November 17, 200718 yr Been addicted to Shortwave Radio for so many years I've done lost count. Really want to get my Amateur Radio License (HAM License) someday. Was curious if there are any other SWL's or HAM's or potential HAM's around here?Anyone not familiar with either one... could simply ask the magic google box.
August 17, 200818 yr Hi,my husband has his amateur radio operator's license, but he hasn't used it in eons. He even has an old radio (some 30 years old) that he used to use. We don't know if it works, but maybe one day, he'll have it up and running. He's doubtful, but I think once we get a house, we might be able to get him started, and who knows, maybe I'll start working to get my operators license too.Stranger things have happened.
September 12, 200817 yr While Googling, do a search for "SWL Call Signs" and easily find out how to obtain a unique identifier for your monitoring station that is ideal for QSL'ing.
March 14, 201016 yr I am not familiar with either of those but I yak on my CB radio when I can. I guess that comes from being in a family of truckers all my life. In fact my handle on here is what I go by on the CB radio and is in memory of my uncle who died from Colon Cancer. He always went by Sleepy on the radio and called me his "Little Rose" so I go by Sleepy's Rose on the radio in memory of him. Would love to find out what you need to do to get your HAMM license though I have a friend in WI who is into that.
