Tempest66
Well I'm another newbie to join y'all! I came about this site rather by accident and I'm sure glad I did. I was originally trying to find out why my two 1981 General Lee Ertl 1/64 cars where different (made in different countries, molded different, different 01 stickers, and they are not the 1997 release they are original 81s), but stumbled onto you folks!I have this question that has been buggin me like the devil! I'd like to sorry ahead of time if this has already been discussed but here it goes......I got my DVD Season 1 and have watched it about 10 Million or so times , but I was sure was surprised to see that just about everyone still alive was at the 20th Anniversary Hazzard County Barbecue except Tom Wopat??!!! When the cast chatted bout the good ol days no one even mentioned anything involving him or him for that matter. I'm probably the last to know, but what happened??? I hope there's no "bad blood."Glad to meet ya!
Chet Duke
Thats a good question! One that I for one dont have an answer to, sorry. But your right why wasnt Tom there? He was as much part of it all as the rest. How the hell did you get that picture pasted into the post you made? I have been on Hazzardnet a long time, i been writing here for years and I have never seen a picture posted like that. However you did it, cool. However you did it, cool.Hi Chet!I'd be more than happy to share my secret with ya!! First I go to this site:http://www.imageshack.us/index.phpThis is the ImageShack site which is a free internet service like some of the site services like Tripod, Anglefire, etc. You will see a box in the middle of the screen with a "Browse" button. When you click the Browse button you can pick a picture from your files/photos. Make sure they are jpeg, jpg, png, gif, or swf. If they aren't, just open up your "Paint" program, go to "File", pick your picture, go back to "File", go to "Save As," and underneath where you pick file name you'll see "Save as Type," and use the drop down box to pick "JPEG".After you get you pick your picture using the "Browse" botton on the ImageShack site just click on "Host It" and you will get several different links to use for your picture. Just copy and paste the first URL which is listed as "Hotlink your image on forums and message boards" on your message in the Hazzard Forum. It will look like something like this: but without the space after the I was on a car site and that was how we shared pictures of our cars with each other. http://img11.exs.cx/img11/2503/GeneralLee.jpg' alt='GeneralLee.jpg'>

MaryAnne
Beautiful car, Tempest! =) Welcome to HNet!Ya know, the question of where the heck Tom was for the BBQ seems to be a closely guarded military secret. I'm guessing his schedule conflicted (isn't he doing Chicago right now?) so he probably couldn't get to the thing.....but you'd think there'd be some mention of him. Stormy Stormrider
I too have my car posted in my posts but by the welcome I received (just 1) I gather you don't want Brits joining in !?
MaryAnne
As an administrator of this board I try very hard to say howdy to all the new folks who join up, but somtimes I miss some folks. Doesn't mean you're not welcome. Please don't think that way!I for one definetly want Brits, Canadians and anybody else from any other country that's a Dukes fan to join in! So, my apologies for missing the chance before. Welcome to Hnet! Now....your Ford Cortina. That's a very kewl looking car and those have got to be the biggest damn exhaust pipes I've ever seen! Looking at your site here, stays straight back... I bet you make some good noise with that. =)..... I stand corrected. Just saw the pic of your Volvo sedan with the 5 inch pipe. LOLLooking at more pics here, your favorite cars..... TRANS AM!! 'Nuff said. =)
Tempest66
I too have my car posted in my posts but by the welcome I received (just 1) I gather you don't want Brits joining in !?Hey Stormy!!Welcome from one "Newbie" to another!!! We've gotta stick together ya know ! AWESOME car!!!! I'd really like to know what kind of cars are popular over there in good ol' Britian? Personally, I'm a Pontiac nut. Are the 60's Pontiac GTO, Tempest, or Lemans popular at all? I think it's really cool to meet someone from overseas to hear their point of views and see what things are like somewhere else! Sadly I've only been to Canada, but I have a secret desire to go to Ireland....opps...guess it's no secret anymore... :lol
Capt_Redneck
Welcome Stormy Stormrider and Tempest66 to Hazzard(net)....I am sorry I missed this thread.....Stormy.. I have kind of the same question as Tempest about cars in the UK..After seeing a picture from another thread showing a VW painted as the General Lee , I then pictured a MINI Cooper as one....Are MINI's really popular over there still? I like that car , actually the new MINI...any chance you are a soccer fan???Tempest66 Nice car.I still am partial to the 77-78 Trans Am SE , have been since I saw Smokey & The Bandit when I was a kid....That is my dream car...Hope both of you have fun here, it is a GREAT place to visit.Darrell
Stormy Stormrider
I am sorry if I upset you lot too. I have been on a few forums before from the states and got a cold response because I was British and they seemed to think I didn't have a clue about these type of things in the USA. I just thought I had come across another.Thank you though. I am a HUGE dukes fan and there aren't that many of us sadly.Sadly My website is very out of date. Since that Volvo I have had a 1999 Volvo S70 Saloon (Sedan) 2.5 Turbo. I now have a Mitsubishi Pajero 4x4 Exceed (Japanese Import) 2.5 Turbo Deisel Intercooler. That is going next year so I can get a 4 door R34 Nissan Skyline GTST.Over here cars these days are very boring. I have had 30 cars in my 13 years of driving and I like the unusual and something that stands out. The average wagon here is what they call a Ford Mondeo or a Vaxhaull Vectra. Mid size cars average engine size is 1.8i litre or 2i litres. Small cars are everywhere, usually 1i litre 1.1i litre and 1.4i litre.Ford Mondeo (Ford Taunus equivelant)Vauxhall 'Yawn' Vectra 'Snore' ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzNew Ford FiestaHere is the race version..If I won the Lottery, my garages would be full with 1969 Dodge Charger (General Lee)1972 Mustang Mach 1 302 BOSS (original Gone in 60 seconds)1978 Pontiac TransAm (Bandit)1967 Pontiac GTO (XXX)1962 ish Lincoln Continental 4 door (suicide doors) Bling Bling !1981 Lambourghini Countach Quatrovalvole1980 Lamborghini Jalpa1981 De Tomaso Pantera1998 Overfinch Range Rover (Family Wagon)1981 Aston Martin V8 Vantage1996 Mitsibishi Lancer Evo 61999 R34 Modified Nissan Skyline GTR1998 R33 Modified Nissan Skyline GTR 1998 Ducati 996and of course my Cortina which I am about to spray Metalic Purple.Modern cars bore me ! I love 70's and 80's Muscle and performance cars with the odd exception.I used to like Soccer and supported Liverpool FC. These days it's all about money.I also used to love American Football being a big Denver Bronco's fan. Now (apart from my family) I just love Cars and Bikes, and the Dukes of course. I play Car games with my children on the Xbox, PS2 & PC too. This is my engine in My Cortina at the moment..
