"When Dreams Die"

Some of us, the dreamers...

Were born to dance upon the wind....

Dreams are a funny things, full of power and magic.

They can propel you to towering heights, and

drive you to persist thru adversity and exhaustion.

They can motivate you to blast thru obstacles, catapult hurdles

and ignore impossiblities. A razor beam focus on a dream is a

numbing drug, allowing you to bear the worst circumstances.

Ordinary people do extraordinary things when carried on the

wings of dreams. Conversely, extraordinary people barely leave

their mark if they have no dream to light their creative fire.

But what if , after planning, dreaming, looking forward to a

certain goal in your life, you arrive at the moment of realization

that you no longer hold that desire? What if you struggle to climb

the corporate ladder, only to discover, mid-rung, that the

corporate culture doesn't map with your own? What if you

envision all during your working life that you'll someday own a

home in the North Country, and then realize as you age that the

severe winters are no longer your cup or tea? That shiny brass

ring can look dull and tarnished by the time you're ready to pluck

it. Should you pluck it anway? Or is it ok to deny your dreams?

The death of a dream can be emotionally truamatizing unless It's

been replaced by another dream equally satisfying to your

psyche. Thats the secret- to be always vigilant about your

dreams- analyzing them, holding them up to the light of each

new day, considering your options.

I suspect some people go ahead with a dream that no longer suits

then because they're afraid they'll be viewed as fickle or scatter-

brained. Or they've held the dream for so long they feel they

must pursue it to its fullfillment. But why spend energy on a dead

dream? These people dont know what women and entrepreneurs

have always known... Its ok to change your mind!

Entrepreneurs dream of self-employment, but just what form that

takes can change with the weather. As Technology evolves, new

opportunities present themselves... entrepreneurs know how to

switch gears and ride the current wave.

Dream a living, breathing things; after all, they're part of us.

They're not cast in concrete any more then we are. And while

there are probaby thos whose dreams have remained constant

thru their lives, for many of us, our dreams evolve, change and

grow as we do.

Dennis Hopper, the actor, makes a telling point in his TV

Commercials for an investiment firm, stating, " Its not where your

dreams take you; its where YOU take your dreams!" Point:

dreams are noy in control of your life, but a reflection of your

heart's desires. And the heart, as we all know, can be a fickle

master. If you remain aweare, you wont be caught by surprise

when you finally decide to "go for it" - your dreams will be

current, vibrant, exciting, and worth going for. Dream on!
