  1. Around here I've been alleged to be a possible "insider" (thanks Mary Anne). I have seen a lot going on with this movie. I, as everybody else, can only hope it'll be a good movie. I do know the action scenes will be the best I've ever seen. My only complaint is finding out the secrets of Hollywood and being there during filming. It took literally ALL day to get the BIG jump through downtown Clinton. And it was cold. In the movie you'll only see about 15 seconds of it. It's cool don't get me wrong, but I think I'm gonna be analyzing the movie as I watch it on the big screen. Darn. I might have to see it more than once! :)

  2. None of the radios in any of the cars worked. Similar to the horn. None of the cars had one. The music and the horns were added during post-production.

On a side-note...only one G.L. had a horn prior to production. It was quickly removed because all of us were alleged to have honked it more times that many. It apparently got old to several crew members so it was removed and placed "elsewhere". It wound up on the GoCar. Where it probably still is. Hmmf

  3. T-Man, I was introduced to Photobucket.com a while back. It's easy to set up an account and run from there. It's really come in handy in this forum since I seem to be too illiterate to be able to post an image within this text box. (Thanks again, Brad) There are other sites to go to other than Photobucket but I was snagged by its simplicity.

By the way, keep up the digital work. I got my degree in Graphic Design but don't really use it too much anymore in my job description here. I'm still paying for it, dangit, but I ain't using it, 'cept for in here...

  4. Not that I've seen the movie or anything like that (...), but I think SWS did a very good job in the flick. Both Duke boys' accents seem to be authentic. Daisy's? Well, let's just say she's been up north somewhere too long. I don't see her in too many more Southern-style movies. Willie is the coolest...played the part very well. It's still Uncle Jesse, but with a newer approach. (don't worry, he did do it justice). Too many cast members for me to say here, but, you'll all have a good time.

  5. Capt. Redneck...you are not wrong in your assumption. I met him at the wrap party before I even knew he was in Con Air. Of course I watched Con Air shortly after that night and almost didn't even recognize him. He musta got ahold of some of our Cajun cookin' down here. That stuff has a tendancy to balloon one's middle section (ask my ex-wife...shhhhh)

But a super guy! He's good people. Besides the fact that he was hitting on my wife, we were all hanging together. Actually you wouldn't have even noticed he was a big Hollywood type. He mingled with the best of us rednecks down here. (not much of a dancer though)

I think you'll like him as Roscoe. He's got the part down, but he does add a little sense to him. Roscoe's not the COMPLETE idiot he was anymore.

As far as me being the insider, naaaahhhh. BUT, here's a little inside info. And it's gonna make a few people angry in California. Check out the magazine "Mopar Collector's Guide" for a 3-part series of the DOH movie. The mag is printed here and the staff was incredibly helpful in procuring muscle cars for the movie. The DOH people don't want any of this info leaked out prior to the movie opening but I guess some people are impatient. Some cool shots will be printed (again...shhhhh)

I'm shuttin' up now, y'all be good.

  6. .........."... Oh and those jump scenes are CLEARLY CGI, its just progressed to the point where most people can't tell... The jumps are similar to the climax one in the remake of Gone in 60 Seconds... You really can't blame them for the CGI, its not like there are thousands of Chargers lying around anymore... Oh and anyone else notice how the OLD crown vics are the ones used in stunts, love the producers!"..........

Okay, I had to reply! I gotta stick up for my boys. The ONLY CGI done as far as stunts go is small items to remove. Dummies were placed inside the cars during jumps to show driver/passenger placement but were later removed via computer and digital actors were put in. You won't be able to tell, even if you watch it over and over again. As far as the interstate jump being CGI...I won't argue it any but I will say wait till the DVD comes out. It's ALL real. It'll drop your jaw. And as far as old Crown Vics being the only sacrificial cars...trust me, many new models were trashed. One in particular had a huge hydraulic ram mounted lengthways inside the car to shoot it up into the air. I won't say what scene but look for a bow and arrow.

  7. All I gotta say is, get over it. Anybody will knock anything to shreds, that's their right. On this particular site, we are pretty much all for the movie and ready for it to hit the big screen. It hurts my ears listening to people complain about the small stuff, but on this site there should be no complaining. I strongly believe even the people that talked smack will eventually see the movie one way or the other. They'll rent it and watch it while they're alone in a dark living room and go, "COOL". My only complaint is I watched the filming every weekend and helped with many aspects. To know how the stunts were done and how long it took for each stunt to be done and...well, you know...I'm afraid I'll be analyzing the movie at every frame instead of enjoying the meat of it. I guess I'll just break down and get the DVD so I can see it over and over. By the way, the DVD is going to be the best! For all the extras I mean.

