Just curious. I plan on recording them from CMT on VHS. I was going to buy the Smokeyand the Bandit DVD today, but read that it is in widescreen, put it back, and said "Bring back the VHS tape!" Poor folks like me can't run out and buy a 16:9 ratio TV. :D

To my knowledge they aren't. Well, not the old shows anyway. ER is shot in widescreen format. But that's something new. I have seen someone take a show and convert it to widescreen format but really its pointless because unlike movies what you see is what you get on the small screen.

Eww, don't tell me you prefer the "chopped off" version of movies, otherwise known as "pan n' scan" or the misleading "full screen." I'd gladly live with little black bars on the top and bottom of the picture is it means I don't lose 1/3 of the image.

That's my widescreen vs. butchered screen soapbox.
