Chat Application (Java) and Proxy Servers

Recently we had a user run into an issue with trying to use our chat function, which uses the Java application to run. The user uses a proxy server to access the site. As a result, the Java applet wouldn't load correctly.

Users that use a proxy server should check out Java.com's help section on this issue here.

Apparently, browser settings need to be adjusted for proxy servers in order for Java applets to work. The staff at HNet cautions users on changing browser settings especially if you don't know what you're doing. Although, most of the HNet staff doesn't know what it's doing either and somehow the site continues to function. LOL

Unforuntately, I know very little about proxy servers so I can't offer any insight. If any of our other users out there have any tips or suggestions, please share them, so that others can use all the functions of HNet.

Thanks!

MaryAnne
