  1. $650,000!!! Wow, I missed that part. Good grief, I can't imagine...

I think Chrissy Wallace crashed out in the first few laps. I know, wasn't a good race for her. But come on, give her a little attention. At least acknowledge her. I read some of the comments from the other drivers and I think they were a little taken aback about the whole "Danica" phenom too. But I heard on the radio yesterday that it did increase the tv ratings for the nationwide race. I can't remember by how much though. I think they said the cup race ratings were down. They attributed that to the red flag stops for the pothole.

  2. 55 for Daytona huh? That's a pretty good deal. I'm probably the only person you'll ever hear say this, but I really don't know if I would want to go to Daytona. There are other tracks I think I'd like to go to first. Don't tell anyone I said that though. lol :escape:

  3. Ah, so the lady singing was a joke. I've got it now. Well, they are right, it's definitely not over yet. lol

So do you know why Kyle Busch got rid of his crew chief? I hope it wasn't because he hasn't been winning every race. You can't win them all, all the time. That just seems crazy to me, getting rid of your crew chief with only three races left. Can that really help? Of course I don't know the whole story, maybe there was friction going on or something. Who knows. I guess I need to do some reading at Nascar.com and see if I can find out.

  4. Alright, so here is the last post I have for now. It's your turn to read a novel when you log back on. lol Thanks for all of your messages though, I do love hearing your opinion on it all.

Okay, don't get mad at me, but I am one of those people that don't really care for Jimmie Johnson. But remember I didn't care for Gordon in the past, but he has grown on me quite a bit. I used to not be able to stand JJ, but now I reserve that feeling for Kyle Busch. So JJ has risen in my estimation. He is very talented, I just don't... I don't even know how to explain it. Anyway, I will probably still root against him, unless it comes to him and Kyle Busch. But that doesn't mean anything. He's got a long career ahead of him and he is definitely a great driver. You're not mad right? Right?

  5. And then there was Stewart and Montoya. Wow, they really let each other have it. I guess Montoya started it by shoving at Tony. Then Tony shoved back and cut Montoya's tire down with his splitter. I'm not sure if that was done on purpose or not. I hope not, but I really don't know. So Montoya goes to the garage to fix the damage and when he comes out he intentionally rams Stewart from behind. Screwed up both of their cars. Nascar finally made a call and black flagged Montoya for two laps. Montoya is really aggressive still. Do you think he is used to getting his way in everything he does or what? I either heard or read a comment that Montoya finally shoved up against somebody that will not take that kind of stuff and will shove back, likely harder. I think that's true with Tony. He can be pretty aggressive too, he's just cooled it in recent years, especially this year. Maybe ownership has leveled his head a bit.

  6. And what do you think about all of these Danica Patrick rumors flying around? I'm not sure what I think about it. I think it could be good for the sport, but I'm not sure how she would do. Did you see the article with the picture of her in a jumpsuit that had a Nascar logo, Chevy logo, and what could possibly be a JR Motorsports logo. Not sure what's happening, but I'm sure we will find out by February. lol

  7. And what was up with DW screaming for his Junebug to go there at the end. I mean I'm sure all of the announcers have their favorites too, but shouldn't they show a little impartiality? Don't get me wrong, I love Fox's announcers, but that just struck me as a little off, ya know?

And then the commercials, I just need to state for the record here that I LOVED seeing Kyle Busch in pink and kitties. I want to see him race in that getup!!! lol He would never hear the end of it. I've got to think of an idea to dress him up and go to that web site. lol Maybe cows instead of kitties? Or ferrets? hmmmm... I need to think about this one. lol Okay, I'm going to stop now... lol

As far as Carl's baby, have not heard anything yet. I know the official due date is today. So, anytime now. lol Sadler's wife had her baby on Monday I think it was.

  8. Are you looking forward to Fontana? I am really not. That is one track that I don't care for much. It just seems boring to me. But maybe it will be different this time with the chase being so exciting after this last weekend. Hopefully we will see some racing and no warning about aggressively racing chasers. Let them race officials, that's what they are all there to do. And that's what the fans at the track pay to see. And that's why we sit in front of our tv's each weekend. If they don't let them race, they are going to lose a lot of fans. Just my opinion.

