Out of the blue, Luke's brother Jud Kane turns up in Hazzard. Luke had always thought that his brother had died in a
hospital fire when he was 2 weeks old, but Jud explains that he was rescued from the fire and raised by a nurse who had no children of her own. Jud had only recently learned about his real family, and had used private investigators to track them down. He also explained that he was a pro boxer who fought under the name of "Killer" Kane, that he'd won a fight that his manager had fixed for him to lose, and a crocked gambler called Tex Tompkins was now after him because he'd lost all of his money.
Trying to shake off Jud's pursuers, Luke takes Jud's car, but a crash leaves him unconscious. Tex and his associate Charlie track Jud to the hospital and kidnap him. Luke regains consciousness, and all the Dukes set off to find Jud.
