  1. Your friend obviously didnt know what he was doing if he blew up his motor. Turbos are just as reliable as any other form of forced induction. It requires common sense and some proper tuning. You should research hondas more, seriously.

K20A2 is the Acura RSX type S motor which comes stock with 200hp. EM2 chassis civics like yours and mine and a lot of other civics are able to fit these engines. Combined with a nice turbo, pistons, rods, clutch and a kpro will earn you 500+whp. Now thats a very basic set-up in terms of engine building and its strong enough to put both of our civics in the 10's. You can have your domestic V8 and your rwd burn outs if thats what you like. Small jap crap cars are a lot more fun to drive in my opinion and can easily lose a big heavy domestic V8 in the twisties.

  2. I'm just talking about what a basic turbo in YOUR civic can do right now compared to YOUR challenger in its current state. You said 13.7's so thats what I was comparing it to. Now you wanna start talking about all this other stuff you can do to your challenger...thats fine also because when I start talking about the potential of a boosted k20a2 and what IT can do with just pistons and rods, the civic will still be waiting for you at the end of the track when you come waltzing across the finish line...you better start thinking about full race options if you wanna be the one coming out on top these days because imports arent laying down for you domestics anymore...

  3. My favorite '69 Charger? I'd say a base Charger, painted like the General Lee, dual glasspacks, a manual tranny, and a tuned 528 hemi hiding under the hood.

You'd have to do a lot of upgrading to the car to make it right. You would be better starting off with an R/T or at the very least a 383 car. If we take "base model" literally we are talking a "three on the tree" 3 speed transmission, a 225 c.i. "Leaning Tower of Power" Slant-6, a spindly 8.25" rearend, and inadequate (for such a motor as you want) suspension (torsion bars and rear leaf springs) and brakes. Another upgrade that all original Hemi cars had was; they had the same type of chassis that was used on convertibles; even the normal hard tops. These had box shaped reinforcements in front and in the rear of the leaf springs. These were there on convertibles because they didn't have the benefit of an integral steel roof for structural integrity. They were there on Hemi cars because Chrysler was worried about the torque of the Hemi twisting the chassis.

The best Charger to drop a really powerful motor into would be an original Hemi car though these are so valuable that they are pretty much out of the question. The next best thing would a 440 car. No chassis reinforcements but subframe connectors can pretty much make up for that. At least the transmission, suspension and brakes would all be up to snuff; or at least could be rebuilt (in the case of the transmission and the rearend) to be up to snuff whereas that stuff on a base model car would all have to be replaced.

Since you want a manual transmission you would want the version of the A-833 4 speed that came in Hemi cars. You would also want the Dana 60 rearend (these came in Hemi cars and some 440 cars). Some 440 cars came with 8.75" rearends and those can be rebuilt to handle the motor you mention. You can get the correct R/T suspension components from Mopar Performance. It would also be good to do a disk brake upgrade to at least the front. Don't forget to upgrade your fuel sending unit to a 3/8" tube either or you won't be able to feed that big motor properly.

I think we can say that this guy has definitely done his research. :D

  5. WOW, reading all of everyones' post tells me that you all sure know a lot about the show. I gotta get the collection so I can watch all the old episodes all over again. It seems like I cant remember much of small details like the ones you all describe because its been so long. I need a refresher! CMT has been airing the re-runs so I've been trying to watch those in the mean time but havent gotten into the groove of the TV schedule yet. I'm gonna start collecting the DVD's as soon as I can. :D

  6. Lets not jump to conclusions either. Lets wait and see what happens. I really dont think that they're going to slaughter the image of the original series with garbage. BTW, does anyone know how much money is being spent to make this movie? If its a lot, they wont be making much if its a bad movie.
