  5. I am so happy to post this latest update on Al. I just got off the phone with Tom and he just talked with Al. This is absolutely the most wonderful news we have heard in quite some time. The staph infection is completely gone. Now Al can focus on the recovery. He was in the hospital longer than he thought he would be with this latest operation but did go home yesterday. During that operation the entire knee was removed and the leg "cemented" together. There are still some surgeries ahead but Al is now in good spirits. The infection is gone so things are looking up for him. Tom said that Al repeatedly talked about how much the cards, letters, thoughts, and prayers have meant to him. He wants everybody to know that he appreciates everything and wants a big THANK YOU to go to all of you. As for the future, Al is scheduled for knee replacement surgery on July 9. Doctors are saying that it will take the rest of the year for recovery as he will need to learn how to use and walk with the replacement knee. Al is ready as he wants to walk down to the ocean again and wants to once again play golf, a sport which I hear he is good at. There is one other medical problem which you may not be aware of. Al has an irregular heartbeat. This is not something which just now developed. Doctors have decided to operate in August and put in a pacemaker to regulate his heartbeat. Al has been placed on a medication for the knee surgery which could effect the heartbeat. Due to the combination of the medication and the heartbeat condition doctors have told Al that he can't fly. For that reason Al can't attend the Professional Stuntman's Invitational (PSI) in North Carolina June 26, 27, and 28. Even though he was looking forward to attending Al has accepted this decision by his doctors. He will be there in spirit and hopes that everyone attending enjoys the stunt his son, Lee Smith, is going to perform. Al wanted everyone to know that his son will be jumping a Knight Rider car during the stunt show. For those of you who don't yet know the name Lee Smith, he performed that fantastic jump in "Collier & Co. - Hot Pursuit". THANK YOU again from Al for the support he has received from all of you. I will keep you updated on his progress. Phyllis
  6. Good news! Al just got home from the hospital. Tom called me and said that he just got off the phone with Susan, Al's wife. They were just bringing Al into the house and getting him settled. A nurse was there to help and Susan said that it would take about an hour. All we know right now is that the surgery went well and Susan sounded very positive. Tom is planning on talking with Al tomorrow so there may be another update then. If so, I'll certainly post it for everyone. Phyllis
  7. I just got off the phone with Tom. Al's surgery was postponed until tomorrow. He enters the hospital tomorrow morning for surgery and the tentative schedule is for him to be hospitalized until next Tuesday. Everything from the previous knee surgery will be removed and the area will be "cemented". It will take 2 months for this to heal and then there will be reconstructive knee surgery performed to replace the knee. Tom said that Al's tone of voice sounds much better. He has confidence in these doctors and cards and letters are continuing to arrive. Al is so appreciative of everyone's concern. This is going to be a long process but Al is in the right spirit for it now thanks in large part to all of you. For that a big "THANK YOU" goes out to everyone from Al, his wife Susan, his son Lee, and Tom. Please keep the cards and letters coming. If you've sent one already, send another one if you can. We are making a difference. Keep Al in your thoughts and prayers. Alan Wyatt, Jr. PO Box 6596 Malibu, CA 90264 I will keep you updated. Phyllis _________________
  8. Hi everybody, I want to pass on the exciting news I received from Michael Barnard. He informed me that John Schneider won the best actor award for his performance in "Gods of Circumstance" at the British Film Festival held recently in Los Angeles. Way to go, John! Phyllis JOHN SCHNEIDER WINS BEST ACTOR AWARD Actor compared to John Wayne, Henry Fonda, James Stewart Los Angeles, Friday, May 8, 2009 Actor John Schneider (TV’s Dukes of Hazzard, Smallville, The Secret Life of the American Teenager; Cable’s NIP/TUCK, Lake Placid II; Movies COLLIER & CO. – HOT PURSUIT!, Sydney White, Exit to Eden; Broadway’s Grand Hotel, Chicago) won the BEST ACTOR award for his starring role in the motion picture THE GODS OF CIRCUMSTANCE. The award was presented Friday, May 8, 2009 at the conclusion of the British Film Festival in Los Angeles, where the film premiered. Circumstance’s Director Justin Golding compared Schneider to John Wayne, Henry Fonda, and James Stewart. “They’re not superheroes. They’re you and me,†said Golding. “And John has that. You put him in denims and a jacket and workman’s boots and you believe he can go build a house.†According to Martin A. Grove in The Hollywood Reporter, “The role fits Schneider like a glove.†The film garnered additional honors, as Cate Cohen won for Best Actress and Brian Krause won for Best Supporting Actor at the ceremony at the Custom Hotel in Los Angeles. “The Gods of Circumstance†had its world premiere May 3 as the opening film for the British Film Festival in Los Angeles. The film was written by Michael Thacker. --- Contact: Michael R. Barnard Contact by E-mail Fax: (815) 301-6741