MaryAnne
ROFL. You sound like me talking about the modern cars here in the US. BOOOORRRRRRING!!!!! LOL.There's a trend tho' for American car makers to make the cars more foriegn looking....which means they might still end up boring looking. An example, and I'm sure Tempest66 can jump in on this one being a Pontiac fanatic (as I am too), Pontiac is dropping the Grand Am model next year for a car called the G6. It looks like an Audi! And Pontiac brought back the GTO name plate but they slapped it on an Australian built platform that (in my opinion) is too boring looking of a car to be wearing the GTO name plate. Granted the thing runs like hell, has the V8, true duals (varoom varroom!) but....man, what a boring car to look at. Hopefully for '05 they'll tweak the design and give it a more aggressive look. I have to tell this, just because I'm nuts and I figure most folks here would dig this line of thought (and it does tie into the above). Along with the Dukes of Hazzard I also dig Starsky and Hutch and I got to thinking the other day.... S&H used a two-door Ford Gran Torino of the day and all they did was do a different paint job, jack up the back suspension and put different rims with oversized tires on the car. Made it look hot. (Although, according to Paul Michael Glaser the thing was crap to drive. ROFL)Anyway! I was thinking, if somebody were to make a tv show today, not necessarily an S&H type show but something that were to feature a current car of the day and do the minimum alterations like they did with the Torino, which car would be a good car to do that with? The best answer I could come up with was a Chevy Monte Carlo SS. I looked at various different cars, Dodge/Chrysler, Ford, Pontiac, ect. but the more I looked at the cars, the more complicated the changes to the cars became in my mind. I mean I was wanting to change the bumpers and front ends and make actual physical changes to the body itself! So after all that it only further reinforced my thought that modern cars are somewhat boring to look at. That was quite the babble huh? LOL. Sometimes I get a roll and I can't stop. =)

I want to get all the seasons of Dukes on DVD, region 1 or 2. But I'm saving money as I'm upgrading my Cortina Wheels from 13 inch, now getting rid of the 16 inch for some 18 inch and respraying it Metalic Purple.I would love to go to a Hazzard Meet but it's a bit far to drive. I just wish people were as mad about Dukes over here as you are over there.I've been trying to download the Happy Birthday General Lee episode just so I can see how they came about the General but I'm not having much luck. I couldn't agree with ya more MaryAnne!!! It does run like hell, but did they have to make it look like hell too??? I was so excited to hear that Pontiac was bring back the GTO, but when I saw the finished product---I wish they never tried. The GTO name plate puts a certain image in mind and Pontiac didn't live up to it (well they did with the "varoom varroom" part....LOL )One thing ya must know about me....I love the classic muscle cars and I just can't get into the new cars of today no matter how hard I try, so I don't mean to offend any "new" car lovers out there.P.S. Thanks for answering my question, Stormy!! And for posting the pictures. If I ever win the Lottery, I'll send ya a 1967 GTO!! You know the other day I heard a report on TV saying how so many classic cars where being stolen and shipped overseas for a premium price. I didn't realize it was so hard to access these cars over there!! They said the biggest country that they were being shipped to was Japan!!! Stormy Stormrider
Classic Yank is soo hard to get here for a decent price. For a good car, we have to pay around £8,000 to £12,000 (average 15 - 20,000 US dollars). For me to get a '69 Charger or '71 Muzzy to restore, I need to pay around 5 - 6,000 GBP (£10,000 USD) It is a Nightmare ! Especially with having a Mortgage, children, daily cars and then the toys!
Capt_Redneck
Stormy It is a nightmare here in the good ol' USA to have a toy like that. Well for me anyway. Mortgage , kids, then kids priorties come first before mine...It would be nice though to have something like that...Just maybe, someday I am hoping......Darrell
