  1. Okay, okay....let's not all give up...we still have 9 days...okay 8 and a half - some of us write better under pressure ya know.

Now of course...should Brian win, I will become his loyal follower...but let's not give up the game quite yet...hmmm?

Even if Brian doesn't win...we all know that MaryAnne and Brian are a formidable duo...so whatever happens...I trust Hazzardnet will be in good hands.

But it might be better if it wasn't all in Brian's hands.

  2. I just finished watching the Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning. And I have to say, I wasn't all that excited about it to start with - it's not one of those things that I was thinking I had to watch, but...I did, and I'm glad!

It wasn't the Duke's as I knew them and loved them - as I still love them - but that's okay. I wouldn't want it to be exactly like the original only with a different cast.

Yes, there were raunchy jokes, bad humor and I have to say it was borderline for what I would consider family. But as others have said, the cast did seem to come together better as "family" this time. They seemed to have a genuine chemistry - not as good as the original, but not as bad as the big screen movie.

I really enjoyed this movie. It made some nods to the original series (the blowing up of the portalets, the way that they got Boss to confess at the end), without taking an episode word for word and remaking it. It was also updated for 2007 in some ways - but they weren't glaring. And I was thrilled to see the reappearance of the CB use - the movie had them using cell phones exclusively - and I hated that.

Overall this was not a bad movie - not the original, but not bad. And I'm all for keeping the Dukes of Hazzard a "living" tv presence.

I will likely be buying this one.

  3. I know this is late - but I had a blast at DukesFest! It was great getting to see all of the cast together again. And I loved Cooter's Place - even though it was packed every time I went in. The museum was wonderful, it's amazing to think of the sheer number of Dukes-related items that have been made.

The best part of DukesFest was getting to see all my friends and meeting new people. I love to see that I'm not the only one who still loves the Dukes.

I definitely plan on going next year!

  4. My children are picky eaters and it just bugs the hell out of me, and really makes dinners boring. Why limit your self to the same boring foods, by being picky. I wish I could figure out how to make my kids more willing to try different foods.

I don't have kids, but maybe you could tell them that they have to give something two chances, if they decide after that that they really don't like it, you won't make them eat it again? (for new foods, not things like veggies that they need to eat!).

Pretty much the rule in my house when I was younger was that you had to give something a chance, you couldn't say you didn't like it without trying it, and that was the rule whether you were a kid or an adult...

  5. Just to Clarify for all us poor suckers...I mean judges....

During each "round" of play, each of the contestants must respond to everything posted by the other, as well as start one new topic of discussion.

This is not a contest for the total number of posts during the day, but a chase around the boards.

So for instance, if Brian starts a topic under "General Discussion" and answers one under "Episodes". MaryAnne must answer both of those, plus start one new topic of her own.

    Am I right?

  6. If we're going with the points system, how do we reward them? Who do we report them to? Or just put them after the various posts.

And I think that this thread is a safe-zone...posts don't count...

Also, do posts have to be DOH related or do they count in the other areas....
