"Capt_Redneck": Sorry..........Don't think so about talking myself into liking it. I have been very openminded about it since the beginning. -------Well Sparky, I`m just going by YOUR statement: " I have been preaching on here for the better part of a year to give this movie a chance. You know something , I did and the movie was better than what I expected. Hearing Waylon's Good Ol Boys in the opening I knew this would be a helluva good ride." .....That doesn`t sound too "openminded" to me, but more predisposed --or "Mind Made Up" if you prefer. Even from "the opening" you KNEW that this was going to be bla-bla-bla... Hey Goober, eh I mean PALADIN..........What is with calling me "Sparky" ?.....Just because you are a newbie on here and didn't like the movie, doesn't mean you do that.... Read into it what you want. But you are dead wrong buddy....I will not get into me explaining myself to you in this thread. Go back and read my posts about it for the past year...... 'Captain Redneck"...The name just says it all, I guess.... I`ve lived all my life in The South, and most rednecks I have met are MORONS. (Now, "Good Ol` Boys" are smart...but "Rednecks"...? ) Well frankly, SPARKY, it`s not so much the movie that I don`t like...it`s you. That`s what makes you "Sparky". --And in case it needs spelling out, I`m NOT your "buddy". I`m not looking for online friends. I`ve also got better things to do than dwell too much upon your rantings . I`ve quoted precisely what you said here, and your comments were heavily biased, despite your posturing yourself as being "open-minded". As for your puerile lil` attempt at putting me down & brushing me off with the "newbie" remark... (underlined, yet! ) GROW UP. That sort of elementary school crap is how children and the mentally defficient rank each other. You want "bragging rights" ...because you`ve wasted more time on a message board longer than someone else has??......... That`s pretty SAD, Sparky. If racking up post counts on a message board is how you measure the validity of someone`s opinion, then you need a serious REALITY CHECK. But then, I have already said as much. You don`t even understand your own comments, yet tell me to read them.... YOU READ YOUR POSTS. " I have been preaching on here for the better part of a year to give this movie a chance. You know something , I did and the movie was better than what I expected. Hearing Waylon's Good Ol Boys in the opening I knew this would be a helluva good ride." Personally, I`ve got better things to do than argue online with A Fool over a very foolish movie. I`ll leave you to enjoy your little play world now, where your mighty post count makes you worth more than others, who are but lowly "newbies".... No wonder you loved the movie so....Like yourself, it was a lotta BS. -

----Seems to me that you talked yourself into liking it BEFORE you even saw it.... But then, many have just as well talked themselves into hating it the same way. Personally, I`ll just say that it could have been much better--and the series was not done Justice in any way --except the car stuntwork. The movie is enjoyable as long as you can pretend that the series never happened and that this is the movie that "Moonrunners' wanted to be --but did not have the budget for. -

What do you think of the new movie from what you've heard?

------ One tagline that I am REALLY getting tired of hearing is the "THRILLBILLIES" description of The Dukes. The worst thing about it is that, given the promo scenes , it is high-probability accurate. Bo and Luke look to be dirty, wild, low-brain rednecks with a seemingly-indestructible muscle car . The only similarity with the series is the seemingly indestructible muscle car. The stuntwork with the car looks good. The General Lee will fly as well --or better---than ever before. Just don`t expect to see "Bo and Luke" driving it. These two will NOT be your classic "Duke Boys". Mayhap they should have turned it into a sci-fi film and had Boss Hogg clone a pair of dark, dirty dim-witted Duke Boys to replace the originals ? -

.........Actually the movie looks to be more akin in spirit to "Moonrunners", the original Dukes movie. That might not be a bad thing. Standing alone, the movie might be a lot of fun. Then again, it just may make Coy and Vance look good. -

When I first heard of a big screen remake being done of The Dukes, I had mixed feelings; on the one hand, it would be a boost for the original series ( which has happened--with the accellerated release of the dvds alone)....and I thought that the movie could sbe a lot of fun.....There have been some pretty good adaptations of old series . But painful memories of such AWFUL messes being made of 'The Wild Wild West" and "The Avengers" had me more than a little bit apprehensive. Then the cast of The Dukes movie was named.... and whereas Willy Nelson and Burt reynolds were plusses...I felt a distinct sinking sensation over the rest. Now, having seen the trailer, I am almost certain that this film is going to be almost NOTHING like the series that has become a cherished "Old Friend" over the years. Bo and Luke, who WERE clean-cut "Good Guys" seem like lewd and lascivious Morons with a hot muscle car. Daisy looks to be the Hazzard town slut. Even my earlier good feelings about Reynolds and Willy are shaky, since Boss Hogg now seems to be intended to be GENUINELY EVIL....and a scene with "Uncle Jesse" tossing improvised `Shine Molotov Cocktails does not instill confidence. Frankly, I think that the only way that this movie is going to be palatable for Dukes fans is if you go into it forgetting the series existed and just imagine it`s a remake of "Moonrunners". I have a Free Admission ticket from the Dukes 3rd season dvd set...and if that is good, Ill go see the film....But ONLY if I don`t have to pay a dime to get in. I don`t expect the series I enjoy to be depicted on that screen. Thomas Wolfe said it best; "You Can`t Go Home Again."...at least, not if Hollywood is supplying the directions. -
