Plot Summary

Rosco finds the "mari-jew-wana"
Dennis Rucker as Mason Dixon
Tinker and Sam

Some days even collecting a water heater can go wrong for the Dukes. When Bo and Luke are pulled over by Rosco for not having a red flag on their cargo, they discover that it's actually a box load of marijuana (or "mari-jew-wana" as Rosco calls it). Roving private investigator Mason Dixon Jr. gets a tip about the marijuana seizure and hears that it might be linked to a criminal named Dempsey. He heads for Hazzard with his two female associates, Tinker and Sam, and gets on the Dukes' trail when Boss lets their name slip.

When they catch up with the Dukes, Uncle Jesse manages to convince Mason that Bo and Luke have nothing to do with the marijuana, so they agree to join forces to find the real drugs suppliers. Mabel Tillingham tips off Boss and Rosco about where to find them all, and they're briefly arrested. Once they escape custody, Mason analyzes a soil sample that leads them to the old copper mine up at Razorback Mountain. They know they've got the right place when they spot sentries in the road. Unfortunately, a couple of sentries spot them, but after a short fight, Bo and Luke head off to the copper mine in the sentries' coveralls. Meanwhile, Tinker and Sam climb the steep side of Razorback Mountain.

Bo and Luke get captured, but are rescued by Tinker and Sam. The bad guys move out with a whole truckload of marijuana, and are pursued by Luke and Sam on hang gliders, and Bo and Tinker in the General (Bo even lets Tinker drive after she gives him a kiss!). The chasers are joined by Mason, Jesse and Daisy, Boss and Rosco, and Enos.

When Luke and Sam catch up with the truck, they land and climb aboard. After fighting off one of the bad guys, they place some explosives in the cargo, and jump off into Mason's car. Mason, Tinker and Sam end up with the reward for catching Dempsey, while Rosco and Enos get some of the glory.

  • This is the acting debut of former Miss Florida, Mary-Margaret Humes (Tinker). She went on to appear in many other '80s favorites such as Knight Rider, The A-Team, Hardcastle and McCormick and The Fall Guy, before landing a regular part in Dawson's Creek.
  • The Trans-Am driven by Tinker and Sam is one of 250 convertibles made in 1979 by National Coach Engineering of Michigan.
