  1. The short version is they belived WB to be cheating them out of a lot of money in royalties and they sued over it. Eventually it turned out to be a book keeping error and everything was dropped and they returned to the show and have since realized how badly they screwed up.
  2. With the Coy and Vance episodes looking to start this week on CMT, it got me thinking what might could have been done with these characters if the producers just hadn't made them simple Bo and Luke clones. Here's my take on what could have been done with these characters: First, Coy. What if Coy and his family were still running shine? Nowhere was it stated that Jesse was the only Duke in the shine business and if it was a family tradition, it seems to me that some of his brothers and sisters would have been in it as well. Also, the agreement that Jesse signed said that he would never make moonshine again for Bo and Luke's freedom. It didn't say anything about the whole Duke family not making any. Well one of those brothers I mentioned earlier could have been Coy's father and suppose that he was still big in the moonshine business and Coy had been running shine with/for him for quite a few years, stopping only because his dad got word that Jesse was going to need help running his farm as Bo and Luke were leaving for the NASCAR circuit. And what if Vance had also been in the military as Luke was, but unlike Luke, had just been discharged and he had come to Jesse's farm to help out there while Bo and Luke were gone? Unlike Luke, he made more of a career in the military eventually becoming a member of the Green Berets or some group like that. Well, that's my thought on what might could have been done with these characters. If anyone has any different opinions, feel free to say so.
  3. All right!!!!!!
  4. I don't know if I love them or not, but I do like a fair number of them. I still say that the episode where Jesse was blinded and kidnapped by the bank robbers is one of the best episodes of Dukes period and if I remember right, that was the last full Coy and Vance episode. I loved how they brought Enos back, the state police giving Boss the choice of either rehiring him as a Hazzard deputy or they were putting him in as a state patrolman and he would have been out of Boss's authority and influence so Boss rehired him. I agree. The show could have ended, but the show kept going and I think it did allright. Cherry and Meyer did what they could with what they were given and if anyone should be blamed, it should be Warners and the producers for insisting on clones. I think John said it best, this was an opportunity to see if Paul Picard's theory that the General Lee was the real star of the show instead of Bo and Luke and obviously it wasn't. Bring on all of the rest of the show to DVD and soon!! Including Season 5!!!!
  5. The videos were available when the films came out. I don't know about now though. I recorded the first one but missed the second one. From what I've heard of it I didn't miss a lot though it seems.
  6. It's probably something that happened after the show ended and before everyone left. The one you're thinking of that the General tied in was the race where Bo drove the General and Luke had to drive Cooter's car because he got hurt in a test drive, I believe.
  7. Find Loretta Lynn The Ghost of General Lee The one with Cale Yarborough.
  8. That, and then they got a trailer, which IIRC, they kept for a brief time, and then took away again and Best went off, ostensibly for good, and he said something to the effect of that the was "leaving and going back to the Florida swamps and there's no one in California with the intestinal fortitude to come get me" and so they finally got something decent I believe, and so Best came back.
  9. Looked good. I liked it.
  10. Looking at the TV shows on DVD website, looks like it was about 7 months between the release of seasons 1 and 2, so my guess would be that season 3 will come out sometime around late August or early September.
  11. I got the first two seasons. They cost less than 30 bucks each at my local Wal-Mart. I'm just anxiously awaiting season 3 now. Been a long time since I seen the uncut "Carnival of Thrills." And yes, I will get season 5 on DVD. One reason is, for the sake of completeness, and two, because I'd like to see some of those Coy and Vance episodes uncut. Especially "The New Dukes" and the one where Uncle Jesse is blinded by the bank robbers. That was one of the best episodes of the entire series, IMO.
  12. Hi newbie here. I've heard of a few Coy's, and I think one or two guys named Vance. Obviously, Luke is pretty common, but the one I've never heard is Bo.
