Plot Summary

Jasper Fenwick wants some 'shine, but Boss' isn't good enough, and he insists on Jesse's recipe. After realizing that Jesse never wrote down his recipe, Boss frames Bo and Luke with stealing money meant for the orphanage, and says he'll only release them if Jesse makes a batch of 'shine.

Commentary

Trivia

  • The episode's title is a reference to the early-1900s vaudeville song, Shine On, Harvest Moon.
  • Jim Baker (Jasper Fenwick) and Michael Keenan (Rayford Flicker) both appeared in a two-part episode of Alice spin-off Flo. The episode, The Price of Avocados, also featured Mickey Jones, who was B. B. Davenport in Granny Annie.

Bloopers

  • When the boys are fleeing the Boars's Nest, Bo accidentally selects first gear and the General lurches forward before they reverse out.
  • After Cletus jumps the creek and pulls up next to the Duke Boys, there's a large dent in the General's door, even though nothing hit it.
  • When Bo and Luke are trying to stop Rayford, the damage on his car comes and goes.

Quotes

  • As Jasper's tasting Boss' 'shine:
Waylon: "Hazzard folks call bad moonshine 'old factory whistle'. One blast and you're through for the day."

  • When Cletus and Rosco arrest Bo and Luke:
    Cletus: "All right. Freeze!"
    Rosco: "All right. Freeze!"
Cletus: "I already froze them for you."
Rosco: "Will you hush? I'm your superior officer, I'm the freezer."
