Plot Summary

Jesse finds the diary

For years, Rosco has been keeping a diary of all of Boss' schemes. When the diary goes missing at the Duke Farm, Boss agrees to swap it for his files of charges against Bo and Luke. Unfortunately, the deal is overheard by a couple of robbers who've been short-changed by Boss, and they go to intercept Jesse and the diary.

Trivia

• Elmore Vincent plays Doc Appleby in this episode, a role usually played by Parley Baer.
• Ernie Hudson (Avery) went on to star as Winston Zeddmore in Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II.
• Rosco finally gives Bo and Luke a genuine ticket for a broken taillight.
• It looks like Rosco's diary started at the same time as the show, because it goes back to "their first one-armed bandit operation" - a reference to the first episode.
• When the robbers are reading from the diary, they mention "how Boss ran a stolen car operation in 1978" and "how he robbed his own bank for the insurance money in 1979." The nearest plot lines to these entries are Limo One is Missing (cars stolen to be broken for parts) and Mrs. Rosco P. Coltrane (Boss has the idea to rob his bank while everyone's at the wedding).

Bloopers

• When the General drives under the falling utility pole, the road behind is clear, but a second later, Rosco's car is underneath it and Cletus has already pulled up across the road behind.
