  1. *forgets about necktie and stands up from the bench, obviously still very much in jail. Approaches the bars again to see who has come into the booking room. Is surprised to see the Sheriff, MaryAnne and the blond haired prisoner* "This is a violation of my rights, Deputy Coltrane. I'm being subjected to cruel and unusual punishment..."
  2. *looks at Lex and as the young girl's mouth keeps on running, props an elbow on his knee and rests his head in his hand. Doesn't seem at all offended by anything Lex says, only the occasional jump of eyebrows shows any reaction to what she's saying. When she finishes, he looks at her for a long moment, reminded of an old Irish proverb that says 'tis better to keep one's mouth shut and appear the fool than to open it and remove all doubt.' *since the girl seemed bored, decides to play up on her spiel. Stands up from the bench and approaches the bars of the holding cell. Speaks calmly and apologetically* "Apparently I offended you by not taking your offer. My apologies." *expression becomes wistful* "You're probably right. I've been in the city waaay too long and it's warped my brain. I guess I got a bad case of Cityfioused Stupidious, AKA Dumb City Slicker Syndrome. There's probably no cure. Now I'm stuck here in a backwoods jail. Serves me right I s'pose..." *turns away from the bars and steps back to the bench, sitting down next to suit jacket, sighing heavily* "Yeah, the wife will probably divorce me now. I'll be an embarassment to the Atlanta PD so that'll be the end of my career." *snorts ruefully* "Twenty-six years, flushed down the toilet all because I rejected a young girl's offer of a puzzle book...." *shakes head sadly* "For that, I am such a wretched human being..." *looks down at self, seeing necktie. Pulls it untucked from his vest and holds out the material. Shakes head again* "Hazzard County Sheriff's office should know better than to put a potentially despondent man in a jail cell with a necktie..."
  3. *glares at Lex as she turns her back to greet Daisy. Dumb city slicker?!*
  4. *still sitting on the bench in the holding cell, looks at the young woman and gives a rueful snort* "Young lady, I would recommend you not be an accessory to anything, whether it be for me or for Brian." *gets up and walks to the bars* "However, the law and other folks in this town have made it pretty clear where they stand and I doubt there's anything you could do that would make it worth my while to tell you what Brian did to ruffle my tail feathers. I expected little help or sympathy by coming here, but justice doesn't care about making friends." *turns back to the bench, pausing a moment to remove his blue suit jacket before sitting back down. His empty shoulder holster was strapped over his vest. He didn't look at Lex again and instead focused on one of the bricks in the wall across from him*
  5. *Takes copious notes* "....four horses...."
  6. *steps out of patrol car at the Sheriff's command and allows self to be placed under arrest. Rosco removes the 9mm handgun from Jack's shoulder holster and then places handcuffs on the lieutenant's wrists* "You have the right to remain silent..." "Are the handcuffs really necessary, Sheriff?" "Hush." *Rosco resumes the Miranda warnings and then Jack to his patrol car and places him in back. MaryAnne meanwhile has secured her patrol car and locked it. She and Rosco would come back for it once Jack has been placed in jail. A few moments later, Rosco's patrol car leads the way with Maverick following back to town.* *back at the sheriff's office, Rosco puts Jack in the holding cell. The Lieutenant looks at Rosco through the bars after the door is shut* "All right Sheriff, what are the charges?" "How's stealing county property and assaulting an officer sound for starters?" *blinks* "You play hardball, I see." "I can play a pretty good game of dirty pool when I have to. Here's the deal. We'll get your car back for you and then I'll set bail. And assuming you can pay it, you'll be allowed to leave. You leave and never come back, I'll drop the charges." "I see your reputation as a fair and honest lawman has remained intact despite the rumours..." *Rosco ignores the comment* "That's the deal. For now, you sit. MaryAnne and I have to go get her patrol car. We'll be back." *watches the two officers leave. With a sigh, he turned and sat down on the wooden bench. He had a feeling he was going to be here for quite a spell.*
  7. *turns attention from the audience back to the action at hand, turning wheel of Plymouth Fury in time to avoid careening into the Trans Am. After stopping, starts to get out of car to approach the young girl and ask her what the hell that was all about, but she jumps into an orange Dodge Charger that goes flying by.* *All in all, the young girl has suceeded in allowing Alex and Brian to get away in Jack's Chevy Caprice, leaving the Lieutenant in a moment of defeat in the middle of a dusty Hazzard road. He returns to the Plymouth Fury and turns the car around, heading back toward town* *coming directly at him is a recognizable royal blue Firebird...*
  8. *in the Hazzard County police car, one erstwhile police Lieutenant watches the 1968 Pontiac that Julieduke erroneously calls a Trans Am. Trans Ams weren't made until 1969. The sudden arrival of this new vehicle, first behind Jack in the patrol car, then apparently in front of him, but then ahead of Alex...or was that behind Alex? Or maybe it was driving backwards infront of Alex but behind Jack. Either way, it has thrown a wrench into the space time continium, which gives the city cop the excuse to look away from his driving for a moment and look at the audience, confused* "HUH?!"
