The Dukes of Hazzard: The Early Years

Posted by Scott Weinberg on Friday, Apr. 28, 2006, 04:13 AM

Scott Weinberg writes: "IGN FilmForce & Production Weekly report that, sigh, there's going to be a direct-to-video prequel to "The Dukes of Hazzard." If visions of that really awful "Dumb & Dumberer" prequel just popped into your head, trust me, you're not alone.

From IGNFF: "The Dukes prequel will reportedly "follow Bo and Luke Duke as teenagers during their first wild weeks in Hazzard County. While Boss Hogg outlaws moonshine in an attempt to establish his own monopoly, the boys get into a heap o' trouble making deliveries of the now-illegal liquor for Uncle Jesse in an effort to save his farm from foreclosure, and we learn the origins of the General Lee and Daisy Duke's daisy dukes."

No casting news just yet, but the director has been named: Bob Berlinger, TV veteran who's helmed everything from "The Golden Girls" to "Arrested Development."

Bo & Luke: The Early Years

Dukes prequel gearing up.

April 27, 2006 - First Batman Begins then Casino Royale and Star Trek XI. Now even The Dukes of Hazzard will travel down the "early years" path.

Production Weekly reports that a follow-up to Warners' big-screen remake of The Dukes of Hazzard is gearing up. The project will be a direct-to-video prequel featuring new actors in the lead roles of Bo, Luke and Daisy Duke. No word yet if Boss Hogg, played in the original film by Burt Reynolds, will also be recast.

Bob Berlinger (TV's Arrested Development) will direct the pic, which plans on shooting in L.A. come mid-June.

The Dukes prequel will reportedly "follow Bo and Luke Duke as teenagers during their first wild weeks in Hazzard County.

I think it looks good so far. A "prequel" was the only way that they could pretend that the 05 movie never existed. I looked up the director and he looks to have some experiance with TV shows and if you where hoping for somthing more along the lines of the show I think you will get your wish. I faith in this film.

A prequel could be cool. Get some teeangers to do it. This would work great if they every wanted to make a tv show...I know no one but me wants to see this...but I do. :D

A direct to DVD sounds bad though. The budget will be nothing Im guessing. If it was a movie with a decent budget then that would be even better!

A prequel would be very cool and would explain how Bo and luke got caught and have a probation chain over their heads.

But they never ran moonshine with the General Lee, they ran moonshine long before the General ever came to being. So don't use the orange charger in the prequel use uncle jessie 's "Black Tillie" or some other fast car.

Always wanted them to do a movie where we see the life of the dukes while they ran moonshine and how they finally got caught and capt, this movie would kick the new dukes movie out into space.

I bet a lot of action then, and toward the end of the movie, when the dukes are set free under conditions of their probation, they could introduce the making of the General Lee.

I don't trust them. They have burned me once already with a "Dukes" movie, where they just totally trashed the Dukes spirit. And if the article in the next topic http://www.hazzardnet.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3180 is true then I am really scared. The first movie took a good fun and wholesom show and destroyed it's spirit by focusing on drugs, sex, and profanity. I couldn't let my number one Dukes fan watch the first movie, and I am afraid that they are going to do the same thing again.
