Plot Summary

Mary Beth's pet, Mr. Jones

Bo and Luke sneak into J.J. Carver's office, find his hidden map and overhear him talking to Bender about an upcoming meeting of syndicate bosses. After shaking off Jo Jo, they let Agent Walden know what they've found. Back in Hazzard, Cooter takes Jesse to his surprise birthday party at the Boar's Nest.

At the race, Luke excuses himself to call Jesse, but actually calls Walden. He then goes back to Carver's house to photograph the other bosses arriving. Boss and Rosco still think they're protecting J.J. Carver from the Dukes, and get tied up along with Luke. Jesse and Daisy decide to go and see the race, and Bo gets Daisy to drive for him while he goes to help Luke.

Trivia

Mary Beth's race car

• Hal Smith (Pop Durham) previously appeared as the title character in R.I.P. Henry Flatt.
• Mary Beth's race car is a 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, but it's liveried to look like Terry Labonte's 1983 Budweiser Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS in the real race footage.
• The race footage is from the 1983 Winston Cup Budweiser 400 at Riverside.
• Boss has to read Little Red Riding Hood to Rosco to help him sleep.

Bloopers

• When Luke takes down the picture covering the map, and in all the other long shots, only lines are drawn on it, but the close-up also shows the names of the syndicate bosses.
• The damage on the front of Boss and Rosco's car, caused when they push Jo Jo into the pond, disappears later in the episode.
