On The Set Of " High Octane " PM Magazine - 1979
Mark B / Scooter Davenport replied to DukesPorkys1982's topic in Dukes of Hazzard General DiscussionI misunderstood Hobie's original comment- I though he was referring to the 'real deal' of the southern accent, being from the south, etc. I was pointing out Ben was a 'real deal' southerner like Jimmy Best. That's what I get for trying to speed read! Yes, I'd say Jimmy, Sorrel and Denver had the market cornered on acting range and experience. Funny- as a kid you don't know all that stuff and just accept what you see on he show. Its so much fun to look back now and realize what an amazing mix of talent went into a show that so many were dismissive of. Mark

Thanks Mr. Potter! Gotta make it feel like home, and there weren't no plastic in the Hazzard Garage back then! Mark

The Hazzard Garage (Cooter's Garage)
There's no wood involved- its all sheet plastic. I use a scriber to delineate the boards, and some very large-grit sandpaper dragged across the surface. M

The Hazzard Garage (Cooter's Garage)
Haha- there are a bunch of things about that 1/25 diecast General that need to be painted; bugs me a lot, but I have to concentrate on the building. Its really just a stand in for the one that will be in there in the end. Mark

Hazzard Police sign
Somebody on one of the DVD commentaries (Gy Waldron I think?) talked about how they never rains in Hazzard, which is fortunate since the General Lee doesn't seem to have side windows. M

The Hazzard Garage (Cooter's Garage)
Those are Battlestar Galactica characters; they were the only other 1/24 scale figure I had handy. And that isn't necessarily Daisy, although it could certainly pass for her; its a 1/24 figure made for large scale model railroading. M

The Hazzard Garage (Cooter's Garage)
More bits- this piece is an interesting one. Through the run of the show, at least 3 different auto testers seen in the garage. With HossC's help, most have been ID'd as Sun brand machines. One however has defied identification. Hoss speculates that it was just a prop made to simulate one of these types of machines, and I tend to agree. Either way, here is my scale version of it. Interior layout of the Boar's Nest
Mark B / Scooter Davenport replied to Mark B / Scooter Davenport's topic in Dukes of Hazzard General DiscussionFinally finished reviewing ALL 7 seasons of Dukes looking for variations, additions, and details of the Boar's Nest. Other than what we've covered in this thread, I found that there is a ladder in the back closet that leads up to a hatch in the roof, a vent that a midget can crawl through, a 'store room' someplace back behind those double doors, and a double sink on a wall back there next to the exterior door. John Wayne at Cooter's Garage!
There are also some good scenes inside Cooter's- the entire garage is filled with hay and horses! Also, you get to see what's inside that 'office' area of the building; I don't believe the camera ever ventured in there during Dukes. Mark

Interior layout of the Boar's Nest
Mark B / Scooter Davenport replied to Mark B / Scooter Davenport's topic in Dukes of Hazzard General Discussion"Bad Day In Hazzard" shows a 'supply room' someplace back through the 'receiving' doors. Its a separate little set not connected to the rest of the Boar's Nest set, so its exact location is vague. Also- take a look at this: It's the edge of the set! That back wall that I previously mentioned was rarely seen after season 2. https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3925/15048584302_f335c67212_b.jpg' alt='15048584302_f335c67212_b.jpg'>BN edge of set by mommydawn2000, on Flickr