  9. *spins around to find himself inches from the front grill of the Fury* "$#%&!" *jumps back and then steps around the car and up to the driver door. Pulls it open* "Out!" "I don't think so --" "OUT!" *reaches in and grabs the deputy by the arm, pulling her out of the car and sending her over into Daney's direction, nearly knocking the Duke woman down for a second time* *after getting in, slams the car door shut and looks out the open window* "You and your Sheriff cousin have made it pretty clear which side of the blue line you're on this time. I wondered how long it would take before your badge was just as tarnished as his!" *MaryAnne stood, mouth agape* "You got nothin' on Brian! Leave him alone!" "Nice try...." *slams the car into gear and tears off around the square following the road he last saw his unmarked Caprice on*
  10. *...which burst open a moment later and out comes flying one blue suited Atlanta cop, who had seen everything from the window in the booking room. Jack barrels down the courthouse steps going directly after...* "Brian!!"
  11. *in his line of work, Jack had had various women flirt, flaunt and, unfortunately, fall for him. As such, the lieutenant had built up a pretty good resistence over the years, helped by the little gold band around his left finger. Whether the doctor was really hurt or not was debatable, but the excessive physical contact was obvious that she was going out of her way to either get his attention or distract him. No woman, ever, had made any kind of move on Jack at first meeting like this. He wasn't ugly, but he wasn't stop traffic attractive either. He was slim and fit, but the wire rimmed glasses and the angles of his face made him look a little more severe. Some woman would consider him to just be plain vanilla. Certainly, not worth feigning an injury to the ankle just to get a little closer to him.* *looks at the woman, appearing obvious that he has little interest in her ploy.* "Yeah, I bet you would..." * glances to Rosco for help but the Sheriff has wandered over to the holding cell....* *once Doc is settled on the chair, steps away from her and looks at Rosco* "Well that's great, Sheriff, but I'm not leaving until I get my car back. And don't tell me I'm the only gentleman in this room who can help the lady here..." *gestures to Doc* "which, I'll be happy to help you," *he says, looking at her* "but if you're hurting that bad I think it might take two of us to get you where you want to be." *looks to Rosco again* *Rosco, not exactly realizing why Chance was being so friendly toward Jack to begin with, stepped away from his office door and looked at the city cop* "We don't need your help 'round here. I'll take care of Doc. Why don't you just leave?" "Not until--" "Forget your car! Jit! I'll put you on that bus myself." "You running me out of town Sheriff?" "You might say that." "Well good luck. Because I'm not leaving. I was going to issue fair warning to MaryAnne but I'll give it to you instead. Justice is demanding her payment, Sheriff and I'm here to collect. And I'm not leaving until I do..."
  12. *looks around the booking room and sees the chairs located just down from the booking desk* "Here, you better sit down...." *steers the young woman toward the chairs, noticing that she seems to be making a point of 'getting a little closer.'* "Uh, must hurt really bad huh?"
  13. *the lieutenant had been listening to Rosco sputter on about the absuridity of MaryAnne having a Bad Guy Contest when suddenly out of the corner of his eye he saw the attractive blonde trip and come flailing toward him. He and Rosco both reacted, the lieutenant obviously being in a better position to help the damsel in free-fall distress, since she latched on him at the moment of decent. Jack caught her in a secure embrace and steadied her back on her feet.* "Woah, careful there...." *notices briefly the spike heeled boots that were apparently the culprit of the fall* "I think you need to either practice more with those boots or just give up." *looks at her with a smile* "You okay?"
