Plot Summary

Dewey's prepared grave site

When Jesse and Luke are run off the road by Dewey Hogg in an ambulance, they know that his return to Hazzard is not good news. Dewey is Hughie's older brother, and even more crooked. His plan is to pretend that he's dying, offer a donation for a medical clinic in his name, and then get the townsfolk to match it. Although Jesse's dubious of the scheme, he agrees to look after the money in his safety deposit box at the bank. After conning Boss to donate the remainder of the money, Dewey steals it from Jesse's deposit box using a duplicate key and stashes it in the box next door. Luke figures that the only way they'll see the money again is if Dewey thinks that he really is dying, so they pretend to serve him some poisoned wine.

Trivia

• Robert Morse (Dewey Hogg) starred as J. Pierpont Finch in the 1967 movie How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
• Daina House, Dewey's nurse, previously appeared as one of the car strippers in Arrest Jesse Duke.
• Boss' wine, Châteauneuf du Picard, appears to be a reference to Dukes executive producer Paul R. Picard.
• Bo is missing for most of this episode, and only appears as part of a phone call right near the end. According to the plot, he's testing NASCAR engines after Luke lost the coin toss.

Bloopers

• At the start of the episode, Jesse and Luke are meant to be heading to town with a load of eggs. Dewey passes them going in the opposite direction, yet Jesse still tells Daisy that he's heading her way (she's at Cooter's) - one of them must've going the wrong way to town.
• When Jesse's telling Daisy that Dewey's on his way, a crew member holding a boom mic is reflected in the General's front fender.
