BradB
Hi All,I bought seasons 1 and 2 on DVD.While watching Season 1 and Daisy's Song, Daisy is talking to the sleazy record executive about how her voice sounds like two country singers. The second singer's name that is spoken comes out as "Loretta Lynn", but the characters lips when speaking don't seem to indicate the words "Loretta Lynn".Does someone know what happened? Did the Dukes have to change the name as the original person did not want their name mentiioned? Thanks,
DukesFan
A good question, and one I've had for years! I do know that it wasn't just voiced over for the DVD, it is part of the original episode as it aired back then.Who can help?
JESSI DUKE
If i remember correctly the name of the singer that was going to be said by Daisy got change, because Dukes never got permission to use the name. So they had Catherine go back and say Loretta Lynn after they had already did the scene. 8)
MaryAnne
I'd be willing to bet five bucks that it was supposed to be Dolly Parton, but like JESSI DUKE said, they probably didn't have the go ahead to use the name. LOL
BradB
Hi,Thanks for the responses. I thought it might be Dolly Parton as well, since I believe in the 1st episode they talk about Daisy idolizing/wanting to be Dolly Parton.I thought they mention Dolly's name in other episodes, but perhaps they cracked down on it after the first show. Thanks~! Eddiemunster
OMG! If I was able to charge a buck for everytime someone said my name, I wouldn't be going to work! "NO! You DO NOT have permission to say my name!!!" Give me a break.
BradB
I agree with you about whomever it was/is flipping out over it.I like how before stars hit it big, they are humble. Then once some of them cash in they turn into pampered and entitled people who have no use for certain things. More or less I made my millions now leave me the heck alone. But say It was Dolly and say she was on the cusp of hitting it big, wouldn't she have wanted the attention or mention of her name on a TV show to help draw interest/intrigue?? Just goes to how that $$ does change certain people.
DaneyDuke
But say It was Dolly and say she was on the cusp of hitting it big, wouldn't she have wanted the attention or mention of her name on a TV show to help draw interest/intrigue?? Just goes to how that $$ does change certain people.Maybe the artist (Dolly or whoever the name was suppose to be) liked the idea but her manager, record label etc didn't. Or maybe the singer never got the message about such an offer, and it was decided by who ever recieved the communication. With it being a brand new show where anything was possible, someone in charge might not wanted to have taken a chance to be associated with a product that wasn't going to be around long. Mrs. Luke Duke
It could have very well been Dolly Parton Daisy said, but I'm also thinking that it might have been Barbara Mandrell or Crystal Gayle, since they were both popular at the time 'Dukes' was on.
