Plot Summary

The Boar's Nest Bears

Boss always has a bet on the annual kids' basketball game between the Boar's Nest Bears and the Chickasaw Chiefs, and he always loses. This year, Bo and Luke agree to coach the team to avoid losing the General after missing a parole meeting with Boss. They also promise a "secret weapon", a young basketball player who's recently lost his father. After initial reluctance, Jesse persuades Rod to join the team, and Boss doubles his bet to $10,000. Chickasaw boss, A. C. Tate, Jr., hears about the new player, plants a fake birth certificate in Boss' records, and only asks for it to be checked as the game is starting. While Luke coaches the game, Bo and Daisy head over to Capitol City Hospital to get a copy of the real certificate whilst avoiding an increasingly angry Sheriff Little.

Trivia

• Jason Lively (Rod Moffet) previously appeared as Rudy in One Armed Bandits. He was the kid "squirting flies" in the General. Two years after this episode he played Rusty Griswold in National Lampoon's European Vacation.
• Waylon implies that Sheriff Little has a partner called Rachel.
• Capitol City Hospital is actually a building at California Institute of the Arts (CalArts).
• This is Nancy Clay's (Lou Ann Moffet) only credited film or TV role.

Bloopers

• The scene-setting shot of the Boar's Nest immediately after Boss agrees to drop the charges against Bo and Luke if they win the game is from one of the earlier seasons when the building was at a different location. Note that the carriage lights near the entrance, clearly visible in the scene before, are missing.

Quotes

• After Rosco's modifications to Boss' barber chair don't go as planned:
  Boss: "Rosco, next time there's an election for village idiot, I'll manage your campaign."
