Plot Summary

A model of the solar still

It's time for the first annual Tri-County Beauty, Talent, and Mechanical Aptitude Contest; a contest with rounds of rebuilding carburetors, driving and wearing a swimsuit. Boss should be backing Daisy to win to help bring publicity to the Boar's Nest, but Big Jim Mathers has given him $10,000 to make sure that his lady friend, Melanie Dubois, takes the title. Boss plans to spend the money on a solar-powered still.

Miss Riverton

• Danone Camden (Melanie Dubois) appeared as Kendall Chapman in nearly 100 episodes of Dallas.
• Melanie Dubois' race car is the same one that Luke took over from Cooter in Duke vs. Duke. Miss Riverton's car crash is recycled footage from the same episode.
• After swapping between a blue and white Ford, a blue and white Chevy and a yellow Ford tow truck throughout this season, Cooter gets a blue and white GMC in this episode.
• Don Fox Greene (Malone) previously appeared as Rogers in The Meeting.
• The actress who plays Deputy Lu-Ann Milsap (AKA. Miss Riverton) isn't credited, but she appears in the background in other episodes, most notably during the bar fight in Officer Daisy Duke.

Bloopers

• Big Jim Mathers' county is spelled "Hatchipee" in the closed captions. In every other episode where the county appears, and on Melanie's sash, it's spelled "Hatchapee".
• When Daisy's at the DMV, she's asked to read the third line of the eye test. It's hard to hear what Daisy says, but the closed captions say "C-D-B-E-O", which doesn't appear anywhere on the eye chart.
• In Bad Day in Hazzard, Luke tries to call Sheriff Little from near the Boar's Nest, but Thackery tells him "You should know you have to be on the other side of Iron Mountain to reach Chickasaw County." In this episode, Jesse has no trouble reaching Bo, Luke and Daisy deep in Chickasaw County from just outside the Boar's Nest, although Iron Mountain stops Cooter getting through from Hazzard town.