  9. Hi everyone, I just got off the phone with Tom Sarmento and he asked me to update everyone on the condition of Al Wyatt, Jr. Al is still having a lot of problems from the staph infection/knee surgery which he recently had. Recovery has not gone well to this point. Medication has also caused some problems as Al has some slurred speech and is extremely tired. He lives close to the beach in Malibu and always spent a lot of time in the water. That is impossible for him now. His wife, Susan, told Tom that Al will be admitted into the hospital again tomorrow, Monday, May 4, where he will be prepped for a new surgery. He will be released on Tuesday, May 5, to go home and rest before the surgery. He will then be admitted into the hospital next Monday, May 11, for surgery. He has new doctors and is happy about that. They are basically starting over as they are going to take out everything that has been done in the earlier surgery and re-cement the knee. They say it will take about two months to heal. This is going to make it extremely difficult for Al to attend the PSI event in North Caroline in June. We know that fans will understand if he can't make it but he wants to be there for a couple of reasons. His son, Lee, is going to be performing one of the stunts at that event. Al, of course, is proud that his son is taking up where he left off with the stunts and wants to see his performance. Al also wants to be there because of the fans. He has said that he never knew he had so many fans until this problem started. He has received cards and letters from all over the world and is so appreciative of that. He asked Tom to make sure that his "THANK YOU" got back to all the people who have mailed him something. He certainly hopes to come to PSI. The hardest part will be getting him with his wheelchair into a plane. He would be taken care of by the other stunt team members once he arrived in North Carolina. According to Susan he "needs to get there" in order to pick up his spirits. We as fans can also continue to help pick up his spirits by sending cards and letters to him at the following address: Alan Wyatt, Jr. PO Box 6596 Malibu, CA 90264 Please continue keeping Al in your thoughts and prayers. I will keep you updated. Thanks. Phyllis
  10. Hi everyone, Thanks to my friend Grant I have an update on the condition of Al Wyatt, Jr. Tom Sarmento said that Al is out of the hospital and home but in a wheelchair. It appears as though he will need more knee surgery in the future. He doesn't want to come to the Professional Stuntman Invitational in a wheelchair; however, Tom has talked him into it for now. Cards and letters may still be mailed to Alan Wyatt, Jr. PO Box 6596 Malibu, CA 90264 Thanks for keeping Al in your thoughts and prayers. Phyllis
  11. Happy Birthday, John. Have a great one! Phyllis
  12. Hi everyone, I have an update on the health of Al Wyatt, Jr. thanks to my friend, Ryan. Al is doing a little better; however, because of the staph infection doctors can only replace half of the knee at the current time. This operation is going to be performed immediately and then he will be released from the hospital on Thursday or Friday. He will be home for 7-10 days and then return for an exam to see if the staph infection is increasing or decreasing. After that they will operate again and replace the other half of the knee. He is still in a lot of pain but is excited about all of the mail he has been receiving. He's still opening some of the mail and is looking forward to reading all of it before he is discharged later this week. He wants to say "thank you very very much" for all the mail he has received. It means the world to him and he is excited about seeing the Dukes fans at the stunt show in North Carolina this summer. Susan and Lee also wish to thank everyone for the outpouring of love sent to Al. If you haven't sent that card or letter yet or want to send something else the address is still being used. Alan Wyatt, Jr. PO Box 6596 Malibu, CA 90264 Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks, everyone. Phyllis
  13. Yes, this is really a great DVD. I hope a lot of people take advantage of this reduced price. Phyllis
