Bo sighed and shook his head mockingly, saying with an obviously fake sad face.

"You know I pity you Daisy....yer so immature...you haven't learnt how t'deal with adults the adult way yet...its such a shame..."

"Me immature?! You're the one stuck crickets in my bed last week!" exclaimed Daisy.

"Actually that was Luke...was one of the rare times he actually paid attention to anythin'...course he had been drinkin a bit before then.."

Bo suddenly mused.

"That....was...LUKE?! I'll kill him...." she declared.

Bo laughed and shook his head.

"Did you really think I'd be able to catch that many crickets? He was the only one ever to be able to actually catch them...i've always been useless at it. Frogs were more my specialty."

"Yeah well I think Mr. Luke better hang onto his shorts, cuz he's gonna walk mighty stiff for a few days...." returned Daisy.

"Awww Dais c'mon....leave him alone. Don't you think he's got enough on his plate right now...when he was doin it he actually had a smile on his face that I ain't seen for weeks...can't you just let it slide this once?"

Bo said seriously, climbing down from the tree despite the frying pan still in Daisy's hand.

Daisy looked towards the barn. "He was smiling?" she asked softly. It had been a long time since she saw her older cousin smile.

"Yeah..." Bo replied softly back, putting an arm gently round her shoulders as he looked to the barn as well. "Actually smiling like he had something to smile for...not just cause he had to..."

Daisy's face softened. "Then it was worth it," she said quietly leaning into Bo's shoulder.

Bo nodded, kissing the top of her head gently with a small sigh. It was hard watching Luke be like he was...he wasn't exactly unhappy...he just...wasn't as happy as he should have been.

"I'm worried for him Bo..." admitted Daisy softly.

Luke meanwhile wasn't stacking the hay. Instead he was sitting on a haybale, his head leaning against the wall, his lip quivering softly.

Bo nodded gently, rubbing her arm softly.

"I am too darlin..."

Daisy sighed. "He's so sad all the time...not depressed...just..." she began, not quite knowing how to express herself.

"Not happy either...I know what ya mean..." Bo replied understandingly.

"Yeah," said Daisy softly.

Luke wiped a stray tear that trickled down his face, with a gentle sigh.

Bo sighed gently and hugged Daisy a little more before letting her go.

"Like Uncle Jesse said though,we gotta let him work through this on his own till he asks us for help...we can't know what the problem is till he does. If Uncle Jesse ain't so worried about him then we ain't got a reason to be either...we just gotta trust in Luke he'll ask for help eventually."

"I know," said Daisy softly.

Luke meanwhile continued to sit in the barn, once more lost in thought.

"C'mon then...you got work soon aintcha? I'll drive ya in the General...he needs a chance t'stretch his legs out some...we aint been able ta fer a while."

Bo said with a grin, but still rubbing his big sisters back comfortingly.

Daisy smiled with a nod. "Ok, just let me get my bag..."

Quickly she went inside, grabbing her bag before returning to Bo and the General, climbing in. "Let's go."

Bo climbed in too and started the powerful engine, stepping on the gas a few times to hear the engine growl before heading out the farm and to the Boar's Nest. Hr had a small hope that if he and Daisy were away, Luke would take the time to talk to Jesse.

Luke eventually made his way inside once more taking a few albums looking at the family pictures. He thought long and hard about what he was seeing in the pictures before saying softly, "Uncle Jesse?"

Jesse looked up from where he was sitting reading his paper, studying Luke a little before answering in just as gentle and caring a tone.

"Yes son?"

"Uncle Jesse I... I...I'm lonely," said Luke shame in his voice.

"Lonely?" He answered with a pretend hint of confusion that sounded real, glad that he still knew his boys well enough to figure out what was wrong with them before they actually told him. "What d'you mean?"
