo style we've seen on countless Dukes merchandise) moving toward the movie screen in big red letters. It was the perfect place to insert the song, and all the right elements were blended together just for that one shot. At that moment, I got goosebumps. It was almost enough to bring a tear to the eye. Maybe I'm overplaying it, because there are probably some of you out there who hated the movie LOL but that's how I felt at that particular moment anyway. Anyone else have similar reactions, or am I completely alone here? -Keith

It plays for like 10 seconds and then it pauses, saying it's "buffering", then it resumes for another 10 seconds and so on and so forth. I want to be able to hear the song the whole way through without all that stopping and crap. -Keith

Since we don't have a listing of the tracks yet for the Dukes movie soundtrack, does anyone think we'll get to hear both Willie Nelson AND Cage9's renditions of "Good Ol' Boys"? I hope so, personally. It would be nice to have a couple different versions, though none will measure up to Waylon Jennings' of course. Some of us have heard Willie's take on it either on Nick and Jessica's Tour of Duty TV special or a snippet of it on the exclusive Wal-Mart Dukes DVD. I know there have been soundtracks for other movies on which there are more than one version of the movie's theme, which makes me think they'll do the same thing here. But who knows? -Keith

As far as the acting on the original Dukes, I blame any less-than-good stuff on the writing, not the actors. They were merely doing things the way it was laid out for them. If you recall, Tom Wopat and John Schneider have mentioned numerous times in interviews that the writing was terrible, and it got worse the further along the series went. They hated it themselves, and they were the stars! The writers scripted the shows the way THEY perceived southerners to be, and the actors had to comply with that as much as possible if they wanted to keep the show (and their careers) going. Besides, it was supposed to be kinda corny at times. This was the Dukes of Hazzard; they weren't re-doing Shakespeare's plays, you know what I mean? And that's what made it fun. That's what Dukes is all about: FUN. I think the trouble with some fans lately is that they've been so busy complaining that they've lost sight of what made them enjoy the Dukes in the first place. Is it so hard to get back to that? Opinions are great, that's one of the things that makes this world diverse. But there's a fine line between honest opinion and outright bashing. And as long as we're on the subject of opinions, here's one of mine: I think those who want to trash a movie they haven't even seen yet, or want to bash anything concerning the Dukes, should go start their own forum somewhere else and leave this one for the objective fans with open minds. Someone mentioned the upcoming Herbie movie, and that's another great example. As a kid, I loved the Herbie films. The Love Bug was the first movie I ever saw (on video of course since it was way before my time). Now there are a LOT of changes in this new movie, but I'm still going to go see it because it reminds me of my childhood and will undoubtedly bring a smile to my face. So what if Herbie's '53' looks a little different, and the stripes don't go over the sunroof, and Herbie has visors on his headlights? What made those movies work was not how Herbie looked, but his "personality." As long as that stays intact, the new movie will work too. So anyway, I'm through rambling again. I'll step down off my soapbox for now, although I'm sure something will get me started again somewhere down the line LOL Let's just enjoy the Dukes, OK? I'm down and I'm gone. -Keith

I'm as true blue a Dukes of Hazzard fan as anyone on this board, but you know what? I'm not knocking this movie to shreds. I'm actually looking forward to seeing it, a LOT. They may not be the original cast, and no one will ever be as good as them, but at least someone is taking the effort to put a new spin on the franchise. I'd rather see it done differently than to watch everyone try to imitate the original characters. That's WHY you're not going to see a "kee kee kee" giggling Rosco. That's WHY Boss Hogg is taller and thinner. That's WHY Daisy is blonde instead of a brunette. This is a totally new take on the Dukes. At least the General Lee still looks the same, unless you want to knit-pick about there being white lettering on the tires this time around, and to be honest I'm surprised nobody made a negative comment about even a tiny little thing like that. Personally, I can't wait to see the General sliding around and flying high on the big screen. And it's only fitting that Burt Reynolds be involved in this film. He was mentioned no less than three times in the series, and in many ways Smokey and the Bandit inspired the feel of the show, with the whole good ol' boys vs. crooked cops and the southern car racing and CB culture, even though Moonrunners was released before that movie. I'll say again that anyone who has any complaints about the movie, I suggest you wait and see it and take it for what it is, on its own merits. Don't compare it to the series because it's NOT the series. It's not a continuation of the show or anything, it's brand new, re-creating the whole Dukes storyline in a new way. Or like some of the others have said on here, if you feel the movie is going to ruin your love of the Dukes, then DON'T go see it. But you can't get away from it entirely. After all, you know the movie will be out in theaters, and pretty soon there will be merchandise all over the place with the new cast's pictures plastered on it, then the DVD will be out, and so on and so forth. It's gonna be there, so you might as well just roll with it. I don't care what anyone says, I think the Dukes movie is going to rock the box office, and I'm going to laugh when it outgrosses Star Wars Episode III. Well, I've said my piece. Hmmm. Sounds interesting for sure. Not that I'm doubting your word, but it hardly seems reasonable to me that the filmmakers would "forget" to shoot an important scene, especially where there's time and money involved. The movie is only two months away from being released. Plus I read somewhere else on here that Seann William Scott is already filming his next movie, and that he shaved his beard and cut his hair for it. That wouldn't look right if they called him back in to shoot a scene with him looking like that. That would be a huge continuity error. Again, not doubting you, but that just seems kinda crazy to me. But what do I know? I'm definitely not in the movie business. -Keith

