  1. I don't think that people are as educated about the flag as we like to think...look at what happened in Georgia just a few years ago. Where I live now there are a lot of Confederate flags around...flying alongside the American flag in a lot of cases, but I where I used to live, you hardly ever saw one. I think that more people need to be educated that today the Confederate flag stands for Southern pride and heritage, rather than hate and bigotry. In fact there is a Confederate flag that I drive by several times a week, that says on it "Heritage Not Hate". I wish more people would have that attitude. LS3
  2. That could be why there was so much debate about the flag - forget the "it might bother some people" - they were probably looking pretty hard at that marketing deal with Chrysler. JMO. LS3
  3. Dale, It's possible that the percentage is so low because they surveyed some "transplants" who wouldn't feel as strongly about the flag. LS3
  4. BoDuke'sGirl, You're right, Luke's brother shows up in "Brotherly Love", first, last and only time he is seen or mentioned on the show. Another one of those "disappearing" family members... LS3
  5. Dale, Your tongue-in-cheek translation was hilarious - sounded just like what I heard! Thanks for the laugh. LS3 P.S. Thank you for the actual Lyrics, dukesran1
  6. If you read the movie ticket - it's only good at select theatre chains (and a few independent theatres) and I think it's only good in the US. LS3
  7. In the series it was never mentioned that Bo had any siblings. Most fans take this to mean that he didn't. Shoot, Luke's brother only shows up in one episode and was never heard from or mentioned again. LS3
  8. I'm sorry you ran into this. I would think that it would depend on what state you live in and if you have complied with all other requirements for vehicle registration. For instance, if your confederate plate is on the front, do you have the regular plate mounted above it, if your state requires front plates? I would try to find an online page for your Department of Transportation where you may be able to find out if you're not allowed to have any extra plate mounted with your regular license plates. If there is nothing prohibiting the display of an extra plate, then I would say that it was the rebel flag that caused the "concern" of the officer, and that wouldn't be right. Anyway - good luck and I hope it all works out for you.
  9. More than likely, yes! Either that or she couldn't get the coordination down.... LS3
  10. If "Legend of Ruby Silver" is about a mining operation it's not a bad movie, I think I saw it a long time ago, but, it is very much anti-Bo Duke. John is not a nice guy in this one (if it's the one I am thinking of), but still a good movie - and it does show his acting ability. LS3
  11. I was checking out Dierks Bentley's website and I found this, thought it was cool and I had to share it... "Perhaps the first stirrings that something really cool might be up came in the form of Waylon Jennings singing the theme from The Dukes of Hazzard..." The bio goes on to say that he played rock for a while, but was frustrated with it. LS3
  12. I think I heard Boss call him Alex - but I'm not sure. I'm not 100% sure that the driver ever even had a line. Unfortunately he was one of those characters that was pretty much set dressing (in other words only there in the first couple of seasons to show how rich Boss was). I think that he was no longer on the show after the second season. LS3
  13. I saw a reference to that in the commercials for the show, but haven't been able to catch the show. Have they given any more information about him? LS3
  14. I haven't heard "Cab of My Truck", but I love Dierks Bentley and I really like "Lot of leavin' left to do". Of course I really started liking him with his first single release "What was I Thinkin'". I love how there are specific references to DOH in a few country songs recently - and this was before anything happened with the movie (another one is Mark Wills' "1980 Something" (I think that's the title). LS3
  15. According to www.imdb.com the driver was played by Dan Fitzgerald. LS3
  16. Hazzardnet is an equal opportunity site, after all. =) LS3
  17. The longest jump was over the river, it was used in several episodes throught the seasons and the first reunion movie. I believe it was first seen in "Double Sting". I'm not sure how long it was, but I believe it was a world record (someone please correct me if I'm wrong!). LS3
  18. I just made a "psuedo" General Lee, it's just not right without the Rebel Flag...but I don't want to get started on that! LS3
  19. Find a bar in walking distance to the theater and get there early! =) Actually, from various interviews and articles I've read, it sounds like most of the actual stunts were done by people, CGI was just used to "enhance" some of the more spectacular stunts. I'm with Brian on the alternate reality. I will not be watching this as a "true" Dukes of Hazzard movie...but I can't resist going to see it to see the General in action. I'm not comfortable with the things I've seen in the trailer, or with the characterizations I've seen, and as a true Dukes fan it gets me angry that they taken things so far from what they were, but then again, this is all based on a two minute trailer, until I see the actual movie, I won't know for sure. LS3
  20. I dont' know where you got your scheduling information, jhm, or what time you're trying to watch the Dukes, but here is the link to the Dukes schedule on CMT for the next month, and it is on Monday through Friday at 7pm Eastern. http://www.cmt.com/shows/schedule/series_sched.jhtml?seriesID=14528 Furthermore, I too know a little about how TV works, having actually done my formal training in television and worked in the industry. Networks air the shows that bring them audiences, and as far as I can tell the Dukes brings in an audience. You yourself admitted to hating country music, but you watch Dukes on CMT - therefore, CMT has gotten you (and probably several hundred/thousand other "fans") to watch a channel you normally wouldn't. (Notice that the Dukes is the only regularly scheduled non-country music based show on their schedule). The Dukes still has a huge audience, which is saying something since with the advent of cable and satellite TV there is much more competition for viewers now than when it was first on. (I actually remember the days of only getting 4 or 5 network channels to watch). As for the complaints and debate about the new movie - it's fun to hear everyone's view, even if you don't necessarily agree. LS3
  21. Julie, If you have the receipt you may be able to return the discs to the store for an exchange or refund. If the store won't make good on it, you can either write or call the customer service department for the company that produced KR and see if they'll replace it for free. I know what those sets cost (I've been debating buying KR for a while now) and it's no joke to have to buy another one. If you don't have your receipt, probably going right to customer service for the DVD company (info should be on the box somewhere) would be your best bet. LS3
  22. The photos are hilarious, even if they are a little unfair....to the poor sheep! ROFL! LostSheep3
  23. I don't necessarily think that CMT is going to cancel the original show that's airing now if the movie does well. Not based on the attendence at DukesFest this year, I think CMT knows that it has a good thing going on. As for Hollywood trying to make a "new" Dukes, yes, that is always a possibility, and it's always been a possibility. Certainly they may take a look at it if the movie does well...but I don't think that boycotting the movie is going to make a difference to the executives. A lot of people on this board have already said that they are not targeting their marketing to "fans" of the original, but to a new audience. Plus, I'm sure that CMT will also be watching how the movie does at the box office and a boycott may jeopardize the run of the show as it is. If anyone personally wants to boycott the movie, that is certainly their choice, but I personally don't think that a large-scale boycott is going to make a huge difference in the scheme of things. LS3
  24. I loved that scene in Smallville where Jonathan Kent was listening to "Good Ol' Boys" it cracked me up. I have seen flashes of "Bo" in other episodes as well. I wasn't aware of the other work that John Schneider has done with references to Bo Duke, but I think it's great that he apparently embraces his time on Dukes of Hazzard. LS3
