Gilligan's Island Fun Fact: Alan Hale's black Lancaster hats and Jim Backus white Lancaster hats all had the shaper stiffening rings inside around the top like my Bluenox hat has. But they were removed for filming the 3 seasons 98 episodes 1964-1967 because with the rings in, it wouldn't look right for men stuck on an island. Except Alan Hale's Midway in Rescue From Gilligan's Island (1978) cuz Midway are made without the rings put in.

Gilligan's Island fans... Does any of you know what happened to Skipper's S. S. Minnow ship wheel sign from opening credits where it is at today? I am curious about what happened to it.

And the current gen Nascar Cup car could get one last hurrah next season running the Bristol dirt race. According to some crew chiefs the next gen car would have to be modified for dirt racing.
The short track rain tire test went well. Both drivers had positive things to say about the test and Nascar's John Probst said it was "positive and promising first test" and Nascar will evaluate it further.
Some sad news the matriarch of Wood Bros. Racing Bernece Wood passed away March 30th. She was 90 years old. Fans will remember her from the Wood Bros. Museum as she was the resident historian.
This week's Martinsville races will be on FS1 Friday and Saturday nights.

With nothing good on TV last night, I decided to watch 'Blazing Saddles' again. I'd forgotten that Burton Gilliam had one of the lead parts and featured in a DVD extra documentary. Here he is in the movie. It's one of the screengrabs I posted in the Hazzard Square thread, because they used the Warner Brothers Western set which was next to Midwest Street at the time - see all the pictures here.

After Rosco deputizes Bo and Luke in 'Deputy Dukes' and promises that they'd be the only three to know...
Rosco: "I gave you my word, didn't I?"

If anybody in the parade had a strong (or even weak) tie to the Dukes I would have made the effort to find out about autographs. The next time I go down I want to go to Cooter's. I just found out that it is only an hour away from my daughter.

Meadowmufn is pretty famous....at least amongst the Dukes fans of the world. Nobody else in the world has even come close to accomplishing what the HazzardNet has.

I have Dish and they are still fighting with Fox so I can't get it. I went to my daughter's to watch it yesterday but that didn't last long.

The actor is Burton Gilliam - his other Dukes appearance was as Tom Colt in 'Double Sting' (minus the mustache). Maintaining the "Colt" connection, he played the Colt gun salesman in 'Back to the Future III'. You may also know him from 'Blazing Saddles' or classic 80s shows like 'Knight Rider', 'The A-Team' or 'The Fall Guy'.

There's actually an Irish radio personality who goes by the pseudonym Rick O'Shea, which reminds me that there's a radio DJ from near here who now works in the UK who uses the name Robin Banks.

I always thought the name " Heep" was a funny sounding name!  Burton Glliam ( I 'm not sure how to spell his last name) played several times in the series and never seemed to be type cast!  Heep.....his Irish counterpart would be called, " Heep O' Trouble!    ( How's that one Hoss? )  Kind of like , What's Irish and sits on the back porch all night long?...........Patio  Furniture!!
