  1. I would have to say my favorite, beyond all of them, is in later episodes where Rosco says, "great gobs of gallopin' goose grease". That one just always struck me funny. Jimmy Best sure can deliver a line.

I watch the 20th Anniversary Barbeque on Youtube a lot because I love to watch everyone's interaction with one another. Love how they get along in real life.

  2. I'm replying to my own post, I know. I'm still flying after meeting Sonny last Sunday. He is, hands down, the sweetest person I've ever met in my life. He's a big guy with a big heart. He's one of the few people in this world there just isn't enough good to say about him. I somehow knew he'd be that way. Even wished my family a safe trip home. I told him hubby does the driving and I do the praying so it evens out. LOL

Sonny, wherever you are, love you to pieces!!!

  3. That's funny. I heard his wife says the same thing about him. LOL

Seriously, it was really an amazing time. The guy that ran the car show took us right up to meet him. When I told Vinny I'd been waiting 30 years to meet Sonny, he escorted us to get to him. I felt so good that just giving Sonny a simple thing as a ball cap touched his heart like it did. I wish y'all could have seen his face. When he did speak, he sounded kind of choked up. I hope they bring him back next year. I'd give my right arm to see him a few more times while we still have him with us. His heart is as big as he is, that's for sure. And anyone that knows him is aware, THAT'S BIG. As you can tell by the picture, he towers over me and my kids. My daughter literally attached herself to him. Just ran up and wrapped her arms around him. I had to explain to him that she was my daughter and that giving him a hug was the only thing she wanted to do.

Now I really feel like one of the lucky ones. This will go down as one of the greatest moments of my life.

  4. Well, I can see why everybody loves meeting Sonny Shroyer so much.

Sonny is as genuine as they come. DaisyMaeDuke, who has met him several times, said it best: "He makes everybody who meets him feel like they're the most important fan in the world." That's an understatement.

Not only does he make you feel like you're his most valuable fan, he makes you feel like you're a member of his family, a long lost friend and a citizen of Hazzard County.

A skeptical person might point out "Well, he is an actor after all" but I'll gaurantee that anybody who's ever met him wouldn't say that.

Now, I might not be the sharpest tool in the shed but I do know human nature and I pride myself in being a good judge of character and I'd bet the farm that Sonny is one of the most down-home, loving, friendly, loyal, thoughtful actors to ever walk the streets of Hollywood. It doesn't take too long after talking to him to feel his genuine love of his fellow human beings.

He put a smile on the face of every single fan who met him and made everyone feel like they were his personal friend.

There's not a whole lot of heroes left in Hollywood but Sonny Shroyer tops the shrinking list of the few that still exist. For that, he has my admiration and respect. He is certainly deserving of respect since he gives so much respect to others.

In addition to meeting Sonny, I also had the pleasure of seeing DaisyMaeDuke and TimDuke again. Also, I talked extensively with Ray Kohn of "Northeast Ohio Dukes". Ray has jumped General Lees five different times and was displaying a General that he jumped over a bus (by the looks of it, it was a horrendous crash, Khee Khee!!) He was also displaying one of his Hazzard County patrol cars that was detailed to look exactly like the real McCoy.

I've never met him, but from what I can tell, I could not have said that better myself.

  5. We've had a couple of stories with Enos and Daisy both getting drunk. One had them trapped in his patrol car in a blizzard and they had to drink moonshine he had in his trunk (it was confiscated) to keep from freezing to death.

In the other one, they go to a family party of Enos's, get drunk, and wind up getting married without knowing it until they wake up the next morning! You can imagine how they would react to such a thing. It was inspired by an episode of MASH where Winchester comes back from RnR in Tokyo and can't remember what he did when a lady calling herself Mrs. Winchester shows up.

We also have some stories of Enos getting drunk in his younger and wilder days and doing such crazy antics, topping it off with mooning Sherriff Rosco P. Coltrane. There is still an outstanding warrant to this day (inspired by the film Sweet Home Alabama).

Where are these posted? Anyone know? I'd like to read them.

  6. The only reason I watched the Coy and Vance eps back then was because of Enos.

And, for anyone who doesn't know, the reason Enos was so built is because Sonny is not only very tall (6'2"), but worked out with weights and was a football player for Florida State, which is where he met, and became friends with, Burt Reynolds.

More trivia for the board.
