Plot Summary

An altered road sign

Most places celebrate April Fool's Day on April 1, but in Hazzard, it's Sadie Hogg Day. The women of Hazzard draw lots to see which government job they'll take over for the day. After embezzling exactly $142,679 from Hazzard County funds, Boss fixes it for Daisy to be County Treasurer and take the blame when the State Bank Examiner comes.

Commentary

Trivia

  • Sadie Hogg Day owes some of its origins to Sadie Hawkins Day, an event which started in the November 1937 storyline of Al Capp's comic strip Li'l Abner. The father of Sadie Hawkins, a 35-year-old spinster, organized a foot race for the town's eligible batchelors, with the loser having to marry Sadie.
  • Sadie Hogg Day is named in honor of Boss' great-great-grandma. "The very first woman in the South to have her own cotton gin. Of course, when she ordered it she thought it was a new way of making moonshine."

Bloopers

  • For some reason, the "State Revenue Service" sign on the door of Handley's car is very tatty, with bits of some letters missing and others repainted by hand.

Quotes

  • Trying not to take Aunt Clara on a chase:
Rosco: "Aunt Clara, you can't come, because there's liable to be shooting and hurting. This is your Sheriff speaking."
Aunt Clara: "I'm coming. This is your Aunt Clara speaking."

  • When the women collect the garbage on time:
Waylon: "Friends, there ain't nothing harder to deal with than erratic efficiency."
