pendragon1980
A while ago I posted the idea that certain songs attached to different fanfiction stories, to set the mood. As I always to listen to music while writing, I always find myself listening to the same dozen or so songs for certain characters, to set myself my mindset to that character. I'm curious if anyone does the same, and include your character's list of songs. I realize songs change with the character, but it's like a snapshot into the character's head. MaryAnne
Ooo, interesting thread!I listen to music too when I write, tho' more often than not I have a soundtrack for a paticular story, as opposed to a soundtrack or playlist for a paticular character. Often the soundtrack will have a song that fits a character...within the context of the story. The most recent story I completed, Southern Cross: Crossfire had the following selections...CrossfireTightropeRough BoyRainy Night in GeorgiaIt's in the Way That You Use ItCaptain of Her HeartTouch and GoEminence FrontThat's the Way a Cowboy Rocks 'n RollsFire (Arthur Brown. "I am the God of Hellfire! And I bring you..." LOL)Some songs fit the story (some are actually IN the story, "Rainy Night in Georgia" and Arthur Brown's "Fire.") Others were just good background music to write to, put me a zone.

Val Strate
Good topic Doc! I'd have to say that Val's playlist is varied. I can't place a certain genre of music for her. However I have the songs all lined up for her. Hell on the Heart - Eric ChurchGreen Grass and High Tides - The OutlawsGo to the Woods - Dar WilliamsThe Climb - Miley CyrusI Saw God Today - George StraitWalk on Water - Britt NicoleWhat Faith Can Do - Kutless Famous in a Small Town - Miranda LambertShe Took it Like a Man - Confederate RailroadCrazy Ex-Girlfriend - Miranda LambertIf Today Was Your Last Day - NicklebackIf I Die Young - The Band PerryInteresting mix I think that she's choosen, but it says a lot about her. Garrett Duke
I have to agree this is a good topic, though can't exactly pin an exact song that Garrett seems to like or suits him best. Generally it is the entire CD playing.Kutless- Strong Tower CDKenny Chesney - No shoes, No Shirt, No Problem CD ...or any of his Greatest Hits CDKeith Urban - Golden Road CD - Greatest HitsToby Keith - Greatest Hits One and twoTim McGraw - Greatest Hits 2Dwight Yoakam - his latest Greatest Hits albumWaylon Jennings - any of his hits CDs that I haveAs it looks a lot of Greatest Hits from favorite artists with well played song or well known songs on them. Either Christian or Country.
EnosIsMyHero
I know this thread is old, but I like it I do the playlist for each story, too, and then I usually put it on my USB drive and listen to it in the car (and drive my hubby nuts 'cause he wants to know why I keep listening to the same songs over and over again, and I'd never live it down if I told him I was listening to my fanfic playlist, lol). I have a pretty wide range of music I listen to and most of the time a certain song will fit with a certain chapter or theme in the story, not necessarily the entire fanfic. For my fanfic "Beneath a Hazzard Moon", the songs I listened to the most were:Body Parts - Plain White T'sI will write you a song - Plain White T'sIn My Time of Need - OpethHope Leaves - OpethRainy Night in Georgia - Brooke BentonI will Remember You - Sarah McLachlanWhat About Now? - Chris DaughtrySeven Bridges Road - EaglesCountry Roads - John DenverBreathe Into Me - Red When You Were Mine - Saigon KickFor my fanfic, "The Story of Us", they are:When You're Next to Me - from "A Mighty Wind"Someday Never Comes - CCREdge of Seventeen - Stevie NicksHome - Chris DaughtrySimple Man - Lynyrd SkynyrdGood-bye - Night RangerSilver Road - Sarah HarmerThe Other Side of the Door - Taylor SwiftDeath Whispered a Lullaby- OpethAnd, of course, since both stories are Enos/Daisy stories I can't leave out "Dear Daisy" and "Back in Hazzard" by Sonny Shroyer.
