The Must-Have Issue of Hot Rod Magazine!

The most anticipated new issue of Hot Rod magazine is now available! The November 2011 issue has hit the stands! You won’t want to miss the Bandit Trans-Am vs. the General Lee showdown!

Ask yourself. When is the last time you saw the General Lee in full splendor on the cover of a national magazine? Right there, we’re sold. It’s worth getting your hands on this issue for the photos alone. This ain’t no showroom beauty contest; these rebel machines are kickin’ up gravel.

Like feuding kin, both of these legendary, iconic cars hail from the same Southern turf. In their fictional settings, both are from Georgia; in real life, both are owned by Mark Osborne in Arkansas. Mark is a dedicated Dukes of Hazzard fan who generously allowed the use of his cars and ranch property for this scientific automotive research.

Ultimately, it was up to Hot Rod readers to name the winner of this duel. If you missed our earlier posting of Hot Rod’s Bandit vs. General video in our Duel to the Dust article, then go back and take a look!

Hot Rod magazine poses more debate-provoking topics in this issue, such as, Rosco vs. Sheriff Buford T. Justice, and Daisy vs. the chick who played Burt Reynold’s seat cover in Smokey and the Bandit.

John Schneider, ol’ Bo Duke himself, weighs in on these sensitive matters with his own thoughts on page 51.

Dukes of Hazzard on CMT – Sunday Sept 25th!

Sunday! Sunday! Sunday! See the thrills and chills of car-smashing action with The Dukes of Hazzard on CMT! The episode “Hazzard Connection” airs at 6:30 p.m. Eastern time! Yes, 6:30 p.m., a family-friendly viewing hour! Check your local cable listings to confirm scheduling.

“Hazzard Connection” is a popular episode where Bo Duke enters a demo derby with the General Lee in order to stop a smuggling ring. But will the smuggling ring stop him first, with their cement-filled slammer car? It’s crashing, crunchy action!

Immediately following “Hazzard Connection” is the episode “Witness for the Persecution” at 7:30 p.m. Eastern time. Enjoy the fun as Boss Hogg hides out at the Duke farm and turns it upside down. It will put visits from your in-laws into perspective.

General Lee vs. Bandit in Duel to the Dust!

The General Lee or the Bandit Trans-Am? There’s never been a question in our minds about which car is the best! But if any of ya’ll are torn, watch this video to see who comes out ahead! This good ol’ boy duel is presented by Hot Rod magazine as a promo for the November 2011 issue. Both of these cars will be featured in a special article and you won’t want to miss it! Start checking magazine racks in in the next week or two. The November 2011 issue of Hot Rod is going to fly off the stands.

Carnival of Thrills on CMT

The third season of The Dukes of Hazzard opened with a memorable two-part episode called “Carnival of Thrills.” When Dukes fans talk about favorite episodes, this one is always near the top. The automotive stunts, fistfights, humor and family angst add up to one of the best-written stories of the series.

Carnival of Thrills could be described as a coming-of-brains story for Bo Duke. After receiving flattery from pretty stunt-show owner Diane Benson, Bo eagerly signs up for the chance to commit what seems to be public suicide in front of a grandstand audience, committing to a 32-car jump. The near-fatal wipeout of the previous stunt driver is no deterrent.

Concerned for Bo’s safety, the rest of the Duke family attempts to stop him. Boss and Rosco also want to stop him for their own reasons, which leads to a rare cooperation by Luke with one of Rosco’s most brazen impound excuses. As the General’s impound turns into a date with a car crusher, free-for-all fisticuffs ensue at the junkyard. The General is saved, but Bo nurses a grudge all the way home.

Irate at Luke’s well-meaning betrayal, Bo shoots off his mouth until Luke’s own temper responds with a challenge. The first battle royale between the cousins Duke is memorable for its swift eruption and realism. The fight is broken up by Uncle Jesse who tries to restore peace to the family, but to no avail. Bo leaves the farm while his emotions are raw, falling further into Diane’s arms.

When the Duke family learns that the prior stunt driver’s accident was the result of sabatoge, they race the clock to stop Bo from making the jump. But the General Lee is primed and ready, and Bo is making his final preparations in front of a roaring crowd. Can anyone stop Bo before something stops him for good?

Carnival of Thrills ushered in the best ratings season that The Dukes of Hazzard would enjoy during it’s run. See why by watching it this weekend on CMT! Part One airs Friday Sept 16 at 2:00 a.m. Eastern. Part Two airs Saturday Sept 17 at 1:00 a.m. Eastern. Check your local cable listings. It’s the weekend, so go ahead and pull an all-nighter with The Dukes of Hazzard!

Congrats to our Fan of the Month!

Our Fan of the Month for September 2011 is a real woman of mystery, as you can tell by her photo with Catherine Bach! “Redneck girl 01” joined us in March of 2008. While she’s outgoing and friendly with everyone on HazzardNet, she’s a little shy about sharing her face with the world!

Redneck girl 01 is a long-time participant on our Forums and her recognition as Fan of the Month is overdue. She clinched the title after supplying us a personal account of Hazzard Homecoming in our Forums. For those of you who did not get to attend Hazzard Homecoming, Redneck girl 01’s reporting will give you an honest overview of what it was like.

She also included a link to her Facebook (faceless-book?) page which includes some great photos of the event, such as the one below:

This General Lee had a plush “Flash” upon the roof. The stuffed animal has been autographed by many cast members of The Dukes of Hazzard. Redneck girl 01 has many more photos of John, Cathy, Jimmie, Rick, Sonny, and Ben, and several photos of the Hazzard Homecoming grounds and atmosphere.

By immersing herself in the event and taking the time to provide us with all the details, she’s proven herself to be a dedicated Dukes of Hazzard fan. We appreciate the time she spent to share her experience with all of us, and we look forward to more of Redneck girl 01’s adventures in the future. Join us in congratulating her!