  9. Are you ready for the second to last race?... Me neither. lol It is coming to an end way to soon! I've got some hope left, not high hopes, but some hope that Martin or Gordon pull off an awesome 1st place finish and maybe (and this is horrible of me) Johnson runs into a little bit of bad luck. I'm not going to hold my breath though. Johnson's whole team is just too good. I'll be in front of the tv though ready to see what's going to go down.

  10. As far as the points system goes, I googled them and printed out the list on what place wins how many points. I'd never done that before, but it was pretty interesting to see. Now I know how they are getting their points when they say during the race that "Gordon just moved up to third in the Chase points." I was going to try to keep track during the race to see for myself, but I wasn't really concentrating that hard at that time. We got our bad news on about the fifth lap or so. Maybe this week I will try to keep track.

  11. As for Letarte, he made a decision that he thought would win Gordon the race. Sure people can say afterward that he made the wrong decision, but they weren't right there at the time. They might say they would have done different, but they usually say that after everything is done and over. I can be a crew chief like that. lol If Gordon is comfortable with him, then I don't understand what all the naysayers are about. I'm sure a four time champion can tell what he needs on top of the pit box. I hope that makes sense. I'm tired tonight so I don't know if I'm just rambling on and not making sense or not. Guess I'd better leave it there for tonight. lol

  12. As for your favor? No problem. I actually have my own scanner for just this purpose. I bought it when I figured out I would be going to a lot of races. I mean it's like somewhere between $50 to $75 to rent one for the race I think (don't quote me on that) and I paid $100 for my own. After just two races it paid for itself.

So anyway, no problem. I don't mind listening in to Gordon. I like to flip around a lot and find the interesting stuff, although I listen to Edwards and Jr the most I think. lol I'm pretty sure I've listened to Gordon before and I don't remember him cussing out Letarte. I do remember him being mad at another driver for a stupid mistake though. He said something, but I'm not even sure if he cussed then. But I will listen and report back. lol

I'm also going to try and get some more good pictures and stuff that I can post. Fingers crossed the Edwards wins!!!

  13. Brad seems to be doing well for just debuting in the Cup series this year. He has learned a lot and mixed with the talent he has I'm pretty sure we will see him up front in the future. And I'm also pretty sure he will be affliated in some way with Hendrick. If not racing for Hendrick directly, maybe with Stewart-Haas. Or maybe Jr will gain some control at DEI (if there is a DEI left) and bring him over there as there star racer. There are many possibilities and I'm excited to see how it will all come out.

  14. But.... I have been keeping up with the races at least. The last two races have been pretty exciting at the end. First with Denny Hamlin pitting, I never thought he would be able to come back for the win. But he showed me. lol

And then last week. Wow. Good for Ryan Newman. It wasn't quite how I thought it was going to end, but it was exciting! I like exciting finishes most of the time. lol

  15. Can you believe it, I had a whole novel written and then my computer decided to shut down for updates. I didn't catch it in time. Grrr. That makes me so mad. Anyway, here I go again.

I did get to see the race Saturday night after all. I decided not to go to the tractor pull, I just couldn't miss the race. It was too exciting and I just had to know who would be in the Chase. I'm glad Hamlin finally won on his home track. He has wanted to win there for so long and his dream finally came true. He was having fun with it too. I heard him say how much fun he was having racing your Jeff. Hopefully Jeff was having as much fun with them passing each other. I really think their cars were pretty evenly matched and if Jeff had not gotten knocked back several spots, it really would have been an exciting finish for them. Not that it wasn't an exciting finish by any means. I kept yelling for Vickers to GO GO GO!!! lol And he did. I know its bad of me to say, but I was happy Vickers beat Kyle out of that last spot in the Chase. And I have to say, I was slightly impressed with Kyle's after race interview. He didn't whine or complain at all. Maybe he is showing a little bit of maturity after all. I agree with you, he is a talented driver. He just needs to adjust his attitude. I've heard that Kurt Busch used to act the same way, but he has apparently matured. Maybe his brother is following in his footsteps? We can only hope. lol

I had a rough time though, besides yelling for Vickers I was very concerned with Carl's progress. He started losing a lot of points there for a while that I was getting worried he wouldn't make the Chase. He pulled back in the end though. I just hope the last few weeks aren't how the next ten races are going to go for him. No wins yet this year, but maybe he's trying Jimmie's stratagy. Lie low till the Chase, then come out with the gas pedal floored. lol I guess we will see.

