  1. dont worry Traveler, If the new movie does well, you can count on a sequel. I am excited about the new movie as well, and I am dying to see Burt and Willie as Boss and Uncle Jesse. As far as a new series on the WB, who knows but I think that is unlikely. take care
  2. Hello Traveler, I have heard rumors about a "new" General Lee that was in the works. Who knows, maybe this new design will get "worked" into the story line in some sort of way. Maybe (and this is just a maybe) Warner Bros is planning a way to introduce the "new " General Lee in the new movie. I wont be suprised if it happens. I hope that this does not happen because I love the General Lee the way it is and I hate the fact of changing it. But im sure Warner Bros. is looking for ways to appeal to a young audience. They may just try that by changing the car we all know and love. I just hope they leave The General alone. take care
  3. LOL...well I have seen Smokey and the Bandit at least 100 times and Jackie Gleason just tears me up even if I watch it to this day! (and still do). Not to blow my own horn or brag but I kinda have a knack for memorizing lines from movies....I tried to clean up the curses the best I could, I hope I didnt offend any of the Hazzard folk....appoligies If I did.... take care ya'll...
  4. Its nice to be at a place where the people know their stuff when it comes to movies and television! We got the Dukes of Hazzard and we got Smokey and the Bandit.....Life is good! The Truckstop scene from Smokey and the Bandit (some details of the scene I left out but ya'll wil get the picture...here goes)....... Bandit is sitting in the "Choke and Puke" Truck Stop....Sheriff Justice comes in yelling and screaming at juinor......... Sheriff: "a lemme have a diablo sandwich.... a Dr. Pepper and make it fast im in a godd$ hurry..." sheriff runs back out to yell at juinor... Sheriff: "YOU WANT SUMPIN?" Juinor: hush puppies Daddy..... Sheriff: "WE AINT GOT TIME FOR THAT CRAP".....(grumbles)......"dumb somebi&%#!!!!" Bandit: "you must be in a hell of a hurry huh sheriff?" Sheriff: "you can bet your a**on that boy" Bandit: "who you chasin? somebody chasin you" (sheriff looks bewildered at Bandit) Sherrif: "nobody's chasin me boy...im a chasin a godd@## maniac all the way from Texacana Texas" Bandit: "really?....what is he a bank robber?" Sheriff: (mouth full of sandwich) "BANKROBBEAH?".....BANKROBBIN IS BABY SHI# ALONGSIDE TO WHAT THIS DUDE IS DOIN"....ALMOST KILLED 20 LAW OFFICERS....DRIVIN THROUGH PEOPLES BACKYARDS......... KNOCKIN DOWN MAILBOXES....GOT A BROAD IN THE CAR....TOOK HER ACROSS THE STATE LINE.....THATS A MAN ACT....AND I DONT THINK SHE'S GOT HIS PERMISSION....AND THATS KIDNAPPIN!!!..... HOWS THAT FOR HIGHJINKS???....." (Sheriff justice wacks his chest with his fist....belches out what looks like a painful belch and asks...... Sheriff: "WHAT I OWE" Bandit: "no....here lemme pay for it" Sheriff: "eemmm no no no" Bandit : "no..your a officer of the law I'd be honored" Sheriff : " well much obliged....wheres the can I gotta take a squirt" Bandit: " ohh a right over there....." ( the sheriff goes to the mens room and the Bandit grabs the bag of food and runs out ) To me, this was one of the funniest scenes in Smokey and the Bandit.......take care ya'll
  5. look at it this way, if I was working 18 hour days probably six days a week, I dont think I would tell the general public where I was staying for security reasons and for the fact that I need some rest! I dont think any actor will tell anyone where they are staying unless you are a close freind or relative. Not to be mean or anything like that ,just for obvious reasons.
