Brian Coltrane got a reaction from Skipper Duke in Congratulations Val Strate!
Val is our April 2012 Fan of the Month! Val's recognition is long overdue, as she joined us way back in 2004. Val is a longtime fan of Enos - hence her handle - and she was a fanfic writer and all-around goofball here on HazzardNet for many years.
Now, I know Val personally so I'll explain why I put some of this in the past tense. Val grew up watching The Dukes of Hazzard on TNN and then CMT, and then grew up the rest of the way while hanging around the usual rowdies on HazzardNet. Somewhere in the process, she went to college and held down two jobs to pay for it.
Since graduating college, Val's been working hard, and now has a solid career going. She also got married. With all the responsibilities she has going, she's not on HazzardNet as much anymore, but I know she still loves the Dukes, and she's here when she can be.
Val is one of those people who will always be a Duke fan, no matter how much she "grows up." That's worth recognizing, and we hope you'll join us in congratulating Val on her much-overdue Fan of the Month award!
    Congrats, Val!

I'm gonna be announcing that in a matter of minutes! Woulda been sooner, but I'd just typed the whole thing up and then HNet timed me out and lost the post. Our beloved site here has a sense of humor.
    Stay tuned!

GAH! I'm gettin' the feelin' I should have read the fine print when I signed up for this gig. *checks papers* Hmmm.... what the hell is this about an "indentured servant" clause?
And dammit MaryAnne, quit swearin' on the boards. Next thing ya know, we'll have people sayin' "@#$&*%!!" and "*&$%#*" and then I'll be here all night sweepin' up behind it because you'll be in Tahiti or somethin' on vacation. *checks papers again* Which, accordin' to this, you've accrued about 7 years in time off, while I've got a mandatory 7 years to put in...interestin' how that coincides.
One more thing, 'xplain to me how this moderator pension plan works. 50 percent of 50 percent of 50 percent of our membership dues get divided up three ways...hey, we don't HAVE membership dues!
I'd complain to the management, but somethin' tells me it would only get worse. AAAAHHH!!!

In the current issue of Mopar Muscle, on newstands now through 09/14, there's a picture on page 8 of a German Shepard sittin' behind the wheel of a General Lee. It's a cute picture - the dog looks like he just pulled the car up and parked it. Anyhow, they got a caption contest goin' on for this photo - no big prize, but the winner gets their name in the magazine, and a small gift of some sort.
Be fun to enter, just to get the braggin' rights if ya win. One more thing to add to yer resume' !

Howdy, Thomamon! Welcome to HazzardNet. Or maybe I should say, welcome back!
You mighta been here before - HazzardNet's been around for several years. It's deja vu' all over again. Yep, it's been remodeled some, but rest assured, it's still operated by the same lunatics.
Thanks for the kind compliments. A whole lotta credit goes to our fellow Hazzardites for positing Dukes news and spy-witness reports about the movie filming. Hazzard has nevah been busier!

YES!! Yes I would have!! Except I woulda done thangs a little differently. I would have smacked 'em in the back of the head with a wooden chair and enjoyed added bonus of splintering furniture, which is much more aesthetic visually, than a bland ol' karate chop.
On short notice, a two-by-four piece of lumber would do.

My deepest sympathy. This is going to be a hard time for you and for everyone who knew your friend. Just be there for as many them as you can.
Do what you can for your friend's family. Whenever you can. Remember them and you'll be remembering your friend.

    DixieRose/Jessi -
Shame shame, everybody knows your name!! It's one thing to post yet another "lookit my Dukes site" message. But to more or less copy topic categories from HNet, and then advertise HERE for moderators on top of it .... you've reached the limit of my good nature.
I try NOT to be a forum nazi. Far as moderators go, I'm lazy. I don't rile at much, but the fastest way to tick me off is to go "Lookit my Dukes site" when you're basically rebuilding HNet in part or whole, and then looking to siphon off visitors from us on top of it. That's a naughty-naughty.
I've confiscated the URL outta yer post, and yer on probation.

He was being a jerk for his own sport, and I almost shrugged it off...but he was upsetting the kids over there, and that's uncool. Like you, I couldn't let it go unanswered. He deserved opposition, and boy howdy he got it.
Thanks again. Give a hollar if there's another brawl !

Okay, I was enjoyin' a good ol' fashioned brawl with landsharkk over on the CMT boards - and most of my posts got deleted by the CMT mods. Landsharkk lost a couple of his smarmy ones too. Which was a shame, because it was a spirited fight but neither of us were cussin' or anything. We were insulting each other, but it was clean.
What ticks me off, is the selective deletion of the posts. It was OK for landsharkk to post "The Dukes of Hazzard is crap " but some of my responding comments were evah-dently too colorful.
Granted, I've deleted posts on HNet once in awhile, if they contained profanity or they were just disruptor-bombs of nonsense. Despite the label of "Forum Nazi " it's rare I mess with anything. So I'm very familiar with the decisions a moderator has to make when it comes to argumentive posts. It's a subjective decision and ultimately it comes down to the protection of the site and other users, versus the speech rights of the offending individual.
Knowin' all that, I'm kinda surprised that I tripped a wire on somebody else's turf. Not once, but several times. I had at least 5 posts wiped out over the course of a few days.
As HazzardNet is friendly to CMT, and we fully support and appreciate their airing of Dukes and their good treatment of the original cast, this ain't an anti-CMT message. It is, however, a mild grumble, exercised in the safety of my home turf.