I was happy with everyone who made the Chase this time. I think it should be a pretty good next ten races. Jeff had a good night too and I just knew you were loving it. I am really happy with Martin making it. I know Carl is my driver and I will always cheer for him to win, but I would like to see Martin win a Championship before he retires... again. lol He's been so close so many times that it is just sad he's never won. He's got a good head of steam built up too, with four wins under his belt and a lot of good finishes besides. Otherwise it should be good and exciting with Jeff and Jimmie, Carl and Mark, and Tony. I can't wait til the next race. It's kind of sad though. Now that the Chase is here I know that the season is winding down. What am I going to do on Sunday afternoons now? lol

I think I read the same article that you did about Kyle Busch. I don't agree with the author. I think the Chase will be just as exciting without him. And we all know that Kyle is still going to race to win each race. He won't let not being in the Championship stop him from trying to win each and every one. That's what Tony did a few years ago. He missed the Chase, but went on to win the most in the the last ten races. I guess we will see what he has to say about it all from week to week. Maybe he will gain some experience from the whole situation too. I also saw the article about Kurt Busch's crew chief. I didn't read the article, but that really has to be distracting for Kurt. Hopefully it doesn't interfere with the rest of his season.

I also read another article that was interesting to me. It said that Richard Petty Motorsports are merging with Yates I think it was. Apparently they are going with Ford since Dodge hasn't been able to offer them the support they have in the past with the economy the way it is. They made a point about how the whole thing is going to work with Yates already partnered with Roush Fenway's engine shop I think it is. They aren't sure how involved Roush is going to be with this merger. I don't think Roush will have much of a say though. But I dont' know. If I have something wrong here please correct me. But I guess they are going to have a four car team also. It didn't say who there drivers will be, so I don't know if the teams will bring in their current drivers or what. I'm going to assume so though. I thought maybe since Roush has to get rid of one of his team's to get down to four for next year, that the fifth driver might go to Yates. Probably Jamie Mac. I'm not sure now. I like Jamie Mac too. He's another Missouri boy. They don't have everything worked out yet, so I guess we will hear about it as they figure things out.

I read something funny today from my new Nascar Illustrated magazine. How bad I'm I addicted to actually get a magazine. lol Anyway it was a really small blurb that made me laugh out loud. It said that Joey Logano asked Mark Martin what his secret to qualifying was since he had gotten so many poles. Here's what it said, "I went up to him and said 'Man, what the heck did you do? after he made his run. Martin said, "I just tried to scare myself every corner." Martin also made a comment about Jimmie Johnson that I thought was pretty cool. "Mark Martin on his 'super' teammate Jimmie Johnson. 'His cape doesn't get tangled around his neck much." That comment was made after Jimmie won the Brickyard again. Pretty neat I thought.

I haven't heard of any of the authors you like, but I will have to try to find some of their books when I get some extra cash... whenever that may be. lol I've read some John Grisham lawyer/mysteries, are they anything like his? The ones I read were pretty good.

Cousin Carl, I love that. I didn't know why he was called that either for a while until I looked it up. I guess Carl is Kenny Schrader's cousin and Kenny made a comment on a broadcast about Cousin Carl. I guess the commentors liked it because it stuck. There was also something about Carl being Larry McReynolds' cousin too, but I'm not sure about that. I knew he was Kenny's cousin, but I had never heard about McReynolds. So it may or may not be true, I don't know for sure.

Anyway, it's past my bedtime now so I'd better be going to bed or I won't want to get up for work tomorrow. I'm still upset I lost my first post. It was a lot longer than this one I think. lol Oh well. Have a great day tomorrow!

  16. Did I like the Dukes movies? They were okay, as long as I didn't look at them as Dukes. It wasn't Dukes. I didn't even think Burt Reynolds did that good of a job as Boss Hogg. But that is my opinion. So, yeah, the movies were okay as long as they weren't considered Dukes. Maybe I'll just start calling them the McCoy's of Chickasaw or something. lol

  17. Did you hear who the five inaugural people are for the Hall of Fame? They chose Earnhardt (which I really think was a given since he was and is so popular), Richard Petty, Junior Johnson, and Bill France Sr and Jr. I would have liked to see Red Byron make it in this time since he one the first Nascar Championship (I'm pretty sure.) Oh well, I voted online so I guess my voice was heard just not heeded. lol That happens a lot. lol

  18. Did you read about Nascar making the restrictor (I don't know if I spelled that right?) plates smaller for Talladega? They say it's for safety, to make the cars slower with less horsepower. Between this and the fact they are putting up taller fences around the track, I think Carl's flight scared the crap out of them this spring. But why are they waiting this close to make the announcement? Probably so they don't have to listen to people complain as long. Talladega has always been about the "big one". If they do a whole lot more to tame this track, I feel they are going to lose some fans who make the trek to 'Dega every spring and fall. Safety is very important and all, but they've got to be able to race too. Just my opinion. What do you think about this?

