To Wreck a Rebel

(This story takes place a few weeks after my character Jimmy Duke comes to Hazzard. All characters are welcome!)

Rebel, Jimmy Duke's 1971 Plymouth RoadRunner, roars through Hazzard's backroads, followed by the General Lee. Jimmy has just installed new racing slicks and is eager to test them out before the Dash Around Atlanta, a 3-lap race throughout the streets of Atlanta. Jimmy and the Duke boys tear closer and closer to the mound of dirt the Dukes jumped when they were trying to rescue Daisy from Laurel and Hardy, or should I say two robbers disguised as Laurel and Hardy.

"Let's see how these babies take this jump, boys!" was what the Duke boys heard on the CB.

Rebel bounced onto the mound of dirt at full speed. Suddenly, Jimmy felt the right front tire give ways, and the big Plymouth wobbled to the right. It did a slide in that direction as it left the dirt ramp. The RoadRunner went nose-down and was already tipping over when it slammed head-on into the dirt. It landed on its roof and bounced back over, crushing parts of the trunk. Rebel launched ten feet into the air and landed hard on its right-front fender, sending it slamming into the ground with its left-rear once again. Jimmy's only thought was God, I hope this thing don't catch fire. He heard Bo and Luke send out a call for help on the CB. Then the RoadRunner hit hard on the driver's side and he fell unconscius.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rebel was seriously damaged and lay on its left side. The front end was crumpled up a bit, amazingly not completely to the engine, and the loop grille lay hanging. The fenders were crushed in and the hood was smashed. The rear had suffered the worst. It was completely caved in, the trunk sagging underneath the wheels, but it looked like it would be repairable, albeit a difficult job. A roll cage had saved the roof from crushing Jimmy Duke, but the drivers door had been knocked in and probably had injured him badly. Now was the tough part--getting him out.

Jimmy awoke (I wonder if that's a word!) in a pile of twisted, smoldering metal. He was hanging in the air sideways. His left arm hurt terribly and he felt dizzy. Most likely he had suffered a concussion and broke his arm. He unhooked his seat belt. Not the best idea--he fell from his seat and smacked into the door. Standing up, he found he could not reach the pasenger door, and then, from the shock and concussion, he passed out again, slamming his head against the horn button, a loud "Beep-beep" the last thing he heard...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bo and Luke heard the noise of the horn and grabbed the CB. "Rosco, somebody, are you out there? We just had a bad crash, Jimmy is hurt, somebody come here..."

With that, they sprinted to the flipped Plymouth.

Bo and Luke, called for help. Cooter heard the call, and made it over first. He was able to, break Jimmy out of the car, with a torch, and a crowbar. The ambulance, pulled Jimmy out of the car, and put him on the flatboard, and put him in. With Jimmy being new, The boys had no one else to call but Jesse. Everyone raced over to Tri-county General. By the time the stretcher made it into the er, Jimmy had passed out, and was almost in shock. They all waited in the er waiting room, until the dr. came out and told them that his arm was broken, and he has a concussion. Jesse sent the boys and Cooter, to rescue the wreck.

Bo- Why would he try a jump with slicks on the back, he wouldn't have the traction to land it right.

Luke- Not only that cuz, but he isn't that experienced of a driver. That car was too much muscle.

Cooter- You two, know why he did that. He has looked up to you two, ever since he was able to walk. Every summer, when he came down from Conyers, he would hang all over you two, and drool over the General. I remember when he got his licence, he called me and asked me to bulid him a car just like it, and he would wire the money for it. After he hung up, I called Luke's brother, and his father to see if it was ok. He said no. I ain't sayin' you 2 caused this, but he is definatly influenced by you guys.

Bo- I know, we tried to tell him no, but he wouldn't give up, so we did it to get the race out of his system. We just followed along, so he wouldn't get hurt. I just wished I hadn't jumped the General.

Luke- Hey Coot, you still got that old mustang, at your farm?

Cooter- Yeah why?

Luke- Well he'll need a car, and if we use some old parts, from our mustang we had from the circuit last year, we could teach him how to drive, and how to handle a car so he don't get killed the next time.

Cooter- Sounds like a good idea, I'll run the wreck to the junkyard, and strip it for parts, I'll drop you guys at the farm. It's still runs fine, shouldn't need any major work yet.

When Jimmy woke up the first thing he saw was Bo and Luke staring down at him grinning.

"What happened?" Jimmy said.

"You flipped Rebel over on it's side and you broke your arm. You also got yourself a concussion, whatever that is." Bo said. Then a girl walked in and kissed Jimmy on the cheek "Feeling better?" She said. Jimmy was really wondering who this was. She had straight hair and blue eyes. She was wearing a very short leather skirt and 6 inch heels. Then he ramembered, Madi. His best friend and Bo's girlfriend.
