  1. *sighs as he walked, his anger soon dissapating to sadness. What a birthday...what had started out to be a pretty good day had suddenly turned very sour and all because Luke had a problem with him doing something he didn't want Luke to know about. It wasn't like it was anything against the law, wasn't hurting anyone, just something personal he would rather was kept personal.*
  2. Jesse sighed and stood up, moving away from Luke and crossing to Lavinia, kissing her on the cheek. "I don't know if this little thing's gonna make it Lavinia...Luke's already so attatched..."
  3. *had walked away from the Boar's Nest down the road. That morning in the barn, all he had wanted was to spend just a few minutes away from everyone else to spend some quiet time before he spent the whole day with people. But no, Luke had even intruded on that and now was expected to talk about it. While it was true Bo told a lot of things to Luke, he didn't have to tell Luke everything and was angry and insulted that Luke was acting this way about it.*
  4. Jesse soon had finished cleaning the cut, wrapping the rag around it so the shine would stay cleaning it.
  5. Jesse soon returned, softly unwrapping the handkerchief from the fawn's leg and started washing the cut gently which made the fawn bleat feebly in pain.
  6. "I don't know son...like I said...he might still pass on...you gotta be prepaired fer that when ya take on an injured animal Luke..." Jesse said softly, standing up to get a bowl of hot water, mixing shine in with it and finding a rag.
  7. Jesse carefully put the fawn in the blankets that Luke had laid out, shaking his head a little. "Luke listen, you gotta be quiet son or yer gonna frighten it...Lavinia would ya call the vet please..."
  8. lol *bows* thank you thank you
  9. Jesse soon came through the door, having wrapped the fawn's leg with his handkerchief.
  10. Jesse sighed and nodded a little, bending down to pick the weak little animal up. "Alright son, you run ahead and get me some blankets...tell yer auntie that we need some formula made up too.."
  11. Jesse bit his lip as he looked over the little thing. It was freezing, its mother had to be either dead or had abandoned it, and it looked like it had hurt a lot of blood already. Either way, the chances looked bleak that it would survive much longer, with or without help. "Son...we can try and help it...but...you have t'be aware that it might not survive anyway..."
  12. Jesse sighed and took Luke's hand, following him outside.
  13. Jesse looked up from where he was chopping vegetables as Luke came running in, out of breath and looking a little upset. "What's the matter son?"
  14. "The fa...oooh the fawn...oh that was sweet..." Daisy crooned softly, remembering the little thing.
  15. "Did he ever have a time when he was that innocent?" Daisy asked softly.
  16. "Aww...that was so sweet when he showed me...he doted over that thing..." She said with a smile, looking to Bo as she did before asking eagerly. "What about Luke?"
  17. **END FLASHBACK** "I remember that now! He took such good care of it! That chicken would follow him around like a dog follows its master!" Daisy exclaimed softly, not disturbing the boys sleep.
  18. Bo nodded with a smile and looked back down at the chick in his hand that was starting to settle into sleep peacefully, stroking its little head with his own tiny finger softly. For a toddler, Bo was exceptionally careful.
  19. Bo nodded eagerly, before asking her. "Will ya hewp me..."
  20. Bo smiled, not hearing Luke's giggle as he reached out a finger and softly stroked the little chick's head, holding it close tenderly to his body in order that the tiny thing would keep warm. He soon frowned though and looked up at Lavinia. "What d'I give her t'eat Auntie?"
  21. Bo grinned wider, looking up at his Aunt. "She knows me!"
  22. Bo leaned forward and carefully picked up the little thing in it towel to keep it warm, looking over it. "Hewwo..."
  23. Bo looked excitedly over to his egg again, all four Dukes in the room watching as eventually the little chick pecked its way through the shell and tumbled out of it into the soft hay and blankets, chirping away. Little Bo was bouncing with joy on the floor where he sat. "She's so liddle!"
  24. Bo grinned "Auntie its hatching!"
  25. Bo practically dragged Lavinia long with as much strength as he had, letting go at the door to the laundry room and scampering over to where he had hid his egg. Unwrapping it carefully, it was clear to see the many crack lines on the little thing as well as the slight shakes it gave every now and then...Bo's egg was hatching. Bo grinned up proudly at his Auntie and Uncle who was looking flabbergasted over Lavinia's shoulder. Luke had told him of Bo's escapde with the egg and had suggested that if they left him to his own devices, eventually he would get bored...none of them had really believed his egg would hatch.