  19. Did you watch the after race interviews? I was finishing up my laundry so I missed the explanation, but I heard them playing some sort of opera music in the background during someone's interview. My mom said it was a joke about it not being over until the fat lady sings or something. Do you know anything about that? I'm just curious about what I missed.

  20. Did you watch the Nationwide race this past weekend? Apparently they ran a commercial for Charlotte. They are offering Coca Cola 600 tickets for 50% off. My cousin called and found out that puts them at $29.50. That is an awesome price. We were throwing around maybe trying to go, but I'm sure it's probably not a good idea for me with the job deal going on. But that's a hard deal to pass up. lol

  21. Do you watch CMT any at all? I know you like country music, but some people don't like that channel. Anyway, I was watching Toby Keith's Broken Bridges movie on CMT last night and saw a preview for CMT Cribs. Unless my eyes were deceiving me, it looks like John Schneider is going to be on that show. I need to look it up to make sure, but I haven't taken the time yet. Do you know anything about it? I know they have shown quite a few Nascar drivers in the past too. It would be cool to see Bo Duke's house. lol

  22. Don't be jealous, you are more than welcome to come over! lol How long do you think it will take you to get to central Missouri? lol I'll save a spot for you on the couch. I think it will be fun. But you probably wouldn't like it a whole lot. There won't be any JJ fans there, so you'll here everyone cheering for Martin. Well, my young cousin will be cheering for Gordon. So you'll have a pal there. lol Any way, I will think of you and even have a toast, "Here's to Garrett Duke!" :rootbeer: with my rootbeer.

  23. Edwards came in 6th I believe, just outside the top five. Not a bad place, but not the best either. A top five would be great, but there is always next year right? big sigh. lol

I don't hate Gordon. lol He's not my favorite, even if cousin Wyatt and you are trying to change my perspective on this. lol But a lot of people do love to hate him. But now Johnson has the target on his back as well as Kyle Busch. Johnson because he wins a lot, Busch because he wins and he acts the way he does. Gordon is now considered one of the old timers I think. Especially by these young whipper-snappers that are coming in. All that means is he has the experience and knows the tracks like the back of his hand. He knows what to expect at each track pretty much. Weather conditions make be different, but that's about it unless they repave or something like that. So maybe it's a good thing to be an old timer. Just my opinion.

  24. Finally, I made it back... lol I've been trying to respond to your messages for a few days now, but for some reason I couldn't get on profile pages. I could view the Forums without any problems. Isn't that crazy?

When I saw Joey Logano slide back up the track in his wreck I had DejaVu. It slightly reminded me of Carl's wreck at Talladega this spring. Thankfully he didn't hit the fence airborne, but those rolls couldn't be fun either. I heard the announcers say he flipped 7 times, yikes. My cousin told me the announcers were wrong though. He said he counted each time the car landed on its roof and it was more like 20 something. I have no idea, I thought about rewatching it just to see who was right but never got around to it yet. Still I was holding my breath waiting for Joey to exit the car. That was nerve racking. And then seeing his dad run like that. Scary. I'm so glad he's okay though. Thank goodness for safety precautions.

  25. Gordon had a good race this weekend. He really rallied and did well. I was all excited at the beginning of the race because Jr was second. And he did great until that lugnut being left off. The was the beginning of the end for him. Poor guy. It just seems from week to week that he can't catch a break. I do agree with you though. Things have been getting better since he got a new crew chief. I'm hoping maybe next year will be his year so all of the naysayers that say he doesn't have any talent at all and only got into Nascar on his name will be quiet. I was surprised with Johnson too. I know he finished in the top ten, but it was just shocking to see him struggle so much with his car. That is not normal for that team. I was happy with Tony's win. It's great to see how well he's doing.