  14. ANNOUNCING STRAIGHT N’ ARROW PRODUCTIONS GIGANTIC SPRING CLEANING SALE THIS LIMITED EDITION DVD MUST BE CLEARED OFF THE SHELVES IN ORDER TO MAKE SPACE FOR NEW INVENTORY. PRICES HAVE BEEN SLASHED! Take advantage of this offer TODAY! How many times have you returned home from a vacation only to wish that you had somehow saved it on DVD so you could never forget it? Or a friend described their vacation to you and you wished that you could watch it on your TV? If that vacation was a trip to Covington, Georgia, in late June, 2008, your wishes have just come true due to the efforts of some of my friends. The recent release of the DVD “On The Road To Hazzard†will fulfill your dreams. Watch as producers Erik and Ryan drive from Missouri to Georgia with a couple of stops along the way to allow some friends to join the caravan. Once there the fun really begins. It’s as if you were there every step along the way. Friends converge on Hazzard (Covington) Square. General Lee replicas are everywhere. You are taken on a tour of the filming sites for the first five episodes of the “Dukes of Hazzardâ€. You’ll never believe or forget what the inside of Uncle Jesse’s home looks like today. A General Lee will be shown racing through Hazzard Creek as it did 30 years ago. You will see and hear the fun we all had at the 2nd annual Hazzard County BBQ. It was held in the middle of a thunderstorm with thunder booming and lightning streaking through the sky but that didn’t dampen the spirit of the evening. No, there was not any electricity and State Line Mob had to perform their concert totally unplugged but the evening was fun nonetheless. Headlights from the parked cars gave us enough light to see by and we proved that “Dukes of Hazzard†fans can survive. This DVD is an honest look at a vacation trip last summer. It is not something read from a script. Everyone in the documentary is just being himself/herself. The warmth and caring all these people have for each other as friends, for that TV series “Dukes of Hazzard†and for that orange clunker car General Lee will shine throughout the documentary. You will want it if for no other reason than that. I found it so strange to hear Erik in the DVD describe his first time in Hazzard Square as “surrealâ€. I had used the same word last summer to describe how I felt when I first arrived there. I felt as though Bo and Luke were going to run down those courthouse steps any time with Rosco and Boss Hogg stumbling along behind them. You will have some of these same feelings as you watch this DVD. This DVD is a two-disc set and is not available in stores anywhere. It is being sold by the production company, Straight N’ Arrow Productions. Supplies are limited so get your order in today. Paypal $31 including shipping anywhere in the US to straightnarrowprod@yahoo.com. International orders please add an extra $6 for shipping (total $37). Your DVD will be shipped promptly. You won’t be disappointed. Thank you and God Bless. 15. Hi everyone, I have some horrible news to tell you. All Dukes fans love John, Tom, Cathy, Ben, James, Sonny, Rick, the late Denver and Sorrell, and of course Flash and the General Lee. We all realize though that the show would have never existed without the stunt team. What would that show have been without the stunts performed in the General Lee? It wouldn't have been worth watching. You know that as well as I do. The Hazzard County Stunt Team is tremendous and still performs to this day, 30 years after the beginning of the series. One of the "pilots" of that General Lee those seven seasons was Al Wyatt, Jr. You've probably heard the name. If you've been to DukesFest you may have even met him. He's one of the best....that's the only way to describe him. Right now Al Wyatt, Jr. needs our help. For those of you who haven't heard of his medical problem the last couple of months I will start at the beginning. If you know the beginning, please bear with me. Al does not wear shoes. He wears flip flops and jumped the General Lee in flip flops. Because of this he got a cut on his foot. That cut developed a staph infection. As a result he was in the hospital in early January for quite some time. After being released he was readmitted in February for a few days. I hoped that the infection was cured when he was released that second time but a friend of mine was today contacted by Tom Sarmento from the stunt team with horrible news. Al Wyatt, Jr. has been readmitted to the hospital again. This time it is far worse than the previous times. The staph infection has gone all the way up the leg and fears are it will go into the back, which would be real bad news. Doctors are going to take the entire knee out in order to try to stop this infection. The knee is currently swollen five times its size. He is in intensive care in critical condition. The only thing he wants to do is make it to the stunt show this summer in North Carolina and see his son, Lee Smith, do one of the stunts and meet the fans who have been wishing him a speedy recovery for two months now. The only thing which helps to lift Al's spirits is receiving cards and letters from Dukes fans. When some fans sent him well wishes in January he described it as one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for him in his whole life. It needs to be repeated now, only on a much larger scale. Please take the time to send a letter, a card, or even a postcard. It makes Al smile and feel better if only for a few minutes. He needs to know we care. Send wishes to: Alan Wyatt, Jr. PO Box 6596 Malibu, CA 90264 The mail will be picked up by Susan and delivered to Al. Thanks in advance from Tom, Lee, and Susan. Please get something in the mail as soon as possible and pass this on to all your friends and family members. Keep Al Wyatt, Jr. in your thoughts and prayers, please. Thanks, Phyllis
