Why Do The Dukes Sit On The Car Door?

I notice they do that a lot, and don't see anyone do this in real life until a couple months ago, I seen seem teenagers sitting on the car door.
I used to do that sometimes until my Dad said it looks silly, and isn't polite or something like that.

I think mostly it's because the doors were ( supposedly....but not really) welded shut, the way real race cars are!
