  1. "Yeah I know Daisy. I'm sorry if I hurt you today." Lizzy says. "Pardon me everyone I hate to interrupt but someone's a little eager here." The nurse said moving across the room.
  2. "Thank you. I'm sorry that I've ruined the celebration." Lizzy says watching April as the young girl began to fall asleep. "Ruined it? Darlin' you just made it ten times better." Cooter says. "Really?" Lizzy asked. "Yes not to mention gave me the best Christmas present I could ask for." Jeb says. Lizzy looks at Jeb who smiles softly. "I love you." "Love ya too." Lizzy answers. "Mr. Duke?" The doctor says again. Jeb stands and takes Heather with him into the hallway. "Have you figured it out?" Jeb asks. "No. It seems that every test we run we get the same result." "So what exactly is it that has you stumped?" "This baby is showing all the signs of being born full term yet you and your wife claim she is two months early." The doctor says. "That's because she's not early. Mommy got pregnant before they were married and feared the...backlash that would come from Grandpa Cooter. So they told everyone that it's a...what's it called Daddy?" Heather says. "We told everyone the baby was conceived on our honeymoon. Her father isn't the easiest man to put up with but he loves his daughter. He had a bit of a problem when she got pregnant with Heather so she ran away. We didn't want to go through that again so we lied. The baby is full term but nearly everyone in that room believes she's early and that's the way we want it to stay." Jeb explains. "Am I right to say this is your wife's second child but your first?" The doctor asks out of plain curiosity. "She's our second. I let her go the first time because I didn't know. I wasn't going to let her run again so I agreed." Jeb says. "Oh alright." The doctor nods. "You can go back to your family. Lizzy and the baby should be able to leave in the morning."
  3. "Lizzy doesn't know Daisy. Remember ever since last year her dad put her to school in Chickasaw." Uncle Jesse says.
  4. It's late I gtg should be on sometime tomorrow.

  5. "I've talked to the principal Daisy. He just said that you'll have to take summer school to catch up on what you've missed." Uncle Jess says.
  6. "I knew you wish you were at school Daisy but...you're too close it could be any day now." Uncle Jesse says.
  7. "Hey Kayle." Lizzy says as Heather and April came to Lizzy. Jeb scooped Heather up and Lizzy gently picked up the toddler.
  8. "I never knew what happened just that Daisy was upset by something. I never really questioned it either because Luke told me that some one had hurt her really bad. When Clay showed up I questioned Jimmy and he admitted it to me. I've kicked myself everyday because I was with my probation officer and not there for her when she needed me. For a while there Daisy disappeared from school about five months before she gave birth. Uncle Jesse wouldn't allow her to come to school." Lizzy sighs.
  9. No matter what she tried Daisy couldn't escape. The man took her back to the hotel and had his way. The next morning when he was gone Daisy woke up alone.
  10. "You're coming with me Davenport and I ain't takin' no for an answer." He hissed in her ear.
  11. "Nothing it's just that..." Jeb starts. "Please?" Lizzy asks. "It's...Something about the last tests has the doctors stumped they want to run some more tests but our baby girl should be fine." Jeb says taking Lizzy's hand. "I don't want a should be I want a gonna be. Wait did you say baby girl?" Lizzy says.
  12. The man took another sip of whiskey then looked lovingly at the picture on his dash. "This has got to be her." He muttered.
  13. "Uh, Jeb Stewart Duke? We need to talk to you for a moment." The doctor says. Jeb looks at Lizzy then kisses her forehead before joining the doctor in the hall. All Lizzy could see through the glass was Jeb nodding as the doctor spoke something about more tests. Being trained to read lips was a very hard thing to accomplish but Lizzy had done it. Except now they were standing so Lizzy could only see profiles of the men making it harder to read. Soon Jeb nodding again and then reentered the room.