I think a majority of the money to be made on this movie will come from the original DOH generation. From the link I attached, is where the rest will come from. My 11 year old just watched the trailer again for, like, the 50th time. He's loving it and that fuels me even more to want to go see it! I foresee this car/movie/cast will generate millions in toy sales alone. We'll see.

Oh, and Traveler? You da man.

  8. I'm just so happy. Just another step closer. The movie buzz over here faded a little from waiting so long, but now....I have a feeling that all the nay-sayers who wanted to "boycott" this film will eventually see it. Curiosity will overcome them and they will realize how silly their idea sounded. Anyway, I'm still being impatient on the movie release!!

Believe it or not, this link shows the interstate jump car. It was privately owned, sold to WB's and bought back (never for street use---papers shredded). This photo was taken in preparation for the BIG jump through the town square (in the trailer). This was the second sling-car used and worked very well on the interstate...after a couple of mishaps. This was a really nice mishap. The video of that will be released in August also. As per the Public Relations Gestapo.

Note the crumpled up GL in the background? That's the first GL used in the film. The opening sequence of the movie, that GL is frozen in mid air as the balladeer speaks. Of course after it continues on its flight, it lands perfectly/without a scratch/keeps on driving. This photo showed what REALLY happened to it when it landed. Again, a beautiful mishap. (It was a rustbucket anyway)

  9. I also have a little insight on the new Herbie movie coming out. The cars were built by the same guys that did the General Lee...sorta. A fella named Garnet Baril in California built pretty much all the Beetles for the movie. I have a disk around here somewhere with pictures from the production. I wasn't really planning on seeing the movie but the Bug sounds awesome. And to be perfectly honest, (I'm gonna get lynched for this I know) Herbie would smack the General Lee's orange bottom if put side by side. Mind you it was not a stock, production Beetle in the movie. The body panels were about the only stock parts. The frame was custom (tube chassis) but there was a VW motor/transmission; albeit a tad beefed up. Herbie actually ran with real NASCAR racers on the track and kept up easily at OVER 170+ MPH. NASCAR let Herbie participate with the other racers just prior to the races getting underway, and a few yellow laps. One of the NASCAR drivers literally laughed when he saw the Beetles out there...until he ran against it. In reality though, the GL is far more recognizable than Herbie ANYDAY. I look at the two cars as which one could pick up chicks faster. Damn, Lindsay Lohan is better looking than Jessica Simpson. Hmmmm. Let me re-think this stuff.

(if I happen upon the Herbie disk amongst all this chaos we call a computer room, I'll include the pics!)

  10. Car chase scenes....OH YEAH. Someone else in the room saw the footage months ago at the wrap party with me. Trust me, the Bourne Supremecy was good...BUT, the DOH chase scenes will make your toes curl. If you really, really like cop cars, you might cringe a bit.

One particular scene (I won't say who's car it was but it was white) t-bones an old Caprice cop car. The offending vehicle was structurally a tank with many pounds of extra steel welded in to strengthen it. The Caprice? Ha. Didn't stand a chance. The passenger seat was laying on top of the driver's seat.

The whole movie is like that. I'm there, dude!

  11. Awesome post. I had a couple more pictures of the GoCar here. This is the same one Kevin Scott drove in Bourne Supremacy. I've seen it in action many times and let me tell ya...for something that looks so lumpy and ragged, it'll go faster that many of the regular cars used in the movie. It's only got a big block Ford engine in it. :D Also it's got air bags which makes it ride pretty smooth and helps with the handling.

As a side note, I found out along the way that only one General Lee had the Dixie horn when the filming started. But someone got tired of everyone hitting the horn, it was removed "post-haste and made gone". It eventually found its way on to the Go Car. Thus, never heard again.

The picture in the previous post was the car used to simulate spinning of the General Lee. That particular set-up wasn't very fast. It was sorta unsafe at high speeds so it was kept for lower speeds. That set-up was so the actors could actually be filmed doing dusty burn-outs and slides sideways. You'll see in the opening minute or so of the movie...

Now, the one General Lee with the roof mounted pod is a sore subject...and I may start a new thread here. That is one of two ORIGINAL General Lee's from the TV series. The roof was gashed open to accomodate the pod. This ride was battered and torn because it's the one you're gonna see most in the movie. Able to put camera mounts all on the inside, it get's the good close-up shots while the boys are driving and jumping. But this car also had to be baby'd, 'cause it was used throughout the filming as the old faded GL and then rebuilt into the shiny girl. The other original GL now has the massive SEMA special 600+HP HEMI put in it. It'll be shown for Cooter-close-ups and then shown around the world as Warner Brother's took possession of her.

I think I'll shut up now...it's too early.