  6. yes, I did realize that after listening to it on the way to work this morning. YIKES!!!!!! Yes that last verse truly doesnt fit the Dukes. The song would need a major re-working to fit the new movie. But what a song to re-work!! I think Steve Earle is a very talented songwriter and singer and it is a shame that the last several years have not been good for Steve.
  7. Hey ya'll I was going though some of my Cd's today and came across a Steve Earle Greatest Hits Album. On there is a song called "Copperhead Road" I dont know what you guys think but Id like to see Steve Earle do a modified version for the Dukes of Hazzard soundtrack. Im sure many people have heard this song and I think it may just go well with the new movie. Maybe a new video too on CMT. Any thoughts? Take care ya'll
  8. yes I agree, ol Jeff Foxworthy would do just fine. I can picture Jeff doin some "cuffin and stuffin". lol...
  9. Hey Ya'll I just bought The Dukes of Hazzard: Season one on DVD and I love it!!! My favorite extra is the Dukes of Hazzard Barbecue at the Paramount Studios Ranch. I highly recommend the DVd set to ever Dukes fan!!! I heard also the CMT will start airing the Dukes in January in the US so looks like 2005 will be a great year for us Dukes fans!!! take care ya'll
  10. Hey Ya'll, this was posted before, but if you go to www.tashastevens.com you will see pics of the General Lee and Hazzard country police cars. They really are mid to late 80's Chevy Caprices. The General looks absolutley awesome!!!!! hope this helps a little....see ya'll around Hazzard
  11. I just wanted to say thank you for your first class message about the making of this movie and the hard work going on in LA. I couldnt of said it better myself. I lived in California for a year and I do have a little experience in what goes on behind the scenes in making a feature film or a television show and let me tell you, people really dont have the slightest idea what goes on behind the scenes to make everything come together on a feature film. Please good people, dont be offended if Jessica Simpson or any other actor for that reason, cannot hang around for long periods of time signing autographs shaking hands and hugging because sometimes they simply dont have the time to do it. Plain and simple. There is a downside to being a star and in the public eye. These people are REAL people and when they sign on to a project, it is an enormous undertaking. I think as fans, we owe some respect to the actors that bring our favorite TV and movie characters to life. It really is hard work. If we get the chance to see a feature film being made in one of our hometowns, we need to take a step back and just watch from a distance, sometimes a really FAR distance. I have read some messages that Sean Scott and John Knoxville have been hanging around with fans and taking time out of their busy schedule to acknowledge them and let me just say , I think it is very kind and generous of them because in all honesty they really dont have to do it, but they are so my hat is off to them. That is a class act all the way in my book. PLease understand that im not trying to be rude ya'll im just trying to reinforce some facts about moviemaking . Take care ya'll and be well!
  12. your welcome Tempest66! My favorite car of all time is the 69 Dodge Charger but I love old Pontiacs too. GTO's, Tempest, Lemans, Grand Prix and I really love the 60's Mopar Muscle cars, Charger and Roadrunner back when cars were cars!!! nice to hear from a fellow PAer too! take care
  13. Im sorry I thought your car was a GTO I see that it is a Tempest. Still a very nice ride.....love those old Pontiacs too!!
  14. Hey GA, I really dont think the original Dukes will make a cameo appearance in the new movie, I love the original cast, I grew up with them and they are like child hood heroes of mine. But from what I have been reading, they just arent interested. If I was them I dont think I would be either. I never heard anything about Ben Jones playing a mayor of a nearby county. I think that may be just a rumor. But you never know. I have said this before and I'll say this again, I hope the "new" Dukes dont get above their raising and do this thing right. I just dont want the new cast to make a mockery out of the original show. take care and se ya around Hazzard...
