March 2, 200521 yr My friends loved this movie and it shows a lot about the Southern culture. I do have a question though. At one point, the mother gets excited and says she's going to "put on the dog!" My friends and I could never figure out what this meant. Mind you, we're all from the Midwest and are not completely familiar with the Southern dialect.Also, is this phrase in any direct relation to what Cooter and Enos have both said before? "You done scared my dog!"

October 16, 200520 yr "put on the dog" means to....humm dont know how to word this...like put on a flashy diplay. Does that make any sense?i.e.----Im just makin' up names here but...Bob-I can't lift this box its too heavyBill-Well I dont wanna put on the dog but Im pretty strong I bet I could do it...
