The Duke family lives in Hazzard County, Georgia, where they run a farm and always find themselves at odds with the corrupt local government. Their patriarch, Jesse Duke, is a former moonshiner known for his wisdom and integrity—probably the most respected man in six counties. After raising his orphaned nephews, Bo and Luke Duke, and niece, Daisy Duke, Jesse gave up moonshining to keep the boys out of prison after they were caught on a run. As part of their probation, Bo and Luke can’t carry firearms or leave Hazzard County, but that doesn’t stop them from stirring up trouble—especially when it comes to fighting corruption. They help run the farm, drive around in their souped-up orange Dodge Charger, the General Lee, and take every opportunity to outsmart Hazzard’s crooked officials.
Daisy works as a waitress at the Boar’s Nest, the most popular bar in town, owned by the greedy and scheming Boss Jefferson Davis "J.D." Hogg. Boss Hogg controls nearly everything in Hazzard, including Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane, who was once a respected lawman but turned crooked after losing most of his pension in a failed bond election. Now, Boss is smuggling illegal slot machines into Hazzard, planning to distribute them through Rosco.
After hijacking the shipment, Bo and Luke come up with a plan to distribute the slot machines themselves—not for personal gain, but to help the community. They arrange for civic clubs and organizations to use the machines, donating the proceeds to fund renovations for the local orphanage, which is on the verge of being shut down by the health department.

Daisy's dreams of becoming a songwriter take a hit when she hears her song on the radio—only it's not being sung by Jessi Colter, but by an impersonator. Sensing a scam, Bo and Luke head to Atlanta to investigate, only to discover that the recording studio is actually a front for a music piracy operation. Worse yet, Boss Hogg is involved, using the scheme to gain favor with the Syndicate.
With the help of a motorhome full of “working girls” and a couple of dynamite arrows, the Dukes bring the operation crashing down. Though Daisy doesn’t get her fifty dollars back, she gets something even better—Jessi Colter herself wants to record her song for real.
