Season 3 had the highest viewing figures of all seven seasons. It started with a two-hour special, Carnival of Thrills, but the next episode was delayed for several weeks due to an actors' strike. Sonny Shroyer left to star in his own spin-off show, Enos, and Rick Hurst's Cletus became the regular Hazzard deputy. Season 3 also saw the introduction of recurring characters Miz Tisdale and Sheriff Little.