  15. Hi and welcome to Hazzardnet, From what I have heard and seen the Dixie horn used in the TV series was dubbed in by sound editing. However in the first few episodes from the first season, I really think they did use the actual Dixie Horn on the General. Check it out for yourself. you will notice the difference in the way the horn sounds as the episodes go on. As for the movie, I would say they will use sound editing, but it would be so cool to hear the actual horn from the General Lee. I have a little experience from the Dixie Air horn from J.C. Whitney and all I can say is that if you get it, take your time and install it properly and in a good spot. It does sound similar to the TV show horn but not exact. It will do the job though. Also, I have experienced that these air horns sometimes dont like the bitter cold so mounting it in the right place is really important. I hope I have been of some help to you. See ya around Hazzard
  16. Hey Ya'll Ive been thinking about Jessica Simpson as the new daisy and from what I understand, she is from the south originally, so just maybe with some natural southern charm, she can pull this thing off. The only thing I dont like is the fact that she has been rude to the local folk. Im suprised to hear that. I thought she would be nicer.
  17. Appreciate the great pics of the vehicles and Boars Nest ect.... Im really getting excited abuout the movie!!!!!!!!!!
  18. thanks fr the update, Im just wondering if and what the name will be of Boss Hogg's Mustang. I remember in a Dukes Episode, Boss had a race car called the "Hogg Hellcat"....lol......anyone remember? I think it was a Chevy Malibu.
  19. Just another big thank you to ya'll who have been so gracious to provide all the info and pics! Thanks for all the effort and us Dukes fans really appreciate it!!
  20. appreciate the pics and thanks for taking the time to post them! I think im starting to like the new daisy...lol.....
  21. That Christamas special literally gagged me. I think It was just downright horrible!!! BLEEEAK! I dont think even kids would of liked that one. later ya'll
  22. Thanks for your views. In all honesty I wasnt trying to degrade anyones personal vehicle with what I said. Really I didnt like what NBC did back in the early 80's to promote their new show. Also the 69 Dodge Charger is really my favortie car of all time. We all have different tastes in vehicles and that is cool.
  23. HeyCapt, didnt see the clip about jessica playing our beloved Daisy. Dang, I just dont think shes got the "chops" for the part. Shes a great looking gal but a new Daisy Duke? I guess we will see.....
  24. Hey Ya'll, Just reading some of these older posts here about KITT vs The General Lee here....I remember back in about ohhh 1982 or 1983 I was going through the TV channels and distinctly remember stopping at NBC and there was a Gentleman standing by a orange 1969 Dodge Charger with the numerals "00" on the doors. I thought to myself "what the hell is this" he goes on to say "you all know this car, It USED to be the hottest car on television" he then turns to a brand new (at the time) black 1982 Pontiac Trans Am and says "This is Knight Rider and it can do more than jump puddles" he then goes to pat the Trans Am on the roof and it takes off like a cat shot in the rump. End of commercial. This is how NBC decided the marketing of their new show "Knight Rider". To me it was a below the belt shot to CBS and The Dukes of Hazzard and The General Lee because NBC knew that CBS had such a winning show on their hands. First off in real life the 69 Dodge charger was a honest to goodness muscle car especially in the 383, 440 and 426 Hemi forms. It has the nicest body lines on an automoblie and is just a downright great looking car. The 1982 pontiac Trans Am was never a muscle car and it never will be. Ive driven these cars and they handle well but engine performance is lackluster to say the least. Pontiac lovers of the day were disappointed totally by this car. Nice looking, handled well, and excelerated like a 305V8 Chevy Caprice. The 69 Charger is by far, a much higher respected automobile than the lethargic early 80's Trans Ams> I dont even consider them to be in the same catagory. NBC tried to steal the Dukes of Hazzard audience with Knight Rider and what they really did was created a whole other fan base for an entirely different show with an entirely different car. It all depends on what kind of show tickles your fancy. As far as the General Lee vs. KITT, there just isnt a comparison. The General Lee Dodge Charger is a automobile and television legend. The Knight Rider Trans Am is just a Trans Am with a fancy dashboard and that red scanner light built into the front nosepiece. Now, which car would you like to own? Ill take the General.