  14. "No, that's all, thanks. Helps your detective business eh? He must be the repo man..." *tucks badge back into inside pocket of suit jacket and turns around, walking back to the courthouse* *jogs up the steps and heads inside. A moment later, comes through the booking room doors to find Rosco dealing with a small riot. A group of people are asking about the Bad Guy contest and when would MaryAnne be back. Rosco, apparently having no clue what his cousin had been up to, could only answer...* "Danged if I know! What do you mean Bad Guy contest? MaryAnne was holding a Bad Guy contest? We got enough bad guys in this town all ready. We got Brian. Jit! We don't need more than him. And Alex I suppose. And...well, there's them Duke boys, they're bad enough. In fact, they're worse. They're--" *glances up to see who has entered* *upon seeing the Atlanta cop who's name he couldn't remember, Rosco left the crowd and boldly approached the man in the suit* "Jit Jit! Awright, awright, what are you doin' here? I got enough trouble in my county, I don't need some city slick cop making things worse." "Well, originally I came here looking for your cousin." "I dunno where he is." "I meant your other cousin. MaryAnne." "Oh. Well I dunno where she is either. If I did, I wouldn't have all these unhappy people here, asking about some contest I know nothin' about and I would probably also know why the heck Lex Hogg is in my holdin' cell." *glances over at the holding cell, sees the young girl behind the bars. Looks back at the Sheriff.* "You folks sure do keep busy around here don't you?" "We manage just fine thankyouverymuch." "Well that's good. Then maybe you can help me get my car back and I won't hang around town too long. I think it was stolen by Alex Jackson." *somebody in the crowd blurterd out about MaryAnne telling Alex to steal the car* "Jit jit! Why would MaryAnne tell somebody to steal a car? That's unbecoming of a deputy Sheriff!" *responds* "Not if she were testing somebody to be a Bad Guy."
  15. *one eyebrow goes up from behind the wire rimmed glasses. Not sure if the question is legit or if the girl is being flip. Answers seriously* "Lieutenant. With the Atlanta police department." *shows badge* "Now Bo or A.J. One of them have long blond hair?"
  16. "There was a man in the courthouse a little while ago, tall blonde, wearing jeans and a dark jacket. You wouldn't happen to know who he is would you?"
  17. *looks up at the woman as she passes* "What? Oh. Yeah, don't worry about it..." *resumes silent fuming over unmarked car being stolen and then being blown off by the Sheriff. Knows that the car thief had long blond hair, and figured it might have been the tall blond that had been in the booking room before when Jack had gone in.* *That's brassy. Stealing a car right from in front of the police station. Though from what I've heard of this town that's not all to unusual.Suddenly thinks of something. Turns in the direction the woman with the backpack is heading* "Excuse me, just a moment. May I ask you something?"
  18. *hears the sound of a roaring engine coming from the direction of the courthouse, turns around and sees own Chevy Caprice taking off for parts unknown* "Hey! HEY!!!" *starts running back but the car is gone out of town in a lot less than 60 seconds. Stops on the sidewalk infront of the courthouse, giving up* *suddenly, sees a white Plymouth patrol car rounding the corner. Flags the car down* "Jit jit!" Rosco exclaimed. "Git out of the road!" "Sorry, Sheriff. Somebody just stole my car!" "Stole yer car?!" "I don't think I can make it any plainer, Sheriff. They just took off, it's a plain grey Chevy police car. I'd appreciate it if we could go after them." "Police car! Jit! Is nothin' sacred?" *looks at the sharp suited man* "Wait a minute, you're a cop?" *flashes badge* "Jack Morrison, Atlanta PD." "JIT! You're--you're--I know who you are, you're whassisname!" *blinks. Crap* "Umm..." "Sorry," *turns head away, wanting nothing to do with the cop* "I'm off duty." *patrol car rolls away from the lieutenant.* *throws hands up*
  19. *the 48 year old lieutenant stops short* "Brian?!" *turns around but the woman who spoke has disappeared into the booking room. Shakes head, turning back the other way and continues on down the hall* "Either Brian's starting to look older than his age or that girl needs some serious glasses...."
  20. 'Yeah..." *smirks* "I might..." *steps back and exits through the booking room doors*
  21. *stops at the booking room doors hearing the snideness in the blond man's voice. Turns around* "Thanks, I'll do that. Though I may decide to be a bad cop...and not have a donut."
  22. *through the booking room doors came a dark haired man dressed in a sharp dark blue three piece suit. He was tall and lithe, moving fluidly with each step. He stopped short at the small crowd already gathered and through wire rimmed glasses looked around at the scene. The girl in the holding cell was still chuckling, the man with long blond hair was looking embarrassed and the attractive blonde woman was giving him a sly grin. Whatever he had walked in on, the Atlanta police lieutenant decided he would just turn around and walk right back out. He glanced at MaryAnne* "I see you're busy. I'll come back later..."
