Worked on the car again today. Drivers side floor is partially cut out & almost ready for the new one. Had to stop & do other things.
Trunk floor & extensions are in & welded & the rear end caps are tied in to the valance panel also.
The trunk inside & underneath are Por-15'ed (anti rust inhibitor).
Here are some shos of todays work:

Welding? On a good day, I get all fired up and maybe change the oil by myself, or fill up the washer-wiper thing with cleaning solution...
So you have my admiration. Question for you - where did you find your project Charger? Do you mind sharing how much it cost?
I'm working on an article about the General Lee replica market, and it would be great to include any tips you have about finding a good project car.
Thanks!
The story with this 69 Charger..Hmmm never been asked that b4. Well I have ben a Mopar guy for many many moons. Since my mother gave me a 69 coronet in 1981. Thats a whole different story lol, anyway I was hooked on mopars from that day on. I have had about 30 mopars in my lifetime.
This Charger, being in the hobby I have seen prices go crazy whether it was Barrett Jackson or E-bay or whatever. Gone are the days of 200.00 to 600.00 Chargers and yes they were plentiful enough that I pased on a few, oh to go back!
I heard a friend of mine in the hobby say "Get the car (mopar) you want now because in the next 5 yrs you wont be able to fford the one you want". I heard it but didnt believe it. He was right but wrong. Wrong because it didnt happen in 5 yrs but right because it happened in 10 & man did it happen.
So when I heard him say that I already had my 69 coronet & a 70 R/T charger & a 68 Charger. I didnt need another one but when someone came & said theres a Charger in a town nearby that just popped up out of a garage I had to go see it & whe n i asked if he'd sell he said yes & the price was 1500.00. This was 1999 or 98 and I got it home & parked it til I started this project Lee last Year.

The areas not coated with Por-15 will soon be after the welding is done. Needs to be a clean surface for that. I will also be coating the outside & inside trunk floor & the trunk extensions & the outside frame rails.

LOL I will keep postin its fun for me to do the work & snap the shot & then look back on the pix witha cold one & think of all the other things I have to do to the car.
ok the floor....actually the cars floor is great except for the drivers foot area. That area has a new piece of floor pur chased & ready to go in, in that area.
As for the framerails, they are mostly surface rust which in NJ is common. There is NO structrual damage or concerns there.
I have also this past weekend Por-15'ed all the areas I coukld until we put i n the trunk floors 7 the drivers floor metal. This stuff is awesome. Cleans it up & is a excellent rust inhibitor.
Here are some shots of what I talked about above,
Floor b4
Floor after Por-15--->Note the drivers area that will be replaced:
Heres a better shot of that area soon to b replaced:

There ya go Roger, I mean the one I was doing ended up with sponsors, t-shirts, live music, and a DJ, food vendors, parts vendors, door prizes, 50/50 burn-outs, and a cruise afterwards to crash another clubs annual show.

I say try & start it yourself if theres not a show in "your" area that you like, then make the show. TX you mention looking to see if there was anyone in your area looking for Dukes gatherings, maybe there are others out there just like you that are trying to find stuff.
Can you start a webpage or post on sites an say that you want Dukes fans to gather somewhere for a non-formal get together.
It is really cool to see something born out of it after a little while.
Myself I started a Mopar show here in NJ & it got to over 300+ Mopars in a few yrs.
Just a thought I sure don't mean to preach by any means....I was thinking/typing out loud is all. Oh by the way that Charger event that someone mentioned above is the TDC & Wes & Jerry help Wayne Wooten run that TX show & they get over 100 Chargers there! There is always at least one General each yr.

Thanks Maryanne.
I have also collected besides the pushbar (small GA) & the rebop rims,
I got a decal kit but then bought a stencil kit thinking I am going to paint instead of decals.
I bought a new headliner
I bought all new emblems
I got new door handles
Got a new front bumper re-chromed
I had my check moldings rechromed as well as my tail light surround bezels!
I also had the chrome rechromed that seperates the orange from the black on the rear of the car (they sometimes all'em the eyebrows)
I got a NICE dash pad (original & factory tan) no cracks
so I have been stocking up on stuff all along!