Doesn't look like much more than some dude out for some sport. But man, you'd think this would be the kinda thing that the CMT Dukes VP would respond to.
You'd think, for a hundred grand a year, that cyber-slacker could answer a @&%# post once in awhile, or PARTICIPATE with the fans he supposedly represents.
Maybe landsharkk would make a better Dukes Institute VP. Muahahaha.

TimDuke, thanks for the alert. I'll go check it out for myself. It's possible this landsharkk dude is just amusing himself by stirring up otherwise defenseless Dukes fans.
If he's serious though, well, it sounds like he's gonna be outnumbered by about 80 gazallion to one. Still, we gotta take it seriously. CMT could be paying attention to see if we really give a dang.
In the meantime, if anybody sees spamsharkk over here on HazzardNet, let me know. I'd like to give him a personal welcome. With a manure shovel upside the head.

I'm looking for any "official" info on the Season 6 and 7 releases, and have not found anything yet. Anybody with confirmed info, please let us know.
As I mentioned on another thread - I've only found a new "Complete boxed set" with seasons 1 through 5. Don't know if they're just trying to milk the first 5 as much as possible before releasing 6 and 7, or what.
If they don't release 6 and 7, it'll irritate the heck outta me.

48 hours. Hmm. Well, considerin' we each have other responsibilities, and duties here as well, I suppose that's reasonable. Besides, you type slow.
Doesn't look like anybody wants to get in the middle of this, though. No volunteers for referees. ( Given our last challenge of a couple years ago, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. But hey, we promised no violence this time. )

Yes, bait! So now that my esteemed peer and partner in crime - er, partner in Hazzard county business, is paying attention....
I propose a friendly little challenge here on the Forums between myself and MaryAnne. Nothing like the dire duels of the distant past where we tried to annihilate one another for sport. Though that always drew a crowd and we're probably not above mayhem if the occassion should call for it.
For now, though, I'm thinkin' more of a chase-and-race through the forums, that would pit each of us against each other and against the clock. Each of us would have to pay attention to what the other is doing, as well as do our best to confound each other.
For example, on Friday night, I'd leave 2 different messages in the Forums, and so would MaryAnne. By Saturday night, we'd each have to find and respond to the other's messages - plus each of us adds one entirely new message, elsewhere. So by Sunday, we'd each have three messages to find and respond to, and a fourth message to start. It would snowball until one of us found it impossible to keep up with and missed a message.
That's the basic idea. The messages/responses would have to be a minimum of one complete sentence.
Far as other rules....just like any event in Hazzard, we'd have to expect outside factors comin' into play. Which means if other folks respond to our posts, that's fine, that's what the Forums are for. MaryAnne and I still have to find each other's posts though, and leave a comment on that thread as well.
Also, things like computer crashes and net outages could happen to either of us. Just like how a car can break down in a race. If there's downtime caused by whatever factor, it doesn't stop the clock.
Only thing MaryAnne and I have to come to terms on, is how much time is allowed for the responses to be posted. 24 or 48 hours, ect. We would also have to agree to having a couple of neutral parties officiate the whole deal. We'd have to each pick 1 or 2 from whoever volunteered.
Finding neutral officials is gonna be tough, because I'm sure that everybody will be betting on me to win.
What say you, MaryAnne? You in? What terms?
And if MaryAnne accepts this challenge, are there any early volunteers for officiating this mess? It would require counting and tracking our posts, their locations, the time of original message and the response, ect. ( all times based on HNet time.)
Absolutely no cheating or "hints" to be given by the officials to the combatants - I mean, contestants. ( I can do my own cheating, thankyaverymuch......just kiddin'! )

I've been taking a look at the number of posts we've got on record for everybody. I was just curious because MaryAnne had posted an announcement about trying to break the traffic laws - I mean, the traffic records, for number of users on the forums at one time.
To do that though, poeple gotta have somethin' to read. I myself have been slacking off in the babble department. I'm way behind in my usual news hunting - though I have been doing Hazzard-related business.
For herself, MaryAnne was on leave for a few months. (We are very happy she's back! ) Toward the last couple months here though, things did kinda die off a little bit, and I'll take responsibility for that.
Yet, I notice here, MaryAnne has 914 posts, since June of 2001.
    I have 1078 posts since December 2001.
I figure her leave of absence, and my later sign-up, kinda balance each other out, so timewise we're about even.
Which means she's got some catching up to do. If she's game, I might have a friendly challenge to offer, that would help even up the score.
So, we'll just leave this message here as bait.

I like checking out the youth art exhibits at the county fairs, because ya find out what's on the minds of kids these days. So when I came across this one, it was a reassuring sight.
The kid wrote the chorus to "Good Ol' Boys" at the top of the drawing, and then had a little text ballon with "yeehaa" coming from the driver. Ain't that cute? Got a blue ribbon, too.

We counted both votes and the results are in. In a landslide victory, Meadowmufn has retained her post as HazzardNet webmaster!
Just to be on the safe side, MaryAnne and I conducted a recount. Neither of us changed our vote, so the results are final. Congrats to Meadowmufn!