Hey, Will. Good to see you posting stuff on here. This is your ol' buddy Keith. We first met at the 2nd Dukes Fan Club convention in Georgia. I know what you mean about the "Carnival of Thrills" episode. I feel your frustration. That is one of the best episodes of the series and I hate the way Warner Bros. breaks up the episode from its original format. However, I do have a copy of it in the movie format. It's the originial airing from September 16, 1980 on CBS. But it's not the best quality of course because it's 25 years old. For anyone who hasn't seen the episode the way it was meant to be seen, there are at least 3 little extended scenes that were cut from the two-parter. I've never seen "10 Million Dollar Sheriff" in its movie format, so I can't say if there was anything cut from it. But Warner really should re-release these two episodes in their feature-length versions, maybe as separate DVD releases or something. That would be cool, but I don't know if it will happen. Anyway, keep it between the ditches everybody! -Keith

Well, I managed to get a copy of the pilot episode DVD with the new movie footage at Wal-Mart. I gotta say, it was worth the three bucks for the behind-the-scenes look at the movie. This is the most extensive coverage of the movie so far, and I'd definitely recommend that anyone who can get their hands on this DVD, buy it! Luckily the Wal-Mart closest to me had plenty of copies, but it looks like some people on here are having a little trouble finding them. If all else fails, I'd suggest getting on wal-mart.com and trying to find it there, maybe order it. Those of you who might still be skeptical about the movie, even after seeing the trailer and TV spots, check out this DVD and see if it changes your mind a little. I'm getting more hyped every day about seeing the movie! Even though it's not going to be the same ol' Dukes we all know and love, the movie looks like it's gonna be great on its own merits. But based on what I saw on the DVD, it seems like in many ways they really have tried to capture the feel of the series, especially with the car stuff, holy cow! Hey, gang. Has anyone heard anything else about the additional Dukes DVD release that was supposed to be out today? It was supposed to be just a single disc with only the first episode "One Armed Bandits", but it was also supposed to have a behind-the-scenes look at the new movie, which is the only reason I'm interested in the DVD since I already have the first episode in the first season set. Anyone know what the deal is on this? Is it in stores today along with season three? -Keith

This may seem like an odd question, but does anyone have an idea where I might be able to get authentic reproductions of some of the shirts worn by Tom Wopat and John Schneider on "Dukes"? I have an authentic "Magnum, P.I." shirt as worn by Tom Selleck. There's a place in Hawaii that makes them, and you can get them in any size. Looks just like the one he wore on the show, it's pretty cool. This prompted me to see if I could find a place that actually makes replica "Dukes" shirts (for example, Bo's yellow shirt or one of Luke's many plaid shirts). I've searched the web, but turned up nothing. If anyone can help me out, let me know. -Keith

I've noticed there's been some confusion as to who is playing Cooter and what sort of role he has in the movie, and I think that's largely due to misinformation on other websites. But anyway, Cooter is being played by David Koechner (Champ in "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy"), and the guy everyone keeps talking about that's crazy and wears the bathrobe and stuff, from what I understand, is NOT Cooter, but one of his assistants or something. If anyone has other information, that's cool. But as far as I know, this is correct. -Keith

Hey, y'all. I'm new to the board but not new to the website. Does anyone have any thoughts on when we can expect to see an official movie poster for the Dukes? I keep checking the IMDB frequently, since usually that's one of the first places an official poster will pop up, but I haven't seen anything yet. -Keith

Actually, Jesse would have had at least 6 brothers. We're forgetting about one cousin: Jeb Stuart Duke, who appeared in the episode "Along Came a Duke." As for Jesse's marriage, I think he was actually married twice. In episodes like "Follow That Still," it's mentioned that his "misses passed on." But in "Return of the Ridge Raiders," Jesse mentions Aunt Lavinia, and Luke says to Bo that "Uncle Jesse ain't spoke to Aunt Lavinia in 20 years," which would mean Lavinia was his second wife because she was still living, and he obviously divorced her because they weren't on speaking terms anymore. This could have merely been a continuity error of course, but this is the explanation I've come up with. -Keith
