Plot Summary

The Mean Green Machine

Bo and Luke leave to join the NASCAR circuit, so cousins Coy and Vance return to Hazzard to help Jesse on the farm. Deputy Enos Strate also returns to Hazzard, but Boss makes him share Cletus' patrol car and salary. Boss' latest money-making scheme is to hire a couple of guys to make a tank-like vehicle which can rob banks, but his real goal is to steal the $100 printing plates which are touring the South.

Trivia

• James Best's part is credited as "Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane" for the first 18 episodes of this season, but in the final four episodes, and in every other season, he's just "Sheriff Rosco Coltrane" (no middle initial).
• William Russ (Scroggins) played Alan Matthews in Boy Meets World.
• Mitch Carter reprised his role as Hatfield in The Return of the Mean Green Machine.
• The charcter names Coy, Vance and Hatfield are all references to the Hatfield–McCoy feud.

Bloopers

• When Jesse and Daisy get back to the farm, Daisy says "Bo and Luke ought to be landing in Atlanta by now, huh?" The Dukes have visited Atlanta in several previous episodes, and it's always been portrayed as a relatively easy distance to drive, so why do they need to go to another airport to fly there?
• When Coy and Vance arrive, they say that they ran into Cooter on the way over, and that he'd been wearing the same hat for years. Cooter had at least half a dozen hats that he wore regularly throughout the series.
